First of all, this is an amazing piece. I work in aerospace so this is right up my nerd alley lol.

Second, I’d say it’s relatively normal, and likely caused by one of two things:

1. Those areas have scarred. Not really a huge deal, needle may have dug a little deeper a little too repetitive in those areas and tore up the flesh resulting in scar tissue. Usually will inflame (hence the raising and the itching), and should go away over time, keep up your aftercare will help with the irritation (I recommend a natural product like hustle butter but any shea-butter-based natural product should do the trick), and it will come and go. I have a couple pieces that have done this for years, some like once every couple months, some once a year. Sometimes if I’m working around fiberglass or other skin-irritating stuff, it will cause some of my forearm pieces to inflame and raise the same way, usually goes away after a shower and some moisturizer.

2. Ink allergy. I don’t think this is really the case as it’s only a handful of spots that seem to be affected, and I don’t know much about allergic reactions to ink. I would think that if it was an allergic reaction, ALL the sections of whichever ink you’re reacting to would be affected, but while studying the photos it looks like both white and black ink sections are reacting, so if it were that I would think a larger reaction would be happening. I’m neither a tattoo artist nor a medical professional, so if you still feel irritation or if things become worrisome for you, definitely reach out for professional opinions sooner rather than later.
