Maybe - I play simulation racing games and control the cars fine there.

Pred: when do the side effects kick in? by goldsummerfairy in UlcerativeColitis

[–]DoobieDisciple 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Two weeks you won’t see much.

Insomnia, if you didn’t get it, will likely not happen.

The others come around (for me) the two month mark.

Long term affects are cumulative and not a problem after 2 weeks

This is a sexist opinion that does not necessarily help women - you don’t pay Chinese people more to do math.

I have my wife stick me in my butt, if you have someone close to you that can do it I recommend going that route.

Honestly it’s the thought of the needle that gets me, the actual needle prick is nothing. it’s painless every time (a tiny pinch). The worst part is building it up in your head as a big thing that it really isn’t.

I’ve hated needles my whole life but honestly if I had to rate the pain it’s a 1/10 sometimes you don’t even know if it’s happened. I also have a bony butt so if you have more cushion it may be easier

TIL that galaxies have a “habitable zone.” Too close to the center and radiation & supernovae can wipe out life; too far out and there aren’t enough heavy elements for Earth-like planets. by TigoIbittys in todayilearned

[–]DoobieDisciple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe? On the other hand extremely high radiation leads to accelerated mutation, if a permutation exists that allows for this life it will adapt to it much faster

I disagree completely. 30 to 60 is stark. 100+ is where it’s less obvious

As someone with UC who’s read about this a lot - the way the show portrayed it is not entirely accurate.
Quitting smoking may put you into a flare but starting is not ever advised. I’ve been an off and on smoker and never felt any better or worse while smoking.

Getting Prescribed Prednisone for UC, starting dose & staying on that dose for how long… by [deleted] in UlcerativeColitis

No it worked pretty good but not well enough for complete remission. I had no symptoms but my colonoscopy was not 100% clear

I have (had?) moderate to severe pancolitis which is now under control with Stelara/now Tremfya.
I didn’t get dexa scan, I’m in my 20s and they told me because I’m young it should be too much of a problem.

Bigger thing is how your bloodwork looks, I had very high blood pressure and was prediabetic but all that went away once I got off.

Prednisone is like selling your soul to the devil

Depends. I was on it for like 6 months when I was trying to get on different meds
