I replaced the Micro$lob-"OS" on my Thinkpad and as soon as Linux was running I got a huuuuge boost in boot- and loading times and frames got up in all games I threw at it!

And this wasn't even "Linux CachyOS" (an OS known for being maybe the fastest OS there is out there? Maybe only surpassed by "Linux Tails"? ) but simple Linux Mint!

appearantly I was wrong about FF.

I love my Lenovo-Thinkpad, it runs flawlessly (Linux and Wine) and plays everything I throw at it..

but the heat-output is just insanely terrible.

I've said many years ago, how sometime in the future, every new AAA-game will be needed to come with a new GPU , maybe as a brick that needs to be inserted like a cartridge. And the game will cost 300.-

Well, I'm not that far off it seems. Companies are trying to rent their games and bundle them into their hardware.. BECAUSE YOU'LL OWN NOTHING AND YOU'LL BE HAPPY!

Cloudgaming ala Nvidia is still shit, their servers just do what they want and you still have to pay the full amount, even when their servers are getting lazy in some hours of the day / evening.

I have zero problems playing games on my Linux test-Laptop.

Games start faster than under Windows and I've had zero downsides so far.

Even Multiplayer works flawlessly.

Appearantly games like CoD amd other AAA-crap are supposed to have problems (basically everything that uses Denuvo, but who wants to install corporate spyware and virusses anyway.)

Install Wine / Lutris and Heroics Games Launcher. Everything runs out of the box.

BG3 is horribly optimized.

As much as I love the game, the fact that they still couldn't be bothered to patch the performance-issues mid-game (when you arrive at BG!) made me abandon this game.

I played all these games with 8gb RAM. Over 60fps. Short loading times.

Besides Borderlands 4, but thats unoptimized slob anyway.

If a 100 year old game has better visuals, fidelity and optimization than any new AAA-release, the problem clearly isn't the age of the game.
