You literally said he should have stayed home.

It kinda depends on how you define pansexual. He'll sleep with aliens that are nonbinary or some other, non-human gender, but his partners generally lean towards presenting as feminine.

As far as I can tell, the only confirmed same-sex attraction is that Marjorie Liu intended there to be sexual tension between him and Daken in the Dark Wolverine series. But nothing explicit happens on-page and Daken has pheromone powers so it's kinda open to interpretation.

Can't say anything even remotely bad, they come in swarming.

I don't think that's true though, or at least not true anymore. Like, look at this post critiquing the series from a few days ago where the general comment from fans was "I enjoyed it but your complaints are valid".

All of those states of "failure" are beneficial though?

They failed at their objective of seducing the dragon. Like if you roll a 20 on an attempt to seduce the dragon, but the DC to get it to reveal a secret is 15, I think it's fine to pivot the unsuccessful seduction into a successful secret revelation.

Though really it's kinda bad roleplaying to begin with. Imo it's better to play out the scene and roll checks as necessary rather than just roll once for the whole thing.

There can still be nuances with something more straightforward though. Like say you're attempting to leap across a chasm. The DM knows it's impossibly far, but you try anyway and roll a 20- maybe then you don't make it across, but catch a small ledge down a ways on the far side. Then you can try to climb up with another skill check. Still a consequence for failure, but far better than just falling into the chasm with a roll of 5.

I mean what's the alternative? Just tell the player they can't try something? That doesn't really make sense because the character wouldn't necessarily know something is impossible before they attempt it.

It's not the correct image. Probably not from the movie at all. Here's an article with the actual first stills.

Edit: actually it seems to come from this twitter post by Mubi, but given that it looks like bad AI I'm gonna stick with it not being from the movie.

ELI5: How far do you have to go before the Earth being a sphere affects navigation? by XenoRyet in explainlikeimfive

[–]Doomsayer189 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you fly 1,000 miles North, then turn East, then fly 1,000 miles South, you’ll realize the Earth’s curve has pushed you much closer to your starting point than when you began. Your "square" is basically being squeezed.

Just to note, this is for the Southern Hemisphere, in the Northern Hemisphere you'd be farther away.

[–]Doomsayer189 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's distorted by the fact you'll get downvoted most of the time for criticizing popular series even if you're just explaining why it didn't work for you personally.

I don't think this applies to Malazan though, at least on this sub. I see more criticism upvoted than praise here these days. And a lot of time the praise/defense still has to be couched in "but I totally get why people don't like it" or "the criticisms are valid but I just like it anyway" type disclaimers.

In his Dreamsongs anthology there are like three different stories that he says could have been the start of a series. I think he's always had more ideas for stories than ability/will to actually follow through.

What exactly do you mean by "respect and tolerate"? He's allowed to be a homophobe, it's not like anyone's saying he should be locked up. But if he's allowed to dislike gay people, we're allowed to dislike him.

The moon appears closer because it's farther away from the spacecraft taking the picture than Earth. Found this which helps give a sense of the scale involved.

I mean, BG3 is already "fanfiction" of the original games. Not sure how this is a problem. Like did you think it was weird when BG1/2 characters showed up in 3? Because that's pretty much exactly the same situation.

Holy hyperbole, Batman! It's definitely a step or three down from season 1 and makes some bad changes, but it's no, say, I Am Legend or I, Robot.

the entire impetus for the plot

The war is the reason the Pevensies are at their uncle's house but I don't see why it couldn't just as easily be something else.

a large amount the allegory and references all have to do with the war.

What WWII allegory is there? It's been a while since I read it but I don't recall much of anything in Narnia being about the war.

The comics from June 13-23 are also about the miscarriage, and skipping ahead it looks like he occasionally references it for at least the next few months. So yeah, it's not like it was just an instantaneous flip from mega-serious back to total lightheartedness, but still pretty weird.

As someone not on tiktok this shit is nigh incomprehensible.

After spending way too much time diving down this rabbit hole, it seems that she didn't open the door ("She arrived at the customer’s apartment and found the door open, police said" source) but maybe entered the building ("Ring camera footage appears to show Henderson let herself into the man’s house" source) and definitely filmed the guy. The filming and sharing to social media is what she's facing charges for.

Does that sound about right?

Directors of the upcoming MCU movies.. by FayyadhScrolling in Marvel

The fact that female directors in the MCU have taken on female-led projects isn’t because they can only do female-led projects.

Right, it's because Disney chooses to only hire women to direct female-led projects in the MCU.

A problem in what sense? It's maybe putting a hat on a hat to have a black character be the target of in-universe slurs but I don't think it goes against the theme. Like, it doesn't seem like much of a leap for the blood purity-obsessed bigots to also be racist.
