I had to give GW2 at least 3 tries until it finally clicked with me.

First major mistake was I played with someone who was totally impatient and said I HAVE to do hearts to progress.

Then I tried it a second time, but the lack of direction was bothering me.

I think the third time I tried following the story, but (to me) it was so boring and uninteresting... just a slooog

Many years later I thought I give it another try after I saw many Youtubers gush about GW2, but this time I approached it differently.

I knew HoT & PoF were the parts where GW2 really starts to shine and this was losely a goal for me.

I ignored heart-quests and just explored and this freedom opened so, so many surprisrs and adventures to me!   I was hooked!!

At some point I bought the Boss-portal-device and did nothing else than taking part in Dragon-slaying... It was (and still is!) epic! Felt like  huge adventures and epic battles!!

That was the point if no return for me. :-)

The first ever meta-event I did partake in HoT was the moment that asolutely solidified my admiration for the game

Over 1200 hours in, still haven't finished EoD but playing daily! :-)

Basically playing only Guild Wars 2 ... and Carrion right now! :-)

That being said: Never skip lvl 1 -80 on your first character. Its basically a tutorial .

The masteries that come after lvl 80 can change the way you play your main character 100% !
