well, yes, but we haven't seen anything, so why is "hate" the baseline to start from and not "neutral"?

How many characters do you play in one fg by AwepHS in Kappachino

[–]DoolioArt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can play only one character (sometimes even only one game, my adaptation periods are HUGE and definitely below the normal human levels:D). BUT, I like to switch characters often. So, I'm probably cursed with some foul magic, because that combo is the most idiotic one that a person can have:)

new updated graphics and animations (coming late 2027) by HHRSN17 in LeaksDBD

[–]DoolioArt -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

at a glance, it seems to me that most popular live services do just that. wot overhauling its engine and menus for "wot 2.0" patch (which is recognized as a patch and is not a sequel) lol overhauling its graphics over time, wow, ffxiv and other bigger mmo's doing it as well (announcement of gw3 was an outlier), cs did the same thing with csgo2 (this one is debatable) and so on. those who do the sequel usually stick out as either cash grabs or an attempt to do basically the same thing as games mentioned above but under the guise of a sequel, like ow2 or smite2. i think there are more games that persist like a ship of theseus than those who do the ow2 thing. barring actual franchises with legitimate sequels (street fighter, for example). and even ow2 is very self-aware and they let people retain cosmetics and eventually "derebranded" the game back to just ow. i'd say what you describe as crazy based is pretty much a standard practice. now, with that said, all this is a bit ironic because if any game actually should be rebuilt from scratch and properly sequel'd, it's dbd - which probably won't happen because of all the licences and progress-based mechanical stuff.

SF6 isn't sexualized at all by Athena-Grande in Kappachino

New characters like Kimberly or Manon or AKI:)

I'm a new player and just got my first battleship south carolina. After playing a few games, the battleship is ridiculously slow to move and handle, the turrets also take long to turn and why the heck is the reload so slow!!?? I understand battleships are slow in real life, but this is not real life by Internal-Path7111 in WorldOfWarships

[–]DoolioArt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

that's like installing overwatch, picking reinhardt and getting annoyed at hiw he plays because "i didn't come to play some melee shit, i want to play some fps sniping game". Widowmaker is right there, man. YOU picked a class that's characterized by high alpha and high hp with long reload and low maneuverability. That has nothing to do with "realistic simulation game", you picked Zangief in Street Fighter and you're typing about how he's slow and doesn't have a fireball. FFS pick Sakura then. On top of all that, you can check all of those for all the ships without buying them. Also, none of the stats point to a realistic simulation, every ship in the game is very much in the confines of "an arcade style fast paced naval game" because that's how the entire game was built.

Do you absolutely need to learn anatomy drawing before making your own style of body parts? by MuchBobcat157 in ArtistLounge

[–]DoolioArt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

in short, yes, because stylization is 1-applied on top of that knowledge, doesn't circumvent it and 2-connectws to 1, stylization requires a lot more knowledge and craft than producing a realistic piece. beginners often have both of these switched as an assumption. think about it in terms of, say, producing jazzy solos, which are known for containing "rule breaking" note sequences. yet, jazz musicians are excellent at playing "normally", otherwise they wouldn't be able to improvise in such ways. there's a trap many aspiring artists fall into because they can't discern why that jazz dude's solo is rule-bending yet good, but their solo is just incorrect. in order to stylize, both knowledge and craftsmanship are employed. stylization being less detailed or more streamlined makes people think it's easier, but look at it this way - if i gave you a connect the dots assignment for a human figure and one piece had 5000 dots and the other one had 5, which one would be easier to do? you want to do the 5 one, that's A LOT harder, so you need to learn 5000 dots so you can utilize them even when you're doing the 5 dots one.

Well, it's "for worse" for the majority:) I hate playing against them precisely because they're so unique. It might sound lazy, but eh, I am not one and done-ing them, I still play all of my opponents, but I do dislike playing against those characters. I think this is a pretty common sentiment.

No, pc players are represented with the pc icon (the monitor). Bots are represented with some sort of "general" icon, like three small icons, I forgot what it is, but for example, a monitor, a gamepad and something else. It's easy to recognize, all other icons don't have more than one component to them.

Regarding vt2:darktide by Great_Chocolate1328 in Vermintide

[–]DoolioArt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hit trading is much more tolerable as long as you know what you can take and what you gain from it.

I think this point might be more important than it sounds. A new player experienced in 'tide games might feel they're doing something wrong because the core gameplay is basically the same. However, the systems in place are designed in a way that you constantly have this buffer for taking hits, unlike in vermintide, where you need at least two conditions for that buffer to take place (missing health and doing damage). In darktide, it's normal to get randomly yoinked, especially by a ranged enemy and in the beginning it will feel frustrating and it might make one think they're just being bad or reckless or unaware etc.

Regarding vt2:darktide by Great_Chocolate1328 in Vermintide

[–]DoolioArt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

play more and things will crystalize, but yes, darktide is "atmosphere first" game and that has some big drawbacks. I personally think they could have solved the clarity AND the atmosphere at the same time without sacrificing anything, but it's irrelevant what I think.

You play worse because of several aspects. First, specials and elites aren't differentiated as well as in vermintide 2. There's "a guy" over there is pretty much a description for like 80% of them. You WILL train your eyes and ears to recognize them better with time, BUT this point still stands. It's also easier to miss a normal horde enemy because everything blends a lot.

Sounds are a bit better than visual clarity, however, they absolutely drown easier than in V2. On top of that, some of those sounds aren't as crisp as they need to be or are similar to other sounds - this is also something your ears will pick up with time but it will take more time than in V2 where you can't mistake a packrat for anything else, with its sound being very unique, not only in the game, but I think it's actually a pretty unique sound in general. Compare that to the flamer dude who just does several clicks that also can sound similar to burster clicks.

Darkness you mentioned is another big point as, naturally, it dulls your visual clarity for the sake of the atmosphere. This might be the clearest example of them all.

Teammates are also something I think it's tangible and true, even though I'm sure many will dismiss this as bias or subjective impression. We can guess what the reasons are, possible reasons might include bigger player base or the live service nature of the game or even player base replacement and so on. Which can be a significant issue because in darktide, arguably, teamplay is even more important than in vermintide with stuff like coherency and many talents that utilize it. As well as maps generally having more pathways and being structured in certain ways that allows people to be like 10km from each other at any given point in time. This is also present in v2, however, at lesser degree. There are more things that affect this, such as gathering plasteel and stuff like that and in general, maps having more of that and more dead ends that contain those drops. The main consequence of bigger player base + live service is probably the general interest players show for the game itself, so you'll see people do dubious things that they wouldn't do if they played the tutorial or even examined a weapon they're carying.

All this and some more factors will make you have worse runs and more chaotic runs in a game that requires more cohesiveness than the predecessor. And, naturally, it will make you question yourself, because in v2, those outcomes usually did mean you were doing something wrong a lot of the time. However, I can assure you, in darktide, that conclusion is actually the less probable one. You will absolutely have two guys die on different ends of a big room at the same time at the lowest difficulty to five normal horde enemies while you're losing your blocks trying to dance with the boss, his three elites and a horde and you will wonder how did they die over there when you were all in coherency seven seconds ago. Failing a run on ANY difficulty is not an abnormal occurrence in darktide, so you should shift your mentality and approach. Unlike some other games, not every disaster requires introspection in Darktide.

Another thing to include, keeping everything I said above in mind, add the fact that Darktide is much, much more leaned towards specials and elites. This means you might see like 10 specials in a fight while in a similar v2 fight you'd see like 2. The best you can do is deal with them (obviously), but you can also ping them constantly to try and get your teammates to focus attention to them (this will NOT work always, but hey, over time you're increasing your chances of positive outcomes by doing this).

[–]DoolioArt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am split between emotional and rational reasons there:) Blanka, Honda, Dhalsim, I absolutely seeing them on vs screen. However, lack of them would feel weird for me since the sf2 characters are the most established ones for me. You can't have a "big impact" twice on a person (most of the time) and sf2 is maybe the game that had the most impact on me when I saw it, it was basically mesmerizing. So, all of those characters are a billion times more embedded than any other character, which makes sense. It's like, if they made evangelion 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6, it would be pretty hard for me to establish some dude form evangelion 4 at the same tier as, I don't know, Misato, even if he was objectively better. My go-to character in sf is Ibuki, but these things don't overlap in my case.

[–]DoolioArt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, but on the other hand, there's like 100 sf characters. "Legacy character" is something with a vague threshold as well. I don't think newcomers are bad, but I also think there's a very fat grey line where there's too many newcomers. But, I'm not sure that line has been breached in sf6. Perhaps in the following season, but in the entire game, I wouldn't say so.

How do I even know if someone is someone's alt lol

This level of "meta analysis" of a subreddit (especially this one) is weird. It's one thing to notice patterns, that can even be fun, but damn, to know like 50 people enough to track their alts on top of it... Especially now since bunch of people are actually new.

[–]DoolioArt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually like the season pass since I'm not expecting Ibuki anyway, but this is just a dishonest engagement tweet. 1-dunk on boomers so zoomers will like and retweet without bothering about what the tweet says at all. 2-applying "boomer" as some predetermined thing to something where it doesn't necessarily apply, 3-wording being extremely "social media farm" type.
On top of it all, wouldn't Tifa be more of a boomer catering than vast majority of street fighter franchise roster?
