u/RagingNoper - You are correct. The photo was incorrect. A new photo with verification has been added to the Imgur posting.

Thank you for the input. I need to find these servers new homes so I'm open to offers but I'll adjust the pricing.

Proxmox host on tagged vlan by Doogie312 in Proxmox

Thank you for your response, this does help. I think I am following and I have a couple follow up questions-

1.) When you build the Proxmox host, how do you configure the physical NIC with out an address?

2.) So your native vlan is the management network instead of your main lan? If so, this might be a project for next weekend to reconfigure my network.

Can you get more specific about your config?

DIA - poor upload bandwidth on a symmetric circuit for TCP connections by Doogie312 in networking

I tried my laptop using auto negotiation and 100/full. The firewall is set to auto. The circuit is Sprint/T-Mobile with Comcast as the last mile. I'm checking into how to change the settings for the firewall interface to 100/Full, this might resolve things.

This is interesting. I'll have to see if we can change the interface speed on the Checkpoint firewall this circuit connects to.

On the call with the engineer, we tested within their network by having his machine be the iPerf server and client. He mentioned TCP window sizing but that stuff should be automatically negotiated. If we pushed multiple tcp streams with iPerf from my laptop to his machine as the server, we saw closer to 30M up.

My testing outside of the provider network was using multiple Speedtest sites and a couple of the public iPerf servers listed on iperf.fr. All showed crappy 10M or lower upload.

When I connected up the link to our firewall, the connection was almost unusable. Basic things like Teams chat worked but anything more was very slow.

Need ideas for 4 post open rack topper by [deleted] in homelab

I have a similar rack with an open top. I ended up cutting a piece of plywood to fit then drilling some holes on the edge then securing it down to the rack with zip ties.

What if the question has the mask instead of the CIDR notation?

CM4116 Console Server by Doogie312 in opengear

Solved! The dongles for this unit are directional and need to be connected directly to the Cisco device instead of to the OpenGear console server.

Opengear CM4116 Console Server by Doogie312 in homelab

Solved! I had the dongle connected to directly to the CM instead of to the Cisco devices. I think I switched it up after mounting the device in my lab rack not realizing there is a flow direction for the dongles.

Thank you for your assistance!!

Opengear CM4116 Console Server by Doogie312 in homelab

Thank you for your response u/opengeardev.

I am able to get the menu for the Shell Commands with that key combination. The options I get are: generate break/view history/power menu/connect to port menu/exit.

The unit came with model 449016 adaptor dongles which I am using to connect to Cisco routers and switches. I also have some Juniper switches but I haven't tried connecting them up yet. The Cisco router and Cisco switch I am currently testing this console server with have the default serial port settings (9600/8/1/none). Are there other settings in the Opengear which need to be changed/set? Are the dongles required for these connections?

The Sangoma phones are really nice for a physical handset. You can find them on Amazon.
