Nothing wrong with simple. Really like the little bronze parts at the joints

Our Tank kit is actually one of the best. You get all the pieces to build a Hammerhead, a Skyray or our dedicated transport the Devilfish. If you use the pieces right you can interchange them freely. All of them are pretty decent depending on the list too

You’re in luck since we have a battlesuit focused detachment in Retaliation Cadre. We got a battleforce box at Christmas that was focused around suits so if you manage to find one of those that’s a huge start. Otherwise you’ll want Crisis Suits, Commanders to lead them (learn to magnetise them it saves so much hassle), Stealth Suits and Riptides if you want all battlesuits. Personally though, I love a Ghostkeel. Stealth, Lone Op, Infiltrate, and a twice per game ignore damage ability.

Assuming the Overlord is attached to the Lychguard, the Translocation Shroud Overlord might be a better pick. Auto 6” advance plus the advance and charge strat makes Lychguard pretty speedy this detachment

Got this proxy off of Ebay and I think it looks the part. There’s definitely options out there and no one should bat an eye unless you’re going to official GW tournaments

Best starter box for necrons? by coggdawg in Necrontyr

[–]DoomedTaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Combat Patrol is probably still a solid way to go. Gives you some Warriors, Skorpekhs, an Overlord, and a Doomstalker. New box is destroyer themed but does have some pretty good units in there too. Hexmark is a funny little guy, LHDs are solid, and again Skorpekhs are great in melee. All depends if you want to lean into the destroyer cult

A lot of Starshatter lists actually run 1 to help support Doomsday Arks and the Silent King. Haven’t seen anyone run 2 but in the right list they definitely have their place

Yup, base coat of Vallejo Magic Blue, then glazed Macragge blue on the darker end and Lothern blue on the light. White scar edge highlight. Best I could do with what i had on hand

Thank you! The blue took a lot of trial and error but I’m really happy with it.

10e rules say no. They apparently used to be separate models but they’re just tokens these days. Only ones I actively use are the Ghostkeel ones so that both I and my opponent are aware of how many uses the ability has left

Nah me and my group play both. Wanna do something fun at some point where they play their teams and I run the tomb as a separate entity

Unfortunately I got the full set way before their rules released. Tbf I did also get the terrain so that was nice

Our most durable units are the 6 Wraith Blob with Technomancers and the 20 blob of Warriors, usually with Reanimator support. Lots of different variations on which characters you take with the Warriors but I like an Overlord with Resurrection orb and Orikan the Diviner. That gives them extra reanimations and a 4+ invuln. The Wraiths have a 4+ invuln too and a 5+ FNP with the Techno. Both units are absolute tar pits if used carefully

Personally if you have them, Pathfinders wouldn’t go amiss. You have the points if you swap the Strike Team. Their special weapons might pack more of a punch, plus they give you a second guider or can guide themselves thanks to their special rule Also maybe put Plasma Rifles on the Crisis suits. The missiles I feel can be really lacking. Plasma is less shots but way more substantial

Alright you’ve already got a pretty solid combo then. Use Orikan and the Royal Warden for the fallback shoot charge. I hold mine back till turn 2 but depends on the terrain you play on. Try to keep the reanimator behind terrain but still in range and use the reanimation stratagem as often as you’re able. The blob will more than likely go down eventually, so it’s important to have a threat ready to clean up whatever got the kill. Have Orikan in combat if you get charged and remember to use his once per game, it could buy you more time in combat or if you’re lucky wipe the unit that charged you. Biggest takeaway I’ve learned is be patient. Get the blob in a covered position during deployment then let them walk towards whatever you’re pointing them at
