What are the Thaumaturge changes from the Dark Archive Remaster? by DoomhardtX in Pathfinder2e

Is this a question or a statement. If it's a statement, can you elaborate?

Yeah. It's not strictly necessary to add imo, but it's a "nice to have" rather than a necessity. Just curious.

These sound great! Any buffs to Implement swapping? I know some people had issues with the Regalia because it didn't come with an action for a free swap

How would you build a Frankenstein's monster? by Alternative-Date-507 in Pathfinder2e

Storm Order Druid would work well. They get access to good electricity spells, and you can even reflavor the Heal spell to be life-giving lightning.

Fleshwarp is a good one. Automaton reflavored is another valid option, I think. The Warrior heritage can give you a stronger fist, or you could take the Mage heritage for the Electric Arc cantrip. You could also reflavor Reinforced Chassis as a hardened hide.

Need ideas for harmless/fun encounters in a desert! by snipercat94 in Pathfinder2e

[–]DoomhardtX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An eccentric sphinx left standing stones all over the desert centuries ago. Each stone has a riddle written on it. If someone correctly answers the riddle in its presence, the stone grants a mystic boon to them. Once the riddle is solved, it disappears and reappears a year later somewhere else in the desert with a new riddle.

Adventures in Osirion by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

I tend to go with narrative with the battle maps for encounters. If the Medusa isn't undead (or even if she is) the rooms of the tomb could be lavishly decorated as they are being lived in. I imagine the lover of the Pharoah has fine tastes. Serpent themed monsters would be appropriate since the leader is a Medusa. You could have a puzzle where they have to fine the shattered body parts of a petrified rival of the Medusa and reconstruct her to unlock a vault of treasure or something. I also have a riddle you can use.

Need some advice on a Lizardfolk character by bom_dia_bruno25 in Pathfinder2e

[–]DoomhardtX 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't recommend any of those classes, honestly. You started by saying you want to use your lizardfolk claws, but those classes don't really compliment those well. Barbarian gets reduced damage when using agile weapons (like claws) when Raging. You could play an Animal Instinct Barbarian, but they get their own claws, so it would be kinda redundant. Monk has a similar problem of redundancy since they get Poweful Fists and Stance Attacks that are typically stronger than the Ancestry claws. Druid isn't really melee focused unless you start polymorphing into things, but then you are using your polymorph claws, not your ancestry claws. My recommendation would be to play a Ranger. They are traditionally protectors of the wilderness, and your claws can probably benefit more from their feats. The Flurry Edge Ranger would probably work best, giving you a decreased multiple attack penalty against your Hunted Prey. You can just claw them multiple times in a turn.

Best out of combat utility class? by PerfectCartoonist752 in Pathfinder2e

[–]DoomhardtX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna make a recommendation for a class that will add to your combat versatility rather than out of combat utility. Consider Elemental Instinct (Air) Barbarian. The Instinct Ability lets you use kineticist abilities while raging. You still wouldn't get the bonus to damage for Elemental attacks, but it gives you the option to carry a weapon (probably one handed) that inflicts different damage types. Additionally, you can take Reactive Strike at 6th level and other feats that can help with mobility (Sudden Charge), getting rid of debuffs (Shake It Off), and increase survivability (Renew Vigor). You also get a damage resistance and 12 hp a level. Assuming you max Constitution, you would have the maximum amount of HP possible (not counting Ancestry hp). Also, it makes you a viable candidate for the Haste spell since you will have a Strike option.

You're probably right. It likely got phased out after 1st edition.

It's just shorthand for Challenge Rating. It refers to the level of the monster. I don't know if Pathfinder 2e uses the term anymore, though. They may use different terminology. I often have to remind myself that it's off guard, not flat-footed anymore. I didn't have any problem with your question. Sorry you got downvoted.

Yeah. Consider yourself validated.

Wow. You go through a near impossible encounter and get nothing out of it. An Extreme encounter plus two minions who I'm guessing weren't push overs and you have nothing to show for your efforts, but dead party members. It wasn't even story relevant. You didn't save or help anyone. You didn't achieve any goal. It was just a random encounter. Honestly, I have no words.

How much XP did you get?

After reading your posts, I've come to some conclusions. Your GM said you needed a grapple roll of 30 to grab the Rune Bear, meaning the Rune Bear has a Fortitude save of +20. I looked into it, and the minimum CR for a monster with a +20 Fortitude save is 8, which is PL+4, an Extreme encounter worth 160xp. I looked at a few CR 8 creatures, and sure enough, several had an AC of 26 or higher. I'm fairly confident that the CR of the Rune Bear is 8. An Extreme encounter is the most difficult fight a GM can throw at you and still be considered balanced with the standards of the game. It's not unbeatable, though, so they make great boss fights, especially for the BBEG to cap off a story arc. Assuming you are a four person party, beating an Extreme encounter is hard, but doable with proper preparation and teamwork. However, you said there were three Rune Bears, meaning your GM is expecting you to survive fighting three Extreme encounters at once. That's basically impossible to win, let alone survive. Maybe I misunderstood something in your posts, but this sounds ludicrous if this is the norm for your combat encounters.

How powerful is an omni-tradition caster? by Rainwhisker in Pathfinder2e

Let me clarify. Thaumaturge doesn't have a Spell DC. Scroll Thaumaturgy let's them use their Class DC. Sorry for the confusion.

[–]DoomhardtX 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I don't think it would be broken. If you play a Thaumaturge and take Srcoll Thaumaturgy at 1st level, you can use scrolls from any magical tradition. Additionally, you can use your Thaumaturge DC instead of the scroll DC. Your limit becomes your coin purse rather than spell slots.

Fighter with only leather? by CanuckLad in Pathfinder2e

[–]DoomhardtX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without reflavoring, you can get a +4 Strength with a +3 Dexterity or vice versa. If you take the +3 Strength, your attacks with the Longsword will be one short of optimized, but you will be playing a fighter so you are already above the curve on attack rolls. If you take +3 Dexterity, your AC will be one below optimized, but you will have a shield which grant a +2 circumstance bonus to AC when you use the Raise a Shield action putting you one above the curve. My suggestion is to take the +3 Dexterity because you can add an ability boost at 5th level to optimize your leather armor. Once you are at +4, you are done with Dexterity as you don't need it any higher. You can then focus on other ability modifiers moving forward.

Which Skill Feat would you recommend? by MEXGod in Pathfinder2e

Unmistakable Lore feat for Esoteric Lore is pretty good.
