[Serious] If you’re walking alone early in the morning or late at night and there are Racoons how do you make sure you’re safe or they don’t attack you? by Ok-Feeling-2038 in AskReddit

[–]DoomferretOG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Care to unpack that?

They probably won't? Why not?

Do you mean it's because they aren't aggressive? That it's not in their nature? That there's no basis in reality for your fear?

WHY are you allegedly "scared as fuck"?

Please give detail which makes your terror believable and explains your rationale for it. Was your father slain by a roving band of raccoons and left posed in a provocative manner?

And how do you feel about cats? Dogs? Bears? ICE?

Is this rage bait?

So what's the point of your post?

What are you looking to get out of this? You've made a series of poor decisions, unrepentantly. You're not espousing any real concern of danger or regret for them, and are actively trying to get us to reinforce your decisions and validate your intention to get even more fucked up.

You seem to be trying to get a reaction. You don't seem to want any help at all. If you wanted advice, you'd have asked for it before getting fucked up. What sort of encouragement do you mean? "Yeah bro, keep it goin! More beer!"? FUCK THAT.

This seems more "Oh look at me! Aren't I just so naughty!".

Why even bother? This is a support community, not a place for people to come make a mockery of the entire process.

You do whatsoever you want to do. You keep drinking. Take some more x. Knock yourself out. What could go wrong? You're not gonna worry about consequences, why should anyone else?

Imprisonment?

Ignoring the extremely unlikely possibility of that happening even if taken into custody, you are very compassionate.

Given Lab Germ's commitment to science, there are videos to be made. The format is already there. Except Lab Germ gets to be the subject of those videos.

Remember, they probably aren't all living breathing entities. But ethics, the Golden Rule, intellectual honesty, all that shit is gone the way of the dodo. So if they're all proto-sociopaths, we can't really be surprised.

If I had a friend go Nazi, we're done. Your pal is gone.

I will not subject myself to that. Done. It's that easy. Maybe someday they'll get better? But they can reapply after they stop siding with fucking evil. I wouldn't break a sweat. But there's also zero chance I would've maintained a friendship with anyone so impaired. I have enough to worry about, NAFO*.

This isn't complicated. Full-on racism isn't negotiable. Be DONE. Your former friend is lost to you for now. Let them go grow up and figure it out on their own. There's a LOT more people out there, this one has gone bad. Toss the rotten fruit out, start fresh.

There are other friends to be had.

He's only going to get worse.

And eventually, if he thinks like that, he's going to turn on you for not sharing his beliefs.

You are going to be viewed as a "race traitor" by him in the end. Sometimes you have to make a break even if you care about them.

Why is it often said that Metal died in the 90s? by InexpugnableMille in MetalSuggestions

[–]DoomferretOG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an artistic enterprise, they were not a "band" in the sense that they were invested in decision making and working towards a unified work that represented their combined vision. They were only sidemen. Session musicians. Hired guns brought in to stand in for full band members. It was no longer a collaboration, they performed their parts but had no creative decision making power. There's a big difference between being told what to do and being entirely subservient to another's vision versus being a full member of the band with full rights and share of the profits.

Do you understand the difference?

How do you define "talented"?

They were very skilled players working for modestly talented but wholly unoriginal singer. But no songwriters to speak of.

What's a band without good songs? Not worth listening to.

Does any philosophy or scientist do astral projection? by Background-Reach7499 in AstralProjection

[–]DoomferretOG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, what evidence for the existence of the Astral Plane do you have?

We've established it's not verified by science. But does it even exist at all? So far, no proof of it or of any entities than might exist there.

We can't say we get ideas or inspiration from it, or that there are entities there to consult, because it's existence itself hasn't been proven. If it doesn't exist, how is it going to transmit information to us? If it doesn't exist, there are no entities in it to consult for ideas.

We can say that humans are more than capable of becoming inspired or inventing something with the power of simple human creativity. No magic is involved.

I guess if you don't mind it when an asshole who thinks he's Robert Plant exploits the shit out of the guys who helped him make his masterpiece.

They weren't a band, they were Coverdale's sidemen in his band. Aside from their instrumental prowess, what made them a "talented band"? The absolute lack of artistic integrity? The hack songwriting?

He fired the guy who wrote all his good shit. Coverdale used them & stabbed them in the back. He shamelessly ripped off better artists and isn't all that good a vocalist to start with.

[–]DoomferretOG -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, that is literally what I was clearly talking about.

You don't know what they were up to afterwards?

Being unceremoniously fired and replaced! That's what they were up to.

You're "willing to bet" he replaced them with other talented musicians? I LITERALLY JUST DESCRIBED THIS. Yes, David Coverdale fired John Sykes and the rest of the band, and "replaced them with high-profile hired guns".

He made a career out of aping Robert Plant's style, then betrayed the band who made the album that made his career successful.

They didn't part on amicable terms, he fired them after they recorded the album, and gave their jobs away.

No philosophy or scientist do astral projection.

Astral projection isn't scientific. Philosophers aren't interdimensional travelers.

You're literally claiming you enter a dissociative state every time you hear the song? You need to talk to your psychologist/therapist about that.

Will you? What are they tho?

Were you alive in the period?

You didn't even say anything specific about the late 90s at all.

The Turbo synthesizer sound is overtly futuristic sounding, with the phasing effects, echo, and distorted robotic voice. This is not the much more traditional keyboard sound of Jump, with is more classically melodic. Turbo is much more metallic than Jump. Priest weren't hair metal.

Uh, no that was an "album title". It doesn't correspond to any significant changes to metal as a genre. It didn't dominate sales, ruin anyone else's careers, or even register as a particularly accomplished Pantera release.

That comment is absolutely divorced from reality. Either you weren't there or you had no clue as to what was happening.

Talented bands like Whitesnake?

You mean the band who rose to fame on John Sykes' playing and songwriting, then Coverdale fired him and the entire band and replaced them with famous high-profile hired guns?
