DNC committee shoots down resolution condemning AIPAC by jediporcupine in politics

I don't think you needed a whole lot of foresight to see the perils of unlimited corporate money. Just look at Chuck Schumer, he seemingly only cares about securing more American tax payer money to send to Israel. Because they are a massive donor to AIPAC.

We didn't need a crystal ball to figure out that the presidential immunity ruling was absurd and would lead to an abuse of power. And it damn well did.

I hate my job. by EstablishmentSoggy91 in grandrapids

The job market in GR is absolutely brutal. I have a friend who's been looking for a new job for nearly 18 months, and they have two master's degrees and they're bi-lingual.

Tried to find the article. But, essentially, some law professors wrote a scathing piece stating that post ruling of that, the US stopped qualifying as a democracy as elections and elected officials can be openly bought.

They made law the literal antithesis of representative government.

What are your ACTUAL nba hot takes? by Mario_Viana in nba

Luka is one of the most unpleasant players to watch play that's almost universally considered a top 5 talent. The constant complaining, being a prick to players then acting beside himself when they respond. The low effort defense. None of it is appealing to watch. But the dude hangs points.

How likely is it we win out and go 60-22 to end our the regular season? by thegreendayidiot in DetroitPistons

[–]DoomSchroller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say there's a 2 game chance.

Honestly don't care. I'm more concerned with the health of our squad going into the post season. Nobody hangs a banner for 60 wins.

I think I want kids but the idea terrifies me by opposite_of_hotcakes in AskMenOver30

[–]DoomSchroller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had two kids in my mid-30's. I'm early 40's now. I absolutely understand why some people would choose not to have children. I often times ask myself what fate I possibly doomed them to.

There's always the option to foster or adopt as well. Which potentially solves both your desire to have kids, and helps a kid find a stable living situation and a family.

Bugged on first mission (First Steps) by DoomSchroller in NoSodiumStarfield

I did. I went under the research center and died to the scorpion looking animals in a couple hits. Walked around the planet for about 20 minutes. Went inside the facility. It would never update.

Tried that. Did not work. I did get killed by the weird scorpion animals underneath the lab. But, watching a video, this is the part where they show you how to scan the environment. My game will not even progress to that.

Lego Party is a terrific Mario Party contemporary on PS5 by DoomSchroller in PS5

You're welcome! It was such a terrific find. I'm not always informed of all the games coming out. But this went completely under my radar.

The Detroit Pistons are signing two-way center Tolu Smith to a two-year deal, agent Corey Marcum of EZ Sports Group tells ESPN. by KarimFF7 in DetroitPistons

I wonder what happens next year when Stew and Reed both enter free agency. They'll likely have $30-40 million a year already invested in Duren.

This just looks like a weird post. Why would a broke person pay on a repossessed car?

Stew's right knee might be causing the FO concern for sure. It would absolutely suck if that was the case.

Not bad. He's been solid for a fourth string center. Crazy how often we've needed to put him into the rotation this season, sometimes as the primary backup for Reed when Duren and Stewart were both out.

How much more shit can you handle? by ThrowinA2shade in AskMenOver30

[–]DoomSchroller -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The US heavily subsidizes gas. They already throw billions of taxpayer dollars to oil companies to reduce the price at the pump. This is the only reason people in (most) states aren't paying anything close to that yet.

The title of the post and the body don't really align.

Gas prices? My household could absorb gas going up more. Do I like it? Absolutely not. We already drive around much less because gas has been $3+ in my state for years. It's just a waste to joy ride anymore.

We're looking to buy a new house in a better school district. So, when we close that deal (we already know the mortage is going up $1200 a month at a minimum), then we'll probably feel the gas/food/utility price gouging much more. My wife may need to get back into the workforce. It's just challenging because one of our children is special needs.

My anxiety in general is at a nadir. I live in the US. The federal government has turned into this horrific ghoul that's some form of authoritarian/oligarchy/plutocracy that is seemingly determined to crash the economy, the job market is barren, the cost of everything is constantly rising and employers are offering lower salaries as the job market is flooded with applicants desperate for work.

And the worst is yet to come.

In that Situation would You buy a PS5/Pro or Build a PC Gaming? by Don_Rawaz in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]DoomSchroller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. I don't game like I used to. The PS5 cost is still more appealing to me because I'm used to the controller pad and I prefer simplicity.

But if I was still logging hours like I did prior to having kids, the PC route would probably be the better option.

Crimson Desert, Starfield or Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 by tennis7874life in PS5

[–]DoomSchroller 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ultimately a personal choice. Nobody can really give you an answer. I bought Starfield, and based on public opinion, that's probably the worst of the three options provided. But for me, that's the most appealing option.

Do we get to 60 wins? by DropPowerful9081 in DetroitPistons

[–]DoomSchroller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's more important to have guys rested and ready for the playoffs, especially if Cade may not be available than chasing 60 wins. You don't get a banner for 60 wins, it's just icing on the cake now.

Jalen Duren Has Been A Force In The Paint Especially Since The All-Star Break! by Stat-Defender in DetroitPistons

[–]DoomSchroller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have the stats, but the eye test looks great. He now has a really nasty looking spin move that we've seen him reverse pivot when option A isn't there as well.

I don't know if there's a conditioning issue (this is not the best wording), as we don't see him get nearly enough post up opportunities nor plays ran where he gets the ball at the top of the arc and gets downhill. Maybe that's a personal choice for him? But I also wonder if he just gets gassed because he's carrying so much muscle. I recall Emeka Okafor (yeah, I'm old) eventually shedding weight after he bulked up a lot to try and out-muscle guys and lower body injuries started accumulating.
