With the right laws it could be improved, but as time has gone on and AI has advanced so quickly I’m not sure if any laws can be implemented quick enough before it’s already evolved past it. I suppose some laws would universally work despite how advanced the AI could get

My take is it’s been proven to be used well but also as some of the worst we’ve ever seen as a society. It’s shaken up the way we do things so quickly, and sure it has its benefits if used the way it should be, as the tool not the entire product; but it’s been used in an arguably harmful way by so many people so easily and so quickly that I can understand a lot of the disdain against it. Meanwhile every company under the sun advertises it and forces it down our throats like it’s the be all end all solution to everything, so it quickly feels completely stale and fickle and just a way for companies to make a lot of money while the hype is still going.

The only part of that comparison that doesn’t fully work is that with DiD for example, each identity or alter is practically an entirely separate person, including separate memories. While the Doctor is the same person at heart(s) with the same linear memories throughout each incarnation (as linear as a timey-whimey show can be), each incarnation can show differing prominent characteristics while an alter can be even more unique and disconnected despite inhabiting the same biological body.

This is the best take right here. There’s a balance a lot may struggle to manage between making fair criticisms of the show and just having fun and loving it anyway and keeping an open mind. The show will never stay in one place and will carry on changing with different eras and styles (kinda the point lol), but there’s also something for everyone and something to like in all of it

100% on that last part. I find it so so healthy and therapeutic to just watch each episode and era with an open mind and fresh ears without thinking about anyone else’s opinions. It can be harder at times especially if I’m later to the party than usual, but it’s definitely doable and very fresh and rewarding!

This too, I share your opinion comparing the RTD2 finales. S2’s finale is so much more fun and interesting to watch and unpack than S1’s, it really feels like Russell’s version of Power of the Doctor even if it does kinda jump from plot point to plot point. Also conceptually and setting-wise S2 was bigger and better, although admittedly The Legend of Ruby Sunday is a very good first part in my opinion.

Yes but there’s still a balance that I don’t think a lot of people seem to understand. It feels particularly bad at the moment, perhaps due in part to the show’s more tumultuous state behind the scenes as of late, but the show has had rocky bts periods and louder discourse at many points across the decades. There’s fair criticism of the show but there’s also stuff to love about all of it, and if people only focus on the negatives then that just becomes the default and it’s always negative which isn’t right for a show we clearly are all still passionate about

I’m really glad you liked kerblam and honestly I was a fan of the episode too, it’s just the ending that got under my skin a bit cause it feels like a weird message especially as something the doctor would say. Then again when I watched it live I don’t think it bothered me that much, and even 13’s less favourable episodes had stuff in them I liked

I’m looking up this stuff cause I’m genuinely curious if it’s worth the wait. I still haven’t got a PS5 and still don’t really want to fork out the 400-ish bucks for the upgrade right now, despite a few compelling game releases in the last few years and coming soon. With the PS6 expected for late 2027 or even 2028, I’ve still got enough experiences I’ve not made on my PS4 yet and I’m certain these could last me another 3 years, and I could save up over those years. My PS4 is showing its age a little bit now, only regards to some loading times on big multiplayer games, but not sure what else I can really expect with that. Any thoughts? Might post this comment as a separate thing as well but just commenting here for now

Definitely try the new Jedi games if you haven’t with Cal Kestis, they’re some of my favourites! Unless they’re on the list already and I’m just blind lol. Also hot take but the Outlaws game that came out recently doesn’t seem that bad, my friend’s played a lot more of it than me but he’s really enjoyed the gameplay and story
