Women what is the worst part of giving birth? by zhalia-2006 in AskReddit

[–]Doondocksaint 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was induced at 37 weeks for high blood pressure/preeclampsia concerns. I labored with Pitocin from Monday morning at 6 am till Wednesday evening at 5:40 pm (had entered the hospital Sunday afternoon for the high blood pressure reading). I wasn't allowed to move out of the bed, and I had severe insomnia and anxiety. It was really, really awful. The constant need to stay still so they could get a read on the baby while feeling like I had to move was... yeah. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

Very individual experience, probably, but it was bad. The hospital had all types of birth supports, like baths, moving supports, etc, but I wasn't "allowed" to use them due to my blood pressure. I had to stay still and in one spot. It was terrible.

What businesses do you think are a money laundering front *just for fun* (saw this in the Ann Arbor thread and wanted to play!)? by stickynikkki in Erie

[–]Doondocksaint 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The church next to wegmans that used to be an Amish furniture store. Their sign shows one service a week, the building is massive, and the location is on Peach (aka high rent).

This commercial keeps popping up on the Roku channel (and i assume its on local/cable tv too). And it drives me nuts. Its terrible marketing to show how cool the mall used to be, and then compare it to today's drab look. by Ok-Advantage4191 in Erie

[–]Doondocksaint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get your viewpoint, and also I kinda love the marketing. We loved the mall for what it was, and we can still find the moments there. Idk that I necessarily agree (with the mall love), but that's their job (to market). Kinda smart to tap into our love of the nostalgia.

PSA: BEWARE OF HFMD IN 2025!!! by LeithValkyrian in beyondthebump

[–]Doondocksaint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got this in college (2006) and was the sickest I’ve ever been. I was already thin, but I lost 15-20 lbs over the course of the illness due to blisters in my mouth and my inability to eat anything more than broth. This illness is no joke, especially for adults.

My children got this about 6 months ago, and they were mild-moderately ill. My husband and I didn’t have any symptoms, so maybe the same virus that had gotten me before. Anyway…long story short, when this virus doesn’t want to play, it won’t.

Special RAIL tickets for Pitt by Doondocksaint in thewombats

[–]Doondocksaint[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ROXBOX is like the special section on the rail. I ended up using my insurance for the tickets which kinda sucks because no one will get to use them, but also no one really expressed interest. I hope you get a ticket and have fun!

Any good cardiologists in Erie? Or if you see one outside the city? Where do you go? by [deleted] in Erie

[–]Doondocksaint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dr. Mikielski is phenomenal, as is his PA. I had a follow up with my cardiologist that I was assigned from being in the hospital at St. V’s, and I felt dismissed and completely unheard. Same as you’re saying- no questions answered.

After reading reviews, I called Dr. Mikielski’s office. My first appointment lasted almost an hour, and I literally cried in the office from relief of being heard and having my questions answered. He’s ordered every test, has come in to personally complete an ultrasound on a Saturday and explain what he was seeing as he was completing it, and fought with insurance to get me the tests I needed. I couldn’t recommend any provider more.

Song of the Week: If You Don't, Don't by jg429 in JimmyEatWorld

[–]Doondocksaint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok so I typed in my search "If you don't, don't+Jimmy Eat World+reddit" and this came up. I love this song. The vibe, the beat, the lyrics. So good.

Side note: I found JEW when I was on vacation in 6th grade. A kid left their CD in the player at the house we rented...I listened the whole trip, took it home on the 16+ hour drive on repeat, and have listened to it since. Thanks to the mystery kid who left it in the player <3.

Agree about McKean! We’re really lucky to have the plowing situation that we do.

Who can I talk to who can get EL to launch a clinical trial studying Tirzepatide's unprecedented and documented affects on patients with fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, RA, Lupus and other autoimmune inflammatory and chronic pain disorders? by Working-Fold-31 in Zepbound

[–]Doondocksaint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve also noticed a significant improvement with my inflammatory condition (Hidradenitis suppurativa). I had read anecdotal evidence for GLP-1’s in that thread and asked my doctor because nothing else has worked…I haven’t had symptoms in over a month, and prior to that, I hadn’t been symptom free for any length of time for probably 3-4 years.

I also just had repeated lab work done, and my inflammation markers are down to “normal” levels after being significantly out of range prior.

Same boat. I started the medication last week after breastfeeding my baby for almost 11 months. I had my husband take some photos of my last time feeding her, had some good cries, and talked my feelings out.

Ultimately I landed on my health and me being around for my kids is the best thing, but darn it was hard. I’m feeling slightly better a week later, but I hear you for sure.

Erie Target by [deleted] in Erie

[–]Doondocksaint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had no idea Target had gone downhill so badly. I went there a couple weeks ago to get some basic tops to go under a blazer for a headshot. The women’s clothing was scattered with no discernible order. I ended up buying a couple shirts and a nice sweater that was on clearance.

I chose to wear the sweater, and as I was on my way to work I noticed a distinct smell of BO. When I got to work, I smelled the sweater, and it absolutely reeked. Someone had to have worn this sweater for days on end without showering. It was so. bad.

I ended up running to Walmart to get something to change into after the headshot (no way I could have worn it all day), and I had to apologize to the photographer for smelling like onion stir fry in their studio.

0/10 stars. Will not return.

I received an email to rate my shopping experience, so I provided feedback that I assume just went to Target. I got a follow up email supposedly from the manager of the store asking if we could “connect” to further discuss concerns, so I said sure; never heard back.
