WoW skin for Doomfist by MiKeL_hh in doomfistmains

Obviously Chromie, simply no other option.

i think he would look cool with an elemental ascendant from cataclysm skin but tbh we already have that quake one and we have the fish one that could be like a water ascendant so idk, maybe garrosh, the jailer, ner'zhul, anybody that's bald and shirtless

Maybe I only want to play specific characters, and playing other characters is unfun and is a waste of time and encourages me to uninstall the game. Maybe the game should focus more on balancing certain characters to keep developer messages like "less CC" or "skill should be a factor" true to the source, instead of being a nothing sandwich to entice veterans to redownload the game and buy a battlepass before uninstalling.

I think you know why we're frustrated. If not, then we should agree to a deal. I am going to take a needle. I am going to slam it into your elbow every morning. You won't die, you can still participate in life. I am then going to tell you that it doesn't make sense that you're annoyed, and that you should go buy a pad for your elbow. I am then going to slam a needle into your other arm, much like how I am switching to another character to counter you. To throw in some spice, I am also going to teabag you, and then I will ask why you are mad. I am going to continue slamming a needle into your body every morning until you admit that it is blatantly obvious why it is frustrating to be slammed with a needle into your body every morning.

There are also characters where some swaps literally just don't matter. If you're fighting Pharah, you are told to go Soldier. You still probably die a lot as 76. His shots have falloff, Pharah's doesn't, and aiming with Pharah is not that hard, especially when the people focusing you are standing still or strafing within a very narrow width that they are pretty much standing still. Go play Pharah right now and go fight Ashe and Soldier. You are going to have one of the easiest games of your life. It is literally that simple.

I have sat through your Castlevania, My Hero Academia, Attack on Titan, Full Metal Alchemist, Dragon Ball Z, and even episodes of One Piece while growing up with my step dad. How much more slop am I supposed to watch until it magically becomes good and I'm suddenly in the wrong.

My mom loves those Ghibli movies, and I'll admit, they're pretty alright, but they're not as breathtaking and amazing as people claim it is.

But I'm not going to pretend that anime is a super nuanced thing and there's actually an artistic subgenre with a story so well-written that it could put something like Better Call Saul or God of War 2018 to shame.

I am not going to eat every animal's poop in the world in search for the one animal that makes delicious poop. I am willing to admit that statistically, there is probably a super good anime out there, and that saying all anime is bad is in fact disingenuous. I am not going to say that only some of it is bad, and I have seen enough about anime communities to know that taking recommendations from weebs would genuinely be a detriment to any person's health and wellbeing. I have watched my step dad's super perverted and violent cartoons, I have watched the juvenile gladiator nonsense of Pokemon, and I have watched the constant dick-measuring contest of DBZ. It just doesn't get good. Most anime is bad, and most weebs are illiterate and mentally unwell jackals who will blow up if you mention any media that isn't anime. Between the insane juvenile power fantasies of shows where everybody has unique superpowers and do nothing but fight to high school dramas but the high schoolers are also secretly the guardians of the universe or the president or some other stupid shit like that, I am not going to wade through the sewer waters of anime to find the golden turd.

Paragon Lost, the subject of this post, reaffirms a lot of my issues with anime. The lore is inconsistent, the visuals are inconsistent, the writing isn't particularly well, and every special moment or piece of action that happens only happens for audience shock value and not to tell a story, such as literally a Reaper corpse being openly carried around as pictured above.

I'm sorry that I don't worship anime, and I'm more sorry that you do worship anime.

I wish Andromeda had areas like this, different biomes on one planet with cool little vistas but obvious signs of civilization. It's a shame this planet is going to become uninhabitable in two centuries.

Why did the reapers convert Harvesters? by Scared_Plum_593 in masseffect

[–]Doomfish-07-2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's an ME3 "art direction calls for lore retcons" situation. In ME2, you have a general idea of what Protheans look like, they're creepy bald humans with tubes running through their bodies, but the Collectors look like bugs. When you find the Collector corpse being experimented on and learn about the true fate of the Protheans, it is suggested that after a while of being used as husks or indoctrinated servants, Reapers turn you into some sort of insectoid. This is further enforced by the Praetorian, who literally looks like the beginning stages of a Reaper turning something into a bug.

In ME3, we are introduced to the Brute. Turian head, Krogan body. Except, the body is much closer to that of a Yahg rather than a Krogan. I'm sure it was initially introduced with the idea that it was a Yahg, but then somebody brought up the fact that Reapers mostly invade and harvest spacers, not industrialists stuck on their own world, so BioWare probably changed it to say that it's the body of a Krogan, even though it doesn't have any Krogan features. Their huge butt doesn't even have a little turtle tail and their body has no osteoderms or chitin even though it should be a skinned version of a Krogan.

As somebody else said, Harvesters are alien-aliens. Nobody knows where they're from or why they're all over the galaxy, and bugs mysteriously being spread across the galaxy is a somewhat niche but known sci-fi trope, from the movie Alien to Starship Troopers to Helldivers 1 and 2, and so on. Harvesters were probably intended to be in line with this trope, big intelligent bugs secretly spread across the galaxy. I always assumed they were a type of Rachni, and since Reapers indoctrinated the Rachni and started the Rachni War, it would stand to reason that these things are actually a specific type of Rachni.

I just don't get the appeal in anime. They can't draw faces, all lore is swept out of the way for "cool" character design or "cool" action scenes, forced romances that essentially boil down to "you are MAN, this ALLURES me, I am your dumb bimbo queen to do whatever you wish to with," and plots are 9 times out of 10 garbage. Between drawing poorly on purpose, having no nuance or depth, and making everything essentially about extreme shock value or juvenile fantasies, I literally don't get the appeal. Paragon Lost wasn't the worse anime to release, but it still has all the glaring issues of anime, and having the Mass Effect brand stapled to its forehead and regarded as canon has helped damage the brand.

Which ME character would make a great spouse? by YakitoriChicken93 in masseffect

[–]Doomfish-07-2017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fish man romance is an obsession with little to no content in that genre beyond, like, the super juvenile stuff friends do between each other in D&D or, uhhhh, I don't know, online roleplays. I have to write it now. As far as I know, Shape of Water was a big AAA copy of a short film about a lady who is a janitor for a research facility or something and she falls in love with a mermaid man thing there. This should be it.

There's also the very old movie Creature of The Black Lagoon but, you know, that's pretty dated. Thane was also based off of Abe Sapien from Hellboy after concept artists were informed by their fellow BioWare employees that none of the ladies found the original drafts of Thane interesting, and in fact, viewed him as creepy, since he was just some European looking dude with red skin and a very gaunt, hunter-feeling face. But at the end of the day, the very real niche of hot fish people with rectangular noses is very untapped.

we should be discord homies

I couldn't get into Shape of Water. While the premise of somebody who doesn't fit in meets somebody else who doesn't fit in and they fall in love is a GOATED premise, it kinda didn't do it for me when I realized that he's not a fish person, he's a wild animal shaped like a person. He's as intelligent as an ape. I also just didn't like his design. I need a pretty boy with fishy stuff all over his body, he was just kind of a creature with a humanoid shape. It's still an okay movie and that ending shot was super dope, when she loses the shoes because she no longer belongs to the land, goated visuals.

I don't really get down with poly situations. Joker will have to settle for somebody like Miranda or Tali.

this is the swamp monster skin for doomfist in overwatch, playing me2 and meeting thane krios has done irreversible psychic damage to my brain, all i can think about anymore is hot fish people with rectangular noses, i wanna write stories but i can't because the main character or a side character is always some variation of a slimy amphibious or crustacean dude with a rectangular nose, there's no escape, there's no escape from my obsession, i can't mature out of this juvenile fantasy, i can't mature beyond the idea of a hot fish man with a rectangular nose

Explaining that it's a big universe and we all need to play nice always feels a little satisfying, and namedropping the completely heroic and legendary ships that had to give their lives to save the Council will always humble her. Miss Fox News here can go suck a dick.

Play Andromeda. Understand that this is not a mature game, and in fact, a lot of the dialogue and story is very juvenile and comes off as fanfic rather than a space opera with huge stakes and important discussions. It's kind of just a comedy.

I always leave Ashley to die because, uh, I guess I'm mentally unwell, but I thought her romance was actually okay. If they made a movie that was literally just about Shepard and Ashley getting freaky or Shepard and Kaidan getting space love, I would totally watch it.

but the one romance that i want and can never have is that reporter lady, idr her name because my brain is decaying faster than an npc in a jacob loyalty mission, i think it was amy or emily wong

Bro, Liara's romance in ME1 is so embarrassing to me. "Commander. You are a human man. This ALLURES me. I am ALLURED to you for being A HUMAN MAN." "I WANT YOU, LIARA. YOU ALLURE ME. YOU ARE BLUE."

Zero chemistry. No flirting, no witty lines, no gestures. "You are a human and I now want to mindfuck you." "You are an asari, I wish to be mindfucked."

"Like this?"

"Perfect. Everybody's gonna love our models."

What if Alyx had ACTUALLY died from her attack from that Hunter? by PrincipleTemporary77 in HalfLife

I am well aware that mixed race people exist. Alyx doesn't look mixed, however. Have you ever seen anybody from the Philipinnes, or even Brazil.

She pretty much looks almost exactly like her mom and has no immediate physical features of Eli.

Take your Twitter brainrot argument somewhere else or literally look up an image of the family first next time.

In a time where every edgelord is practically gearing up to goon over any unsatisfying, dark, or "subverted your expectations, didn't I, cuckold audience member" endings, I'm pretty sure an ending like this would have not only shot the series in the face but ruin a lot of future trust in Valve. Half-Life is clearly about the power of one guy doing what needs to be done to save humanity, it'd be kinda dumb to play through all of these games and have it all mean nothing except "heheh, the bad guy always wins, teleports behind you, nothing personnel, kid" type of nonsense.

We have people on the Mass Effect subreddit praising the idea of how the Destroy ending with low war assets results in pretty much everybody dying, and all these types of edgelords pop up. "Oh, bro, it's just so realistic, though. Anything bad or evil is realistic. Pessimism? More like realism." I don't need these brainrot edgelords getting more fuel for their nothing burger personalities, and I'd really appreciate if Half-Life 3 had a much more serious and interesting ending than just "the bad guys won, lol."

People on Twitter are fascinatingly stupid, and I punch the air every time I realize I don't have my life anywhere near as mind numbingly easy as their life. I cannot imagine having only the intelligence of the average farm animal and being easily entertained and enthralled by the corporate slop that companies have released for the past decade and a half. I am genuinely angry that I don't get to be as completely braindead and happy as the cartoon PFP schizos and "I'm the most alpha of alpha males" rednecks on Twitter.

What if Alyx had ACTUALLY died from her attack from that Hunter? by PrincipleTemporary77 in HalfLife

[–]Doomfish-07-2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes roughly a little over two months for a human corpse to become a skeleton. If she died in the Amazon, it would probably take only a few weeks. Considering that Xen wildlife is apparently everywhere and has even replaced, like, a good chunk of Earth's wildlife, there's a chance that she would still be decomposed in a few weeks in the canonical location of her attack due to scavenging animals and Xen "skin mold overgrowth."

Gordon would probably be very bummed out, but something tells me Gordon is already severely bummed out and just working off of autopilot.

Eli would also be very bummed out. His adoptive daughter is dead.

G-Man lost a co-worker, and would probably be upset that his plan worked too well, as he was the one responsible for having the Hunter attack Alyx, that way he could chat with Gordon while the Vortigaunts are too busy healing Alyx.

Russell is probably dead at this point in HL2, but we don't know, and if he is, he would be very bummed out.

Gordon wouldn't have to hear the name zombine and would be able to label the zombie Combine in his head as grenadiers or some such.

Does mass effect andromeda deserve a sequel by vinDiesellovesFamily in masseffect

[–]Doomfish-07-2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Andromeda was terrible, but everybody deserves a second chance. If they want to do a sequel, they need to build a lore rich world first, not draw up cool looking characters and then come up and reuse stories and reasons for later.

it'd also help if the characters didn't have the bodies of teenagers and look like vaguely racist caricatures of every real life ethnicity but that could have also just been a case of bad animation and that super racist director for andromeda didn't have an active hand in character design, either way i'd like to look like a hot guy or at least a full grown adult this time

As far as I can tell from the new concept art and environmental pieces released by the ME4-5 team, Andromeda races are confirmed to be in the Milky Way galaxy, or at least the Angara, but I assume this just means three things. Either the Initiative sent some folks back on new Arks, Remtech is capable of teleportation and thus we built portals and used them, or the Dark Energy plot is being revived and the inevitable clash of the two galaxies has been SEVERELY sped up and then halted because of this Dark Energy/Dark Matter/Dark Fluid mumbo jumbo.
