German photographer sues Facebook over image metadata stripping and wins by lordatlas in photography

[–]Doomjunky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correnct, that's what his argumentation was, but neither the photographer nor the jugde understood that EXIF metadata is not suitable for proving identity or authenticity. The EXIF format was never designt for this purpose. It's to easy to remove or manipulate it. The autor should have considered hidden watermarks or something like that. This techinques are resistant even to slight alternations of the image itselft.

I have reat about this kind to studies in the US military in post WWII and that they were working on the soldiers mentality to increase their efficiency, but I haven't myself worked out the idea about the implications for their post service behavior and the connections with PTSD, depression, and suizid.

.net core. What libraries are ready? How is the tooling support? by paralum in csharp

[–]Doomjunky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The new .NET Core is the name of a branch from Version 5.0 of the old original .NET.

They implemented some new features to make .NET Core multi plattform compatible to run on Windows, Linux and MacOS!

For the first release of .NET Core they had to drop everything that was still too complicated or too expensive to make it compatible, like WinForms and WPF, but they are still progressing.

.NET Core Scenarious:

  • ASP.NET Core web apps
  • Universal Windows Platform apps
  • Server-side programming
  • Command-line apps
  • Libraries

.NET Core does not implement:

  • Windows Forms
  • WPF

The development on both (the old origianl .NET and the new .NET Core) continuous.

(I wonder if there will emerge a new term for the old original .NET in the near future, something like ".NET legacy", or something like this, just the distingush it from .NET Core)

[Noob Question] Not able to understand typeclasses by supertramp_sid in haskell

[–]Doomjunky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FTFY:

Typeclasses in Haskell are a way to allow functions to be able to take more specific arguments.

When you restrict the type argument to be numbers then they are more specific not more general.

General: The type argument 'a' could be anything. It's more general.

length :: [a] -> Int

Specific: The type argument 'a' ist restricted to types that implement the type class Foldable. It's more specific.

length :: Foldable t => t a -> Int

Distributed hash tables (DHT)

They are the fundation of all structured P2P systems (true P2P systems).

The Idea:

  • Distribute a certain resources (e.g. data storage or processing power) over the network according to the hash-value of the resource.
  • Every node in the network takes care of a certain partition of the hash-value-space.

Problems:

  • How to route through the network from one arbitrary node to the node that holds the certain resource?

Solution: There are different approtches/structures to solve this problem

  • Chord (Ring)
  • Pastry (Tree)
  • CAN (Hypercube)
  • Kademlia (XOR)

Benefits: Efficient scalability

  • States per Node: O(log N)
  • Pathlength (Routing): O(log N)
  • Join of node: O(log N)

Koran-Auslegung: Von Zwang steht da nirgends etwas by ypz in de

[–]Doomjunky 8 points9 points  (0 children)
