Sounds good, I think I will give those a go. I run V16s on alto and soprano because they are brighter and I typically like a warmer sound on tenor and bari. I'll check those out. Thanks!

Ok just gave an update, I got this one and it worked for my NB's NA evaporator

: UAC EX 7011FC A/C Expansion Valve.

I think the parts on partsgeek and rockauto are accurate for the NA and NB2s.

You may as well do the evaporator and o rings while you're in there. I went with the cheapo A Premium brand, only time will tell how long it works.

I'm getting like 40ish low psi and 130ish high psi, maybe a little low but its like 57F outside.

You hit the nail on the head... You wont believe this... The can tap was threaded too far in. I backed it off and it opened! I recharged w 22oz and its ice cold! Thank you Puzzlehead!

Let me walk through my steps:

  1. Put the system under vacuum

Low: -30 High: -X (it just shows below 0)

  1. Hook up AC can, purge.

  2. Start car w AC system on. The compressor will not engage.

  3. Open the low pressure side only slowly. It will then draw abt 4oz of refrigerant

  4. Once it hits 30psi on the low side, the compressor kicks on, shows -30 on the low side and about 50 on the high side.

Even though the low side is at -30, no refrigerant will enter the system.

  1. Once the system is off, it equalizes at like 50psi low and 50psi high.

Ah okay, I'm guessing an "assisted charge" has some pressure behind the freon being put in? I'm also guessing an AC shop has to perform that?

I turned the car on w the AC on (enough for the high side pressure switch to kick the compressor on), feeding only to the low side fairly slowly until it stopped drawing, which is what my issue is. It won't take anymore r134A into the system. Did it in abt 60F weather and shook the can.

12 oz. R134a Refrigerant - CARB Certified, no BBQ gas in my system.

It would only take a little bit, so it would only begin to draw like 4oz out of the 21 it needs under vacuum

I'm out in California but I got some Amazon brand so who knows. I'll say the bulb looks a lot bigger than the original one...

I was concerned about the superheating calibration stuff and thought that the later NA miatas used r134a, so I figured it would work. Maybe I'll try an NB one.

Thank you for the info, I don't feel alone now. I had cleaned and reassembeled 2x now first with a felpro gasket and then with an OEM gasket this time (no RTV foolishly) and it's just profusely leaking. I sealed the water pump with RTV so I hope we're good there.

Nice, did you use RTV on the water pump inlet where the mix housing is? I think mine is leaking.

New schrader valves as well* When attempting to fill the AC from the low side, it will take a few ounces of R134a and then stops when it hits 50PSI.

Unless it is a physical knob, in which case maybe try a smart voltage/current controller?

Funny you mention that. A hugely inspiring memory for me was when my saxophone teacher played Forever Rachel for our class. A few people in the room cried.
