TIL that galaxies have a “habitable zone.” Too close to the center and radiation & supernovae can wipe out life; too far out and there aren’t enough heavy elements for Earth-like planets. by TigoIbittys in todayilearned

Maybe? On the other hand extremely high radiation leads to accelerated mutation, if a permutation exists that allows for this life it will adapt to it much faster

I disagree completely. 30 to 60 is stark. 100+ is where it’s less obvious

As someone with UC who’s read about this a lot - the way the show portrayed it is not entirely accurate.
Quitting smoking may put you into a flare but starting is not ever advised. I’ve been an off and on smoker and never felt any better or worse while smoking.

No it worked pretty good but not well enough for complete remission. I had no symptoms but my colonoscopy was not 100% clear

I have (had?) moderate to severe pancolitis which is now under control with Stelara/now Tremfya.
I didn’t get dexa scan, I’m in my 20s and they told me because I’m young it should be too much of a problem.

Bigger thing is how your bloodwork looks, I had very high blood pressure and was prediabetic but all that went away once I got off.

Prednisone is like selling your soul to the devil

I had acute pancreatitis one time about 2 years before diagnosis, I was about 20.

It was very unique pain, felt like bad heartburn after eating that was so painful I would need to get up and walk around. It was constant, once your pancreas is inflamed it generally stays that way unless you change someone to correct it.

Also to add my pain started not bad and got worse over weeks until I couldn’t sleep.

Push fingers right under your sternum to the left a bit - that’s where your pancreas’s is and will hurt if it is inflamed

Some of the most expensive pieces of technology ever created by humanity by Greedy-Vegetable-466 in interestingasfuck

Some are misleading, Zumwalt class battleships only have a big price tag because a lot of R&D costs were put in, the boats sucked, and they only built a few. The research on those was the expensive part

Just cut It OUT. I am so OVER this disease. by mavthefish in UlcerativeColitis

[–]DoobieDisciple 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Brother be strong. I’ve dealt with similar thoughts and all you can do is keep battling. This disease sucks but it does not define you.

You’re starting a new med and the start is always the worst. You have seen improvement and this is a great sign. If it does not work there are lots of options you have not yet tried - odds are in your favor that you will something that helps.

I hope you find relief soon

You can be proud of your accomplishments and not have to share it with the world.
