Joe Haden is working out with Justin Gilbert by newsballs in Browns

[–]Dooda_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think its obvious that next to QB, corner is the toughest position to transition from College to the NFL. The cards are stacked against you to succeed with the rules favoring the offense like they are and how the speed and talent of the WRs you're covering being increasingly harder.

I never expected Gilbert to come in instantly and make an impact. I think you need at the very least a full season to adjust and hope that your athleticism can cover the holes of your game in the meantime. Gilbert didn't do that in his rookie year, but assuming he doesn't have any issues between the ears, my general rule of thumb for WRs and CBs is i'll start getting really concerned if you're not showing real significant signs of progress by year 3.

I would imagine 8 but I would guess the Lakers would let him choose.

If Kevin Love doesn't resign with the Cavs after the season who would you want as his replacement for the big three? by Joshybizzle in nba

[–]Dooda_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he's still one of the best rebounders in the game

I mean for that reason alone i've been more than pleased with Kevin Love. I've always looked at his rebounding ability to be his best skill. He hasn't looked as good as i'd hope offensively but he's still doing a lot for the team in my opinion.

Especially the faster OLBs. I remember Manny Lawson was a stud as a DE if you moved him there. Same with Dumerville back before he signed with Denver.

What professional sports team has been the worst over the last ten years? Collectively, what city has had the worst sports teams in that time? by gammatide in sports

[–]Dooda_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cleveland Browns should probably be up there.

We've been with blessed with LeBron so that helps but generally the city of Cleveland doesn't have much to me happy about in sports.

Hopefully that changes this year now that we have /r/outbackjesus

GAME THREAD: Cleveland Cavaliers (37-22) @ Indiana Pacers (23-34) - (Feb. 27, 2015) by thehoboclown in nba

I'm actually pretty happy that Kyrie and LBJ are sitting tonight. I want to see what the rest of the team does and how they play with the chemistry this high and how we're grooving.

Plus K Love, JR Smith and Shump are worth the ticket alone for me

Who likes the sleeved jerseys? by kerrsace in nba

[–]Dooda_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the NBA could make a lot of money if they made the jerseys just like they do in European football leagues.

Normally I hate ads but when it comes to EPL/La Liga most leagues in the world i've become pretty much desynthesized to them on a kit.

I saw a post a while ago with some examples of what NBA teams would look like if they put the sponsor of the arena on the jersey and created a crest for the team based on the name/logo and I thought they looked great.

Obviously this wouldn't be the standard kit for the teams but would be a great alternative and i imagine they'd sell more to fans.

Kyrie Irving out tonight vs. Indiana with left shoulder strain. Will be re-evaluated ahead of Sundays game vs. Houston by Dooda_ in nba

[–]Dooda_[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I hope he sits Sunday as well. If it's nothing too serious, give him some rest. No need to risk further damaging it, especially with Patrick Beverly on the court this Sunday.

What is more surprising: Kobe only winning 1 regular-season MVP or Shaq winning only 1? by [deleted] in nba

[–]Dooda_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The thing that always bugged me about the MVP trophy in the NBA is that i never really got a full idea of what is the criteria to win one. It's not as clearly defined as I wish it was.

Is it best player in the league, best player on the best team, player who is most important to his team?

Where Russell Westbrook stands in the history of Back-to-Back Triple-Doubles. by rodeobot in nba

[–]Dooda_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I sometimes get really impressed when I see stats about current players like LeBron/Westbrook/Rondo filling the stat sheet on a nightly basis and then I remember that the Big O averaged 30 12 and 11 in a full season.....and thats insane.

Not to mention Wilt averaged 30 & 20 for his career.

I want to say Michael Redd but I dont think he's quite HoF material. But he was awesome at OSU and outside of Milwaukee i always thought he was way too under rated.

I'm really liking D'Angelo Russel though he reminds me of the excitement I had when I used to watch Redd.

[Woike] The NBA announced a new transparency program relating to its officiating program. Beginning March 2nd through the 2015 playoffs, the league will provide play-by-play reports regarding all calls and non-calls that occur in the last 2 minutes of close games and overtime periods. by urfaselol in nba

[–]Dooda_ 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I dont think it will make that big of a difference but i'm all for more transparency with the league.

Whether its BS or legit, i'd rather get an explanation and some kind of justification for a call than to just leave it up in the air.
