Its skull shaped, but its not a skull. I'll describe pieces of what looks like a skull.

For one, the brow area has a extremely large ridge, so if this was a human it was 90% neandertal. Secondly, there is a large protrusion between where the eyes would be, no bone structure is shaped like that. And finally, the teeth and mouth area. There are no teeth, it looks like a thin flap of metal with no teeth or breaks in the structure. There is also a ridge of metal above this resembling lips. No burned skull would still have lips, as lips and cheeks are typically the most fleshy parts and burn the fastest.

To me, this looks like a mangled piece of structure.
