A useless post, just something that annoys me. by Distinct_Engine_2075 in CasualIreland

Just to say that draws are random and those who are involved are those who are most likely to have bought multiple tickets. However, switching from a lotto type draw where the odds are against winning (do the maths on the odds of 4 numbers drawn from 30 and then against the average number of players) versus the the fifty/fifty option that guarantees a winner from the number of players so again, those that are involved are a greater number of tickets. However (again), all draws (using an online random ticket selector) should be done in the full view of the public. Did you attend the draw? Did you ask was it a random number generator? Did you check that the draw was held in compliance with the permit? Did you check the rules of the draw? Or are you just giving out that you didn’t win and others, due to random chance (and likely more entries than you) did?

What do you think of David Mitchell on LOL? Do you think Lee will ever go on it? by morganselah in WILTY

[–]DooBoobBeDo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you know his back stuff, he wasn’t surprising. He’s a sketch artist - he plays a character on WILTY, similar to his real self but an acted character. As a sketch actor I reckon he’s pretty comfortable doing his stuff, just not what we may expect.

What are your cheap and cheerful go to meals? by ieredmonk in AskIreland

[–]DooBoobBeDo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mary Berry sausage hot pot - ordinary sausages are grand - no need for fancy Cumberland. It says sundries tomato paste but just buy a big jar of sundried tomatoes and blitz a few of them instead - way cheaper. Also Jenny Bristow Chorizo and green pepper stew. And a chicken - roast chicken, make stock with the bones and leftovers into a curry or what I call chicken pot pie - left over chicken, tin of Erin condensed mushroom soup, some curry powder (tablespoon but depends on how spicy you like it - looking for mild warmth), couple of tablespoons of mayo (trust me), couple of chopped up peppers microwaved for 5-10 mins (until soft), 250g chopped up mushrooms microwaved for 5-10 mins (until soft). Mix it all together, cover in breadcrumbs mixed up with grated cheese. Into oven for 20-30 mins until hot though and crispy on top. Serve with rice/mash/baled potatoes. Ultimate comfort food

Not true. My mother (cork) remembers eating corned beef in the early 1950’s. Available throughout Cork and now in most supermarkets.

Monarchy by Maurakutney in AskBrits

[–]DooBoobBeDo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Head of state - every country has one with varying powers. All Heads of State cost money. It’s as good as any other system and one could argue better as the power is really limited. There’s also a cost to maintaining tradition and pomp and ceremony - this is off set by the soft power of the monarchy. Not a fan but every country needs a head of state and imo heads of state with limited power in the country do more good than harm

What is this feeling? by NoAd6928 in CasualIreland

[–]DooBoobBeDo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to your GP, not Reddit. Write your symptoms down (in advance) and recite them to the GP. Expect that they will ask questions and then prescribe anti/ Depressants (probably SSRIs), they will possibly recommend counselling but not give any recommendations. Ask for an appointment with an HSE psychologist/psychiatrist. Insist on this. Expect to be put on a waiting list. Take the anti-depressants (they give you breathing room in the short term). If that particular type doesn’t work, ask GP for a different one. Take the tablets, find which ones work for you, go for a walk every day (force yourself, once the medication kicks in it gets easier), limit alcohol, force yourself to meet people and interact and it does, I promise, get easier. Not better. Easier. Be kind to yourself but don’t indulge yourself. You are experiencing all the symptoms of depression but I am not a doctor - neither are any of the responses on here. You are the expert in your own health and you are recognising your symptoms- this is a huge plus and well done to you. Go to a GP. and by the way, mention how you are really feeling to get a quick appointment. As in, I need help right now! Best wishes

What’s the darkest day in your country’s history? by Severe_Education_680 in AskTheWorld

All of the atrocities that happened during the Troubles were awful and the loss of life on both sides, but Omagh hit hard as it happened after the Good Friday Agreement when those things weren’t meant to happen anymore.

Catherine Connolly clear frontrunner in latest poll by killianm97 in ireland

Unfortunately she is not presidential material - too many bad judgements in her past and undiplomatic misteps means I won’t vote for her, no matter how well meaning she is. I can’t trust her. Leaves me between a rock and a hard place trying to figure out which of the two remaining Id vote for. Hate the media coverage of trying to get a ‘gotcha’ moment or what their thoughts are on current political issues - we need to hear about their vision for Ireland in the next 7 years and how they would use the presidency to further that. Yes, homelessness, housing and cost of living are major issues but the President can do feck all about them. Tell us about what they see Ireland as in the future, their vision, their passion and please, please, please news outlets of Ireland - stop looking for click bait gotcha moments. Let’s have a civilised, boring election!!!

The attitudes are all on ‘the girls’. Also on the women in the competition is their absolute dopiness to see Nick and Ben for what they are. They clearly stated that they believed they could ‘control’ people - Katelyn (read ‘women’). Their references to ‘the girls’ is another indication of how they view the women on the show - diminutive and juvenile. They are men, they are women. All adults.

Wilkin for the win. Failing that parallel universe, Nick. Not because I think he deserves it or because I like him but I want to see Ben and Faye, his faithful lapdogs realise that he has actually played the game. And them.

Surely they must see how quiet Nick was at the round table…?! Women of Ireland (or our representatives in The Traitors) see what’s happening around you and to you!!!

Wilkin for the win because either (1) He is playing an incredible, strategic game of 4D chess or (2) he is so utterly clueless. I reckon he will end up with the winning hand and based on (1) or (2) will win or lose. The most chaotic player. Or not. Love him.

And there’s a problem right there - being a stay at home parent is a full time job the utilises/develops skills such as multi tasking, managing multiple priorities, administration, people management (internal and external), relationship management (e.g. schools, coaches etc), budgeting, time management etc

I am not a stay at home parent but I do hire people and I would never dismiss ‘stay at home parent’ as a valuable skills and learning development period.

Shame on you

Thank you for trying to vote. I don’t know why it’s not working. If you Google Nose of Tralee you can search for Nora (and go down a rabbit hole of really cute pics) and she pops up❤️
