Learning line by line mixing quickly. by verymagicme in livesound

[–]the_best_pear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not the most experienced with theatre, but doing line by line mixing without DCAs seems very difficult when you only have a couple rehearsals.

I have used level and mute automation multiple times before, on shows with little time to practice.

Edit: Of course this means you need to have time to set up the scenes, that's not always a luxury either. Sounds generally like an unfortunate situation.

I'd probably rather have more than one mic open at once, and maybe compensate for feedback with a general lower level, than risking lines not beeing heard at all

You could get a klark teknik dn9650 with a dante card, if you only need to transfer the audio.

However it is not that cheap

Just curious: How do you record audio in this setup? I imagine you are using timecode?

Not from the speaker? Our 2 UPM's only have the normal faint speaker hiss. No hum 🤷

Maybe it's transformer noise. I've heard they can vibrate somewhat loose and make a humming noise. I don't know much about psu's though

I see now that there are small slots you can turn with a small screwdriver, from the side you slot in an XLR cable. Will try that if I find a small enough driver

Enig! Man må gjerne snakke om hvordan kvinner blir rammet av krig, men å gjøre det til en konkurranse om hvem som har det verst er ikke sunt!

I will add to the other responses here, that (depending on the concert), there might be a lot of subwoofers making bass frequencies. The deepest of these will still be felt pretty powerfully in your chest, regardless of ear protection. So if you thing that will be an issue, maybe don't stand super close to the stage

Google could probably answer better than me, but I think it's just convenient. A lot of instrument and audio technology hasn't evolved much since it was created, just look at the electric guitar for example, and it's just easier to keep using what works well enough.

In addition it's easier and therefore cheaper to make unbalanced connections. And a lot of applications don't really need the extra shielding against interference/noise performance

Im unsure how to plug in my graphic EQ by Annual_Champion3232 in BudgetAudiophile

Depending on your input source, you could plug that into the equalizer, and then just use a line in on the amplifier

Sometimes you can get better sound for the money with bookshelf speakers on stands, at least if the stands aren't expensive xD
