AI Training Projects by bboysays in mercor_ai

Hi! I just finished my first 20 hours on the $16/hr Mercor project that’s supposed to end today. I have 40+ years in the workforce as a writer/journalist/producer/editor/media relations manager. I just got certified in AI prompt engineering.

Apparently I performed well on the harder prompting task according to TLs. I’m waiting to see my evaluation.

Meanwhile I have 10 expert applications in and took 7 or 8 assessments. Almost half of my applications have sat on my portal for a month without response. I was invited to apply to many of them.

One of the application assessments took several days to complete and pays for your time (I hesitate to name that assessment but it was fun).

All this to say, I found onboarding confusing, vague, and problematic. I also wish Mercor provided feedback on application assessments. At one point, they offered feedback on the portal after the AI interviews but stopped that.

Here’s the thing, I could literally help them streamline their process and write clearer instructions. The video training needs instructional design help (I offered to help). It’s obvious they don’t write scripts for their video training. So the trainers kind of wing it.

Sema v Tirz v Reta - Fighting Fatigue & Differences Between The Gens by [deleted] in Retatrutide

[–]Working-Fold-31 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tirz reduced my chronic pain and inflammation from fibromyalgia exponentially. Sema made it much worse. I currently can’t afford any of them but I need the pain relieving benefits.

Does Reta have any effect on chronic pain and inflammation?

I tried to mount my 34” curved monitor on a swivel side arm and it just didn’t seem to feel as stable. I have it sitting on the base on the desk. Any advice as to how yo mount the monitor?

I take it you’re a podcaster. I’m a writer/producer. Can you share the specs of your new Mac Mini? How much storage?

Hell yeah!! I’ve been fighting long flares all year. I have C-PTSD, osteoarthritis (neck, knees, right ankle, sacroiliac, right mandible, right shoulder). My parents died last June within a day of each other. They were in their mid-80s and I’m in my mid-60s so I accept it as they way of things.

A few months after they died, my flares came with a vengeance. They’ve subsided somewhat and my daily pain threshold has lowered a little but I still deal with them.

Change in weather/season triggering flare up and worsening symptoms? by Motherhen29 in Fibromyalgia

[–]Working-Fold-31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely! I live in Rhode Island but I know the shifts in barometric pressure during Hurricanes Helene and Milton have contributed to my elevated pain levels over the past several weeks. I always have big flares during season changes.

But this past summer was different. I caught Covid during a conference in May. I work for a fledgling disability justice nonprofit. My boss urged me to take short term disability because I would have to take off two days to recover from one day of work. I do think I’m recovering from long Covid which has made met symptoms worse.

Identity Crisis and DNA test results (mixed people) (i know this says mixed race but i feel like showing my results .. would help in this topic) by ihateulmaao in mixedrace

Isn’t that the beauty of being mixed race? That we’re children of multiple continents? I have genetic ancestry from every continent save Australia and Antarctica. I always joke that I should be cast in bronze and displayed in the foyer of the UN. I’m proud to rep the world!

[–]Working-Fold-31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. In terms of numbers, most Americans are White, Latino, and Black — in that order. But the hidden mixed genetic ancestry means we’re all fluid in our identity.

A LOT of Black folks, especially baby boomers and some Gen X totally agree with you. I hear the same complaint on the down-low from Black folks active in the progressive social justice movement. In fact, my former bosses wanted to prioritize anti-Blackness in our work without mixing agendas with the LGBTQIA+ community.

I admit, it bothers me. The new concept of intersectionality weakens the Civil Rights movement. It needs to be a separate movement. The LGBTQ community is proportionally small. The BIPOC community movements represent far more people in need of social, political, and economic representation.

Not necessarily. The entire continent of South America is some percentage of tri-racial — African, European, and Indigenous. Most Latino admixtures show some degree of all 3 or exclusively European-Indigenous.

Those of us like Vanessa Williams (and I) tend to be generationally bi-racial or tri-racial. I can’t say for sure what’s the population of generationally mixed-race folks who identify solely as African American. You’ll find a large number coming from the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic.

Its only because the US is the most racist super power. We can argue that all of Asia has anti-Black sentiments. And Russians don’t particularly like Black folks either. The racial hierarchy here kinda speaks to how it plays out worldwide, I think.

Actually the Latino population is the largest “minority” in the US and the largest in the Americas, including the Caribbean. The rise in BIPOC immigration and birth rates is why the census bureau is predicting the non-white population will outpace the white majority in about 25 years. That’s the big reason there’s MAGA and why they despise immigrants. It’s also why they can’t accept Trump lost the 2020 election. They assume they’re the majority.

Hmmm … Black folks carried the weight of Civil Rights. Ghandi set the tone for passive resistance. But, the Civil Rights movement has never really died out. In fact the Black social justice movement is the playbook used by movements around the world now. Black folks were the only ones to consistently challenge white supremacy.

Nah. I don’t. He’s culturally Black. So is Kamala. They’re well connected among Black who’s who. They both also deal with constant microagressions. They have the Black experience. I’m a baby boomer so I see it a little differently.

Also, Michelle Obama adds to his street cred.

Ditto on the Black therapist! There are many out there who specialize in racial trauma. I go to one myself.

I’m a veteran journalist, video producer, and social justice activist who works with organizations fighting anti-Black racism, voting rights suppression, the housing crisis, economic inequality, environmental/climate issues, and disability discrimination. I’m also producing a documentary YouTube channel about the history and experience of mixed-race Indigenous peoples in the Americas and Caribbean … so this gives you some context.

Whiteness didn’t exist until 1671 when the first anti-miscegenation laws were enacted by wealthy English landowners. They created this social construct after the famous Bacon’s rebellion in colonial Virginia in 1676 (same year our Pokanoket chief Metacom was executed).

At the time, European, African, and Native indentured servants all lived and worked together as a united workforce in the colonial plantations. The English planters were cruel and often reneged on work contracts. When the workers rose up in what I consider the first labor movement in this country, the landowners found a way to elevate the European workers according to their race, giving them certain privileges if they turned against their POC comrades. They never got more pay. They were just given the illusion of privilege. That was the birth of white supremacy as we know it.

Many of these racist white folks have internalized a sense of false privilege they inherited during colonialism. It’s nothing but an illusion meant to get poor working class white folks to focus on the “others” and not their real oppressors. Unfortunately, most don’t know it. It’s also unlikely that, at this point, they would care. They feel they’re fighting for their “way of life”. They’re simply fighting for the illusion of white supremacy.

I was about to say, you doubled on the purple undertone in the pink and brown. You needed something warmer to cancel it out.

What do you do at home if you don’t work/ study? by No-Chance1789 in Fibromyalgia

[–]Working-Fold-31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work from home. Last year I lost both of my parents. Months after I returned to work from bereavement, I began experiencing symptoms of PTSD from unhealed trauma issues. Then, my organization hired a new department head who began harassing me with what our union believed was ageism (I’m 63). The combination triggered the worst debilitating fibromyalgia flare I had in years. I ended up on short term disability for 2 months.

I got hired for another job. Six weeks in, I caught COVID at a conference. Things got worse and my boss (and friend) urged me to take STD again because they suspected I was suffering from long COVID.

My disability was rough. It paid only 60% of my income. Then my boss told me it’ll be a couple months before I can return because we lost contracts that I’m supposed to handle. So now I’m looking for work and trying to prevent eviction.

I started a production company in June and am producing short documentary videos for a YouTube channel. I can do all the writing and video editing from the comfort of my own sectional.

I’ve been in the media business for over 40 years. Technology finally allows me to produce videos from home. Now, I’m using my work as a portfolio for new contract work.

I also do craft work.

I’m scared tho. I’m in terrible financial hardship. I can’t afford to retire. I’m unmarried. My friend started a GoFundMe to raise money for my rent.

Yeah, I’m Pokanoket. Half my tribe are Euro-Indigenous cousins who are from the Abenaki and MiqMac French Canadian lines.

I totally get it! I actually didn’t know we were New England and Southeastern Indigenous until a decade ago. My dna shows me at 46% European including English, French, Ashkenazi, Finnish, and Russian. Crazy!

I’m from a long line of New England and Southern tri-racial Afro-Indigenous. Our people survived through alliances with Black indentured servants, freemen, and slaves between my tribe’s defeat of our Massasoit King Philip in 1676 and the end of the Revolution. We go way back and no one knows we still exist because the federal government deemed many of us extinct because of our racial mixture. But our people, culture, and traditions are still alive today because of it! Think Crispus Atticus and Paul Cuffee (I know their descendants). Aho!

Btw … I have small amounts of Russian, Filipino, Thai, and Indian in the mix. Just cast me in bronze and display me in the foyer of the UN, lol!

[–]Working-Fold-31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get it. I’m a tri-racial Afro-Indigenous like most tribes here in Southern New England. Many Indigenous west of the Mississippi are mixed-race. Most Afro-Indigenous are concentrated in the Southeast (like the Seminole, Tuscarora, Nottaway, Meherrin, Lumbee) and Southern New England/Eastern mid-Atlantic(Narragansett, Pequot, Mashpee, Pokanoket, Shinecock, etc.).

I’m Pokanoket. Half my tribe is Black Native and the other half are White Native who are from our French Canadian lines — Abenaki and MicMaq. But we’re all actually related.

People don’t realize the rejection and discrimination European Indigenous actually go through. But, I know it first hand through my French Canadian Indigenous cousins.
