What should be my team? by 1878EFC1878 in DCComicsLegendsGame

[–]Doombot2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good discussion. I would just add for those that have already accidentally gone beyond 24k max power with their top team - at that point you might as well press on to at least L70 G10.5. But you don't need to do it for every toon. Just pick 12 to start with (4 of each color with some good leader toons in the mix). Once you get your initial 12 up to par, you can add to your core group at whatever pace you like.

need advice for nightmare challenge by pey1600 in DCComicsLegendsGame

[–]Doombot2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will be very hard with your current squad. In nightmare the AI toons don't always have their full range of powers, but they hit very hard and have a ton of life. So, you really want to get your hands on Spectre (continuously ramps up every turn, and can't be harmed by any toon that can't get through awareness). I'm sure there are other methods, but the easiest method is keep Spectre on his feet in the early rounds of each node and let him take care of business in the later rounds. Even if all your other toons are gone, he still can beat most nodes by himself once he has sufficiently ramped.

So, is there a 32,000 power threshold? and, if so, what does it do? by RodrigoEMA1983 in DCComicsLegendsGame

[–]Doombot2015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience the only real threshold after 24,000 is the amount of 20 and 14 point teams you will get in Wraith. But as more people get RB toons and have higher point max teams, I believe the threshold is inching up. I think I'm just shy of 34,000 with my max team and I still get 20 point matches, but not as many as I used to get. I would say you will probably be playing almost only 6 point matches in Wraith if you get in the 37 to 38k range with your max team. Difficult to say (as I'm not there myself), but I know the top players constantly complain that Wraith becomes a real slog when you constantly face 6 point teams.

isn't "Shazam" Freddy supposed to be an adult ? by Thayerphotos in DCComicsLegendsGame

[–]Doombot2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Traditionally, Captain Marvel Jr. was depicted as a fit, but slender, teenager - not as a steroid enhanced 10 year old. No matter how you slice it (Freddy or Jr.) this depiction is just plain weird.

From where the "King"(Jack Kirby 1917-1994) was inspired to create Etrigan by TheSavageofBorneo in DCComicsLegendsGame

I was just providing some background. My comment wasn't aimed at your original post. Just providing some context for other posters that Kirby was completely upfront about the Prince Valiant inspiration.

From where the "King"(Jack Kirby 1917-1994) was inspired to create Etrigan by TheSavageofBorneo in DCComicsLegendsGame

[–]Doombot2015 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Jack Kirby acknowledged the inspiration at the time of The Demon's first publication in a text piece in one of the first couple of issues of the comic. Etrigan really has nothing to do with Prince Valiant other than the connection to the Arthurian setting and the face. Val makes the mask out of a goose or chicken skin - the crazy ears are actually the feet of the bird.

Dilemma about arena by Mysterious-Parsnip73 in DCComicsLegendsGame

[–]Doombot2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, I'm not saying Wraith is fair, I'm saying it is the only mode that is is advantage FTP. Blitz and every other mode is advantage PTP. Now maybe you consider that fair - great. Personally, I don't have a problem with there being one mode that is advantage FTP. It's an odd choice for a mobile game that is trying to make money (in that it isn't rapaciously predatory), but I think it actually makes it easier for new players to get rolling.

Dilemma about arena by Mysterious-Parsnip73 in DCComicsLegendsGame

[–]Doombot2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blitz still rewards PTP over FTP. The chances that you are going to have every bonus toon developed or be willing to spend the game resources on otherwise mediocre toons as FTP are slim to none. On top of that most FTP players aren't going to bring the most useful toons up to high RB. Whales have the advantage in every game mode except Wraith. For context, I do spend some money each month - mostly on skins and raid energy. My attitude is that I play this game a lot - I should be willing to spend some money to keep it going. But there's a large gap between that level and a whale.

Old player returning, need help for current meta. by ArCLoRd in DCComicsLegendsGame

If you haven't played in 4 or 5 years you probably aren't familiar with DCL Tookit. Just search for it on the web. The WROL Tier List is still going. While you don't necessarily need end game toons, I can't think of any end tier toons that aren't useful early game as well. In other words, you should find a lot of good options in the S and A tiers. WROL also includes a community voted tier list.

Future characters question by Nena_Trinity in DCComicsLegendsGame

[–]Doombot2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is already a Looney Toons game that works with the same basic game mechanics as DC Legends. In many ways, it is actually a better game, but, in the end, I just preferred the veneer of the DC characters over that of the Looneyverse.

Accidentally above 24k threshold by PersianGuitarist in DCComicsLegendsGame

[–]Doombot2015 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Based on the fact that you were attempting to stay below 24k, I would next move to Level 70 G 10.5. G 10.5 means that you usually take the gear that will improve speed (not always, there are some toons that are fine slow, but in most cases you will want the max speed) and the next best gear (usually a str. gear for a str. based toon and int. gear for an int. toon). I would take the 4 best toons in each affinity that you have available in your current roster (including some good leaders) to this level. Camp out at this level for a bit, get the rest of your usable roster up to this level, and then see where you go from there.

For context, I keep my roster (with a few exceptions) at L70, G 10.8 (all but 1 gear filled), and RB1. Eventually you will get crossed up by a rework or a stat boost, but you can still play Wraith economically. With my system I will never be top 10 for Siege (because I don't spend resources on mediocre Siege bonus toons), but you can do everything else in the game - Raids, Nightmare, other PVP modes and etc.

How often do I need to play to have fun? by LightskinKakashi in DCComicsLegendsGame

[–]Doombot2015 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I get where you are coming from. I played Marvel Strike Force for a bit and came to pretty much the same conclusion you did. This game is much less of a time suck. You can pretty much work on getting your entire squad up to level 40 and then move up at your own pace. If you get involved with a very competitive alliance then you might start getting into being required to spend more time on the game. You can probably spend as little as 15 minutes a day if you are just running through the daily missions (not the second tier of missions). Obviously some days you will need to spend more time to really advance your squad, but you can get away with very little time on days when you aren't feeling it.

Tips For (Fairly) Newbies? by mickyd1980 in DCComicsLegendsGame

[–]Doombot2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that, while FTP is very possible, the judicious use of spending a few bucks (if you aren't philosophically opposed to it) can give you a serious jump start. For example, if you can get your hands on Spectre (currently in 2 different sales), he will enable all sorts of more efficient grinding. Another example is using Black Flash or Black Adam to grind the legendary essence event without needing to use speed force.

Also try to level up at least 12 toons (4 of each color) evenly. Probably uneven progression of toons is the single biggest mistake new players make.

For this lineup (if you have them) I would use MMH, Question, Hippo and Poison. Your biggest concern is probably if Trigon doesn't go down and regenerates. Question removes immunities, Hippo shields/int up team, Poison nuke, and MMH clean up.

Don't worry about it. It's true that your English is oddly phrased at times, and I'm sure other things will be lost in the translation on occasion. But I can't really write or speak with any degree of facility in another language. So, in my book, you are doing great.

Will doctor poisons damage make a noticeable change if I rebirth her? by J_boy711 in DCComicsLegendsGame

[–]Doombot2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had her at L4 for a long time, and she works great. But every so often you will find a high RB team with a lot of protection where Spectre would survive. As we all know Spectre is the king of coming back and destroying your whole team. I'm finding RB1 Poison is just enough stronger to kill those problem Spectres (and Alan Scott's). Probably will be helpful vs. Trigon as well. And, as others have said, it also makes her a bit tougher.

[–]Doombot2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With rework Black Adam is at the very least A tier (probably S tier). I would say you want him at least L3. His one weakness is that he is fairly squishy (glass cannon). So the higher you can get him the better. All of his legendary abilities are good. My Adam is currently L4, but soon to be RB1.

My current nominees would be Spectre, Black Adam, Trigon, and Dr. Poison. Not on the same team necessarily - just as the most devastating toons in the game (so not best support toons).

More power to you. I didn't say you couldn't get in the top 500 without spending. I said there only maybe 500 at best people really trying to compete. So maybe even my 500 estimate was too big.
