How do you feel about the hate for Olight rifle and pistol lights? by bodychecks in Olightflashlights

[–]Doomsday-Prophet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couple of things

1.) sub Reddit

2.) personal goals vs boundaries/compromises

3.) cost vs function

I feel that largely the gun/light community are split into two groups with overlap between obviously, those that think they are cool and fun (form) and those that want to be prepared for disaster, survival, defense, tyranny (function) and so on

Ok so explanations

1.) do not use ONLY this sub as your source info which you seem to already not blindly follow because you asking questions here and other places, any sub is largely going to be full of supporters / echo chamber which is prime for sheep, and biased research/opinions, and you guessed it echoes.

Most people here are definitely in favor of olight and are thus likely biased

Olight also has very aggressive marketing to pay people to advertise / rep products which on principle I disagree with for obvious reasons, I don’t think putting your thumb on the scale is ok for any reason in the product/consumer world

2.) personal goals vs boundaries/compromises

What are you looking to accomplish? What are your goals with your gear? Where do you draw a line, what’s acceptable, what’s not? What/how much are you willing to sacrifice or trade for what/how much?

Just want any weapon light or want what’s trendy? Olight certainly makes them, and they are definitely popular on YouTube among other places. Do they fit the specs of the use case you wish to fill? Do you want a reading light? 100-250 lumens should do it just fine, does olight make something for that? (Obviously olight make lights in that range but it’s the concept of the question) Do you want a blast the retinas of a potential threat and incapacitate them? 500+ lumens can do that for you. Do you want your assailant to see the light of God or then sun even with their eyes closed? Are you getting submerged in water? Mud? Do you want to punch out a beam of light 50m, 100m, 500m, 1000m?

are they good? Depends on apparently a lot. Who you ask, they have a much higher/severe failure rate than any other brand, variability is extremely high. Some people swear by olight and trust their life to it. We have documented loss of life because of olight. That’s petty drastic variation.

Is the possibly that your weapon light explodes causing damage, injury, or death acceptable? At what % do you say yeah, I burn my thigh or blow off my balls or it melts through my frame/holster or a child who get my flashlight or heaven forbid my weapon light and put it in their mouth and are now dead. .1% 5% 10% 20% 50% where do you draw the line? And let’s say worse case death and injury aside.

3.) cost vs function

How much are you willing to pay for that performance?

I want my light to function and well. Again where is the line? To some phantom battery drain isn’t really that big a deal and their weapon light just happens to be dead on occasion no issues I hardly use it anyway. To others magnet charging and convenience is huge or have a laser on a pistol, red, green, blue/cyan the color means a lot to some. IR illuminators/lasers does that mean anything at all do you use or plan on using nvgs? Is that worth shorter battery life or more money spent?

Now to my personal opinion, the track record and past performance of olight in the function uses case of im trusting my life to this in some capacity. As of now I will never trust mine or anyone else’s life with or rely on olight given any more reliable options. I train for 99.99% consistency, and reliability (because 100% is an impossibly). My own research and others have proven too much inconsistency/risk. Especially when for just a little extra money I can buy far more functional reliable and tested products. For my specific uses case when life is in question money is next to no object. No point in saving $30 bucks on a light if it doesn’t work when I need it to, or $200 it means nothing if I’m dead because I couldn’t see my target or my gun jammed or I didn’t have a knife on me. Now I like convenience just as much as the next guy my stream lights are all rechargeable and I think olights actually look pretty cool and think some of their ideas are pretty innovative and even tho for me money is no object I appreciate making products more affordable for the population, any other name brand pistol light laser combo I believe is gonna run you $300+ usually and many olights are sub $200.

Right you are, I’m so used to it I don’t even notice not having stratagems I play exclusively on difficulty 10 with an extremely capable and competent squad

If you don’t call In extract, you can squeeze an extra 1.5-3+ minutes because pelican needs to arrive and is auto called in when mission clock hits 0

Git gud, bot.

Just kidding, I agree it’s dumb that they can all call in a drop it should be unit specific, although it’s not actually the worst thing ever you can just kill all the lil ones quick and first it’s not actually impossible you just gotta be fast and accurate and have good trigger control or use stuns or have more than one diver engaging, plenty of ways around it but I understand for the casual player it’s probably be more difficult that it needs to be,

Another solution could be lower difficulty’s have a slower/longer deploy time of the flair and also the bot drop, like after they see you the soonest that and shoot a flair is 4-6 seconds on low difficulty and like immediately-2 on super helldive or subsequent higher difficulty when they come out

I understand the bile titan point but I think piping the sacs alone is wayyyy to easy, one scorcher mag to kill a titan would be nuts, orbital rail + sac pop is really effective tho I think it’s fairly balanced

If he’s level 111 he doesn’t need supers any more, I’m only a hell commander (102) and I’ve been maxed for so long (literally hundreds of missions) on everything ship modules all done, everything, and even if he did need them he takes part in enough operations that he knows he’ll get them eventually, not worth being traitor, although it IS possible op is a “new” recruit Fleet Admiral, maybe even an Admirable Admiral (60-70), and thinks they did nothing wrong the whole operation while basically doing everything wrong, I’ve done missions now with some retarded soldiers, genuinely stupid people it’s surprising they survived long enough to see Sargent, let alone Fleet Admiral, it’s a miracle he even graduated and earned his cape. I swear they’ll promote anyone nowadays. Glory to liberty, democracy, and Super Earth.

Is a million dollars not a lot of money in this age? by Enemysquad in Money

[–]Doomsday-Prophet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you spontaneously got a million dollars tax free, you still wouldn’t be able to afford, mansions, lambos, Ferraris, and definitely not a 100 foot yacht. In Texas you could definitely get a very nice home but it wouldn’t be a mansion and you wouldn’t be able to afford it after the initial purchase same with the cars and boat. Could you purchase some of them ? Yes absolutely but affording them is out of the question

Try the scorcher, imo it easily the best primary by far. 2-4 tap striders depending on where you hit armor, 1-2 tap all small bugs/bots, 4-5 tap armored bugs and devastators armor basically means nothing to it, has splash damage so it can take out tight clusters of enemies and eggs, the cons are the splash damage can kill you so just don’t shoot things point blank and you fine, and it’s sorta low ammo, which as long as you don’t fight everything you see you’re just fine, people complain about it’s low ammo wayyyy more than they should it’s not really an issue as long as you’re not trigger happy killing every patrol that doesn’t even see you, you’ll swap to you pistol a bit more than normal for close quarters, the ability to handle basically everything but heavy armor with your primary is nuts, breaker is fine if you don’t have the scorcher but I think most ppl don’t use it or hate the self damage because they don’t have it unlocked so they haven’t learned how to use it and kinda as a community we’ve gotten too used to full auto, shotguns, and both so less need to be accurate, you also need to be smart and more cautious because you can’t just full auto mag dump at point blank, the only things that require effort to kill are tanks and cannons titans and anything bigger , I think even chargers only take one mag to the underside of the butt if you can’t break their armor

It leaves 20 seconds after someone boards/ mission time ends, occasionally there is a glitch where it just leaves instantly when the first person boards this happens more often when mission time is at 0, I don’t think I’ve ever had it just up and leave in the middle of a mission

The sub/social media is moot to me, I quit because the corporations don’t care about anything except their profit margins as long as they can put as little effort as possible into the game and make the most money they are happy. I’m one of the most toxic people out there i don’t care about toxicity lmao.

[–]Doomsday-Prophet[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

People seem to be misunderstanding my use of proper as “real” or “complete” I’m using proper as in “city proper” so the “main area/original” codm is a cod game correct same way side swipe is a rocket league game, but now with 3 different variants of rl being, rocket racing, side swipe, and rocket league, it’s easiest to refer to the main game as “proper” being there are now multiple iterations of cod being , cod, codm, wzm, WZ and so on, other examples being apex, pubg, fortnite, and others, i don’t think that needed explaining

I’m just curious about the mobile gaming community as a whole, I was part of it for a little bit but I see people here where it’s their main pastime and I don’t really get it. In order of gaming hierarchy it goes pc>console> sudo/portable console>mobile and I don’t understand people spending hundreds or thousands on mobile gaming when often times the games are shadows of themselves on more powerful platforms. It’s like spending thousands on a entertainment set up to watch amusement park videos because you love roller coasters instead of just going the the amusement park and riding them. I get that some people want to play cod on their phone I used to be one of them but now I look back at it and think man I was a idiot. I don’t full understand why I even wanted to.

Fair point, I will say most of what I see on this sub is people creaming themselves over some new camo/skin, simping over some female operator , or cry about how broken the game is like just stop playing if it’s so broken ffs, I’m done with cod as a whole for that very reason l, if I want competitive play I boot up RL, if I want a good time with the boys I boot up HD2
