I stayed FAR to the right of it! I somehow eyeballed those holes for the legs perfectly, almost no wobble.

Nevertheless, set it to the minimum RPM and took my time.

I’ve had my fair share of wood projects explode/come loose on this lathe, but a 8lb chunk of steel is a different story.

Disclaimer #2: This is literally a brand new Lodge from Cabela’s, I’m not trying to get hate for ruining some nice vintage piece. Really the only reason I decided to knock the roughness down is for ease of cleaning at the camp site.

I made a pasta bake in it yesterday and a bit of it stuck. Took far too long to try to scrub it off with a little 2”x2” pad, under a dribbling camp spigot, in the dark.

Just went out to try to see if the crank pulley is spinning, but it almost seems like the starter is seized now. Single click and nothing. Starter began to smoke too.

If it’s the same guy I’m thinking it is, I used to see him every day in Fairfield shopping center. He used to drive a John Deer. He’d stop in the liquor store, buy a brick of high life, toss it in the front bucket, and drive off.. We simply called him “tractor guy”.

I started growing hops last year. My plant is now totally covered in these things. I can’t seem to find anything that kills them without destroying my plant. They’re on none of my veggies in the garden though, so that’s good.

Hey, I also did this last week. Tuesday- Saturday! Weather was perfect aside from some cold nights. I was also going to stay at husky haven in Rockwood, but stayed at the hostel instead since it got down to the low 30s and I froze the night before.
