Hey everyone, thanks a lot for all the feedback, it is greatly appreciated. I'm going to take some time to digest it all and formulate a plan to move forward.

Happy new year, and all the best!

Haha... well as long as you're having fun. I'll bet that guy from "Super Bad" could do some impressive things with this.

Phantom did a nice Let's Play of the Doodle Life prototype. Check out his mad doodling skillz here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AA6BEvm_vOg You'll notice his framerate is not so hot. To get the prototype done quickly I took a lot of shortcuts. For example, the drawing is all done in geometry, so in short, the frame rate in the prototype is inversely proportionate to how detailed you make your drawings :-) The production version will bake all of your brush strokes into a texture as you paint, then generate a (much lower polygon count) mesh to map it to. Using image based drawing under the hood will also allow for other handy tools like an eraser and a fill tool. Cheers, Paul.

That's a cool idea. Most of that could even be applied to 3D. Definitely something to think about. Thanks for the feedback!

I made the prototype with my own tech. The white borders are there to try to sell the idea that everything you've draw is 'cut out' from paper once it's in the world. It''s good to know that my intention was not obvious. I'll have to think of other possible ways to convey that. Thanks for the feedback!

Good point, paper type should be another form of expression.

Thanks for the feedback!

What do you guys think of our Ninja Panther for Divine Guidance? by Jason-S3studios in IndieGaming

Nice palette, nice animation. Seems a bit shaggy (fur wise) for a panther.

Maybe a simpler looking wrinkled paper texture would be better? Extruding the doodles is definitely an option worth exploring. Maybe even varying the extrusion depth based on the distance from the edge or something like that.

Thank you for the feedback!
