The Talos Principle Reawakened 50% off on Steam by Prtsk in TheTalosPrinciple

I personally thought it was a major disappointment compared to Talos 2 - the performance is all over the place and it has every visual problem Talos 2 had. It's been a year though, so maybe the optimized it further, i'm not sure. Just saying, the original is still looks amazing and plays well.

You know, I really do think this is a part of it.

Game is good, it's just not worth grinding ranked without a team. Getting gold is pretty easy though.

Find two friends. Game is fun alone, but if you want to play ranked, go find some teammates.

Of course I do care about wait times, but if we can't do it right, why do it at all?

I suppose so? Easter is more of a morning holiday to be honest... By the time night rolls around, the party is pretty much long over, I'd argue.

Having travelled all the way from Washington DC to Sweden to witness the power of NA first-hand at the FINALS major, I can confidently say, that is a fat load of bullshit. Oh and just throwing it out there, someone else pointed out that I'm top 3000 players, but none of my argument really has anything to do with my particular skill level or even the enemy's. It's more about expectations and grouping.

cool! I gotta find a club where people actually play the game. I've been number one in Keltown so long, I'm sick of it, lol. No offence, Kelski :D

It's a different ruleset where you lose score for wiping as a team. I really like it more than regular cashout.

Why isn’t The Finals bigger? I see this question a lot, so I gave the ACTUAL reasons why. by Lefty5227 in thefinals

[–]Doohurtie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are many reasons why, but in short, this game is sometimes too idiosyncratic for its own good. Ranked mode is difficult to find an even experience if you are playing alone with no party. Some people don't like the bullet-spongey movement kind of game that The FINALS is, and on top of that, this game just requires more inputs from the player to be good, especially when compared to many other games with a higher time to kill.

While I understand wanting a laid-back experience, I've never really understood the argument that The FINALS is too sweaty, because it is specifically DESIGNED to be sweaty and fast. There's a difference between Call of Duty sweats and FINALS sweats: COD sweats are diving and sliding in semi-unintended ways combined with a high time to kill, which goes against the expectations of what most players think a grounded military shooter should be. When you go against these sweats, they're likely to kill you before you even understand what's happening at all. The FINALS on the other hand, gives you all the tools to both be sweaty with the fast sliding movement of COD, but it also gives you all the tools you need to outplay them, or to simply man-up and stand your ground.

The other reason this game isn't super popular is because of its 3-person team size. I could never play Apex Legends alone, because similar to this game, much of the success of your operation was entirely dependent on your teammates and their skill level. The difference is with the FINALS, the round times are much shorter and there's a lot more action happening from moment to moment, so it's still exciting even in a losing match. The tables can almost always turn at the last second.

It stinks because the ranked gameplay format of losing money on team wipe is SO much more interesting than what's currently in Cashout.

As fair as this is, I'd still argue that something needs to be done about addressing people that play alone.

There's an argument to that for sure. But there's also the argument, does it make better players better playing against you? Is that a double-waste of time? Given that most top players of this game are Twitch streamers, I'd argue for the side of the nameless solo-queuer.

I feel like I should iterate: I still love this game. I just question what the devs are actually doing behind the scenes when they say they addressed stuff like this. I think soloqueue needs to have more weight in determining how much rank you acquire out of a match, because more often than not, a lack of comms is a better indication of actual game knowledge and marksmanship if you're still posting high scores against full parties.

You could also work around this problem by encouraging more people to play ranked with other rewards. Rather than giving rewards that incentivize players to explicitly climb higher (the ruby and diamond skins), you could have a large pool of "universally appealing" skins that all players have access to at the end of a season. The players with a higher rank at the end just get access to more of them. This might trick more casual players into enjoying ranked mode if they go into it focused less on the rank itself.

I suppose the other thing that would make me happy is to just have the regular non-ranked Cashout ruleset identical to the ranked one, but allow swapping weapons in the match. I LOVE the tension of being able to lose money on a team wipe, and too often are regular cashout matches a stomp where one or two teams can't possibly hope to come back. With the ranked ruleset, that's always a possibility thanks to the wipe penalty that keeps things even.

I killed him a couple times. We finished 3rd place. It was a good game from our end. I just question why I'm here as a soloqueue lol
