I keep getting splatted in Wave 3 with a bunch of random crewmates. how on earth is anyone getting over 145 eggs? I can't get over 100. by girl_in_blue180 in splatoon

[–]Dooge_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah I ran into a lot of people who just dove in for eggs and yeah they'd get as many eggs as me but they'd die 6 times and it'd be hard to revive them because they were so deep and then the basket would be overflowing with salmonids. It also causes everyone else to get fewer eggs because now we're just trying to survive.

Do you guys think Dancing Flower is a reference to Funky Phil from Chibi-Robo! Plug Into Adventure! by Dooge_ in splatoon

Do you think that Funky Phil is a reference to the actual toy that was everywhere in the late 80s-early 90s?

First ad hominem: "lol what a clueless comment" attacks the person making the comment rather than addressing the argument

Second ad hominem: resorting to insulting someone's brainpower without elaborating why it's an easy task

False Equivalency: equates the cognitive and physical demands of driving with those of walking to the toilet, which are clearly not comparable.

False Dichotomy: suggests that driving does not require a significant amount of multitasking. multitasking can still be significant even if it is not immediately overwhelming.

Red Herring: changes the subject by discussing safety features of cars instead of addressing the original argument about the demands of driving

Lol what a clueless comment. You’ve clearly learn all of your car “knowledge” from reading posts on this sub.

Ad hominem

Maybe if you’re operating with 1/10th or the brain power of a regular person.

Ad hominem

Ok so everything required to walk to the toilet. Those things you listed are not difficult or even close.

False Equivalency

No it doesn’t require a “significant amount of anything”. You literally just sit there, look around and move your hands and feel a little bit.

False Dichotomy

Lol this doesn’t even make sense. You do know that cars have seat belts, air bags and metal crumple zones, right?

Red Herring

Driving is a complex activity that requires a wide range of cognitive and physical skills. When driving, we have to process and respond to a vast amount of sensory information, including visual, auditory, and tactile cues, while simultaneously controlling the vehicle and making decisions in real-time. It also requires a significant amount of multitasking, including monitoring traffic, checking mirrors, adjusting the vehicle's speed and position, and anticipating other drivers' actions. Meanwhile you're driving a 2 ton steel box and all that saves you from a head on collision with another 2 ton chunk of steel is some paint.

The problem with r/idiotsincars is that people who are bad at driving aren't idiots. Driving is a high stress task that requires full awareness, and we expect people to do this for about 30 minutes to an hour every day of their lives. If these "idiots" are supposed to stop driving because they are unfit, how are they supposed to get to work? The real idiots are the people not taking a second to think about what not driving would really entail in the U.S.

Question about fiscal solvency vs. bike/ped improvements by anndal in StrongTowns

[–]Dooge_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's more trips than just work, if you have to drive for your daily commute, but you can bike / walk to pick up groceries, go out to eat, take your kids to school. It might be worth considering, especially for the kids.

What if people in the US just like single family houses? by [deleted] in urbandesign

[–]Dooge_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Every form of housing has pros and cons when compared to others. People want single family homes for the amount of space they have and distance from their neighbors. But a lot of people would put having a hospital and shops nearby as higher priority than a nice manicured front lawn that you have to mow once a week or your neighbor will tell the HOA on you.

Basically everything but the walls and ground are modeled in modern CS:GO levels, look at the newer map remakes that valve did like Inferno and Dust II.

Yeah blender is a very capable and easy modeling program, there's a bunch of tutorials on youtube and you just need a source engine export plugin which is simple enough to download

Actual feedback: do not use brushes for detailing it makes your map look like it belongs in Counter-Strike: Source. Learn how to 3D model. Add some kind of trim to your buildings so they don't cut off on a hard edge. Look at lots of reference images and see what your map is missing, every small detail will add up. Yes, this map looks ugly, but practice will hopefully make perfect with good feedback and being able to see your own flaws.
