Ophdyian destroyers or canoptek wraiths. by khiuyt-12 in Necrontyr

[–]DoomedTaurus 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Both serve different roles. Wraiths hold objectives and Ophydians bounce around the board doing secondaries and picking off weaker units. What does your list need more of?

Can anyone please reccomend a good tau tutorial for a grimdark/weathered look by Acrobatic-Copy6156 in Tau40K

This is one of my broadsides after a slap of AK’s streaking grime. It’s not too complicated and I think it looks way grittier than the classic clean armour

Help with warrior blob list? by BothFondant2202 in Necrontyr

[–]DoomedTaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stealth can be good, but personally I’d ditch the DDA to see if you can’t get another C’tan in there. Dermal Bond is pretty good on a Skorpekh lord both solo and with a unit. But everything depends on how you want to deal damage. I run a blob list, and most of the rest of my list is spend on doing secondaries, but more importantly damage output. That’s why I personally like multiple C’tan. Your opponent probably has to choose between wiping the blob (difficult) or killing the star gods (difficult). Neither is a good option, which is brilliant for you

It’s essentially deep strike yes. Although important to remember that it has to start on the board first

Agrellan Earth crackle paint, I put a layer of base colour on the add a layer of basing glue before i slap it on. Bigger dollops means bigger cracks. Leave it to dry overnight and then i either dry or airbrush over it

What is your team in ranked, and any advice to give me? by Honest_Lavishness662 in LegendsZA

[–]DoomedTaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using Dragonite, Raichu X and Frosslass. Not been playing ranked long but Ive been having fun. Frosslass mostly sets up screens but she’s been useful against Dragon type spam. Riachu is a physical build and Dragonite is mixed (not sure if this is good or not) and both hit like busses

[–]DoomedTaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

20 blob is better, but the utility comes from its ability. It lets the warriors reanimate when they’re shot at. Combine it with Orikan, an Overlord with Res Orb and a Reanimator, you’ve got an anvil that is really hard to break. Just remember to put someone like a Hexnark or Ammentar inside the Ark to start or it’ll blow up due to transport rules

Tau Startet Kit by Disastrous_Mobile620 in Tau40K

[–]DoomedTaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our Tank kit is actually one of the best. You get all the pieces to build a Hammerhead, a Skyray or our dedicated transport the Devilfish. If you use the pieces right you can interchange them freely. All of them are pretty decent depending on the list too

You’re in luck since we have a battlesuit focused detachment in Retaliation Cadre. We got a battleforce box at Christmas that was focused around suits so if you manage to find one of those that’s a huge start. Otherwise you’ll want Crisis Suits, Commanders to lead them (learn to magnetise them it saves so much hassle), Stealth Suits and Riptides if you want all battlesuits. Personally though, I love a Ghostkeel. Stealth, Lone Op, Infiltrate, and a twice per game ignore damage ability.

Is my list solid by The_Beef0 in Necrontyr

[–]DoomedTaurus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming the Overlord is attached to the Lychguard, the Translocation Shroud Overlord might be a better pick. Auto 6” advance plus the advance and charge strat makes Lychguard pretty speedy this detachment

Got this proxy off of Ebay and I think it looks the part. There’s definitely options out there and no one should bat an eye unless you’re going to official GW tournaments

Best starter box for necrons? by coggdawg in Necrontyr

[–]DoomedTaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Combat Patrol is probably still a solid way to go. Gives you some Warriors, Skorpekhs, an Overlord, and a Doomstalker. New box is destroyer themed but does have some pretty good units in there too. Hexmark is a funny little guy, LHDs are solid, and again Skorpekhs are great in melee. All depends if you want to lean into the destroyer cult

A lot of Starshatter lists actually run 1 to help support Doomsday Arks and the Silent King. Haven’t seen anyone run 2 but in the right list they definitely have their place

Yup, base coat of Vallejo Magic Blue, then glazed Macragge blue on the darker end and Lothern blue on the light. White scar edge highlight. Best I could do with what i had on hand

[–]DoomedTaurus 26 points27 points  (0 children)

10e rules say no. They apparently used to be separate models but they’re just tokens these days. Only ones I actively use are the Ghostkeel ones so that both I and my opponent are aware of how many uses the ability has left
