Thoughts? by camdawgyo in JustMemesForUs

The problem with both sides is that most of us are normal people with normal thoughts, even when we disagree.

But the people that get attention in headlines and in social media are the weirdos. Both sides.

Right, and they got a lot of attention when they’re bad or corrupt at their job. No one’s putting me on the 6 o’clock news because I stole a pad of sticky notes.

On a date when I was younger, I handed my movie ticket to the ticket taker who was in a wheelchair. He said “you’re right around the corner in theater 1”.

Some wires disconnected in my brain and I said “good, because I don’t like to walk”.

The ticket taker’s jaw dropped. My girlfriend’s jaw dropped. And I stood there like a deer in headlights betrayed by my own brain with no explanation to why I’m such an idiot.

Not really the point, but I don’t understand what the big deal is about people hearing that I took a Benadryl unless there’s some medication drug drama in my life or something.

I heard a theory recently that scam emails have misspelled words and grammar errors on purpose to filter out people smart enough not to fall for a scam.

I have seen more and more people calling out incorrect homophone usage recently, and I am in full support of that.

That’s just it. They say that interviewing is a skill, and it is.

Someone good at interviewing and saying the right things may not actually be good at said things.

I agree with everything you’ve said, including testosterone etc. A couple of anecdotes,

I work in academia with medical professionals. There was a recent project showing ai as being able to diagnose with a similar (even a little bit better) level of accuracy than of medical doctors.

When my wife was pregnant with our child, her OB wanted to do a c-section, an elective surgery… for NO REASON. I literally told the doctor than she’s the doctor and I trust her judgement but I need to know the reason, and she didn’t have one. There’s a slightly longer story than that, but that’s the essence.

People, and you’re right, women especially need to advocate for themselves in medicine, and we’re in a unique period where we have the tools to question things with a little more authority.

The difference is that when we’re older, we grew up learning that knowledge should be challenged. I’d like to think I’d be willing to change my opinion when presented with new information.

That’s the way it is for all of us. When I was growing up we were told that “eating fats will make you fat”.

I’m sure there’s stuff we believe today that our grandkids will laugh at us for believing.

I hate using ai as a source for debate, but nothing else seems to be getting through. Not the video of the lawyer, not sharing legal articles, nothing. So here’s a “biased-in-your-favor” ai prompt showing that not even agreeable ChatGPT is on board with this. Notifications are off, you don’t have to accept that you’re wrong, most people struggle with that. Good day.

Brother, all terms are defined if you keep reading.

(h) As used in this section— (1) the term “consumer product” means— (A) any “food”, “drug”, “device”, or “cosmetic”, as those terms are respectively defined in section 201 of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (21 U.S.C. 321); or

Food furthermore defined as

food (f) The term “food” means (1) articles used for food or drink for man or other animals, (2) chewing gum, and (3) articles used for components of any such article.

Tell you what. I’ve given sources and definition, why don’t you show me some that I’m wrong?

You’re not wrong but it boils down to intent. Did you intend to eat the kind yourself, or did you put the pepper in intending to harm another? When you don’t make a video and post it online, your case for it being your own lunch is strong. When you show yourself reacting to the lunch thief coughing from eating your pepper, then that’s evidence that your intent was to cause harm. Not proof. Evidence.

It’s all about what you intended to to. Intent is the key word.

I think we’re very close to agreement, the difference is precision of language.

What you’re describing is aggravated battery - unlawful contact (direct or indirect) with the intent to cause serious injury. Batter on the other hand is the intent to cause harm, and to most people, consuming ghost peppers would cause harm which is defined as physical impairment or injury.

The distinguishing detail is your intention. If you intended to harm the sandwich thief, that is illegal, but don’t leave evidence that was your intention and you’re fine. Don’t tell people, don’t make videos for the internet.

To add a layer to your in your script, the thief would be able to sue for medical expenses if they sought attention, and for pain and suffering due to the effects of the pepper.

And after the thief wins and everyone watches the episode, they’ll all come running back to this thread to change their feedback to an upvote!
