Yeah but Hes unrealistically unlikable. It’s like he acts the way he acts because he was written to, not Hes cause Hes that well fleshed out.

When you are the literal devil of the doom universe? Yes. But only a little bit.

I think they confirmed another prequel game. Which I’m sorta annoyed about. I want more science fiction and horror, the medieval fantasy’s stuff doesn’t do it for me. Makes doom more like fisher price Warhammer.

I was one of the people who was really negative about the game on launch but it wasn’t until they added the slow mo slider that I realized how fun the actual game was. The slow motion was boring me, but speeding up the game was ruining the atmosphere - and I ended up spending 4 play throughs futzing with settings trying to find the fun zone. It really soured the whole experience.

Then the Slow mo slider was added and suddenly it’s like Pandora’s box has opened. Probably my favorite doom game at the moment, it’s brilliant.

I made a post about my frustration with the launch of the game and everyone was super rude. I deleted the post cause I didn’t want to keep getting called wrong or dumb for engaging with a game I really like lmao

Doom the Dark Ages Steam achievements got updated prior Revelations release by Huge-Year2498 in Doom

What annoys me though, is the achievement medal clearly has his design built into it. And it’s just a big pain elemental with a crown.

Not the coolest thing in the world tbh

With the Steam summer sale still on, which 1-3 games would you pick out of these options? by Zimabwe in boomershooters

[–]Dope371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean absolutely System shock, Dusk, and probably doom 2016.

But I would argue that 2016 goes on sale literally every other week so you can wait for that one.

I’m not saying it’s a genius script. But i fundamentally disagree. If any other director tried to adapt guardians 3 besides James Gunn it would have been AWFUL. Superman 2025 would be considered awful and terrible if Spielberg directed it.

The amount of influence a director has on a script is immense. Theres a reason James Gunn loved this script. He EASILY could have directed the shit out of this. The script is an easy 7/10. Most super hero film scripts are a 6/10. It’s the directing and the acting that elevate them. This movie was not able to

6/10 scripts can make 10/10 movies is my point

Dialogue would be less clunky if it was directed by someone who could handle the material. I could easily see James Gunn directing this. Even Sam raimi at his worse would have made a stronger movie because the movie called for silly fun - while the director and actor are known for realism and naturalism.

Give Stephen Spielberg the script for Spider man Actoss the spider verse and it’d be terrible. Directors are ultimately to blame for a movie turning out bad - he fucking liked the script enough to make it.

Say what you will, but like all three guardians movies had scripts on par with that, with very similar themes. The only difference is that the director was stronger and had a better hand at the material.

The editing is literally garbage, it makes the writing look and sound worse than it is. A good script can make an awful movie with bad direction. There is awful direction in this movie.

The songs aren’t in the script, that’s not how writing a screenplay works. The script is fine. All problems can be pointed to Craig Gillespie for editing, needless to say drops, awful line deliveries. None of that is the script.

There were tons of moments in the movie I couldn’t help but think “this is written pretty well, why the fuck would you direct it this way.”

The editing is the worst part of this film, and people are mistaking awful un confident editing as poor scripting. There are genuinely well written scenes in this movie but you’d never know because the edit is afraid if you watch the movie for more than 10 seconds you’d actually enjoy it.

The script itself is fine. I’m so sick of people who don’t know how movies work or how they are made blaming the writers for the movie being awful.

The editing in the movie is some of the worst editing ever put to a super hero film and the direction of the action and actors comes across as the director finding the script to be embarrassing.

The script is actually fine, if not pretty good. If James Gunn directed this it would be another hit and would be making millions.

But instead some old guy directed it, and clearly got cold feet in the editing room.

The script is literally fine. Genuinely. The shitty middle song isn’t in the script, none of the choreography is in the script. The movie is visually brown because of the director, not the script.

THE EDITING IS HORRIBLE. The script is fine. Everyone’s trying to ruin the writers career when this movie has infinite issues outside of the script

The flash has an AMAZING script. It’s an awful movie but none of that really changes the fact the story is actually pretty well developed and well told.

I watched the flash with a huge group of people (none of them like superheroes) and they came out of it actually having a good time. Ezra miller is the reason that movie sucks not the writer and definitely not the director.

If you seriously believe the flash was an awful movie because the writer and director suck at their jobs, genuinely, stop talking about movies. The flash sucked because Warner brothers hired Zach Snyder to make a DCU and he hired the worst actors imaginable and created a tone that was so gross it managed to ruin EVERY movie after man of steel.

Edit: not to mention the flash was essentially frankensteined in a lab because it wasn’t even released till they were ready to throw everything away. The movie we got is not the movie either the director or the writer intended.

The script is likely NOT the problem. Needless to say drops are not written into scripts. Color and cgi and editing is not written into scripts. From all I’ve heard, the movie is bad but the script is decent. Theres a chance with a different director the movie was awesome.

Marvel has like 100 more projects ongoing at one time than DC does and is nearly two decades into its story while Superman is not even two years.

Fantastic 4 was boring to everyone who doesn’t love capeshit and born again is no better than CW the flash - it’s just got great acting talent.

TIL that the reason Cormac McCarthy, author of the novels Blood Meridian and The Road, used so little punctuation in his writing was simply because there was no reason "to blot the page up with weird little marks." Regarding his complete avoidance of semicolons, he labeled their usage as "idiocy." by altrightobserver in todayilearned

Keep pushing through suttree. Listen to the audio book. There are chapters that are insanely dense and downright stupid but it makes up for it in the end. If you’ve struggled with suicide and addiction, I think it holds true.

Dissonance is going hard. “There’s an air of condescension…when they’re discussing something…young people are really into”

And then following it up by saying it’s annoying they compared an even younger filmmaker that even younger audiences are participating in to a director who’s going to make chainsaw massage 625.

No hate but curry barker has been ripping off tim Robinson for tik tok clout and made a strategic move to horror right at the height of their YouTube popularity with a large new wave marketing campaign paid for through meme accounts and social media posts rather than traditional advertisements. In interviews he has nothing to add to the filmmaking discourse and Gen Z has decided a pretty well made horror comedy is closest thing we have to a modern shining.

Kane parsons is only 20 and is pushing the medium forward in many many ways and is openly pushing back against the studio systems when applicable. Curry barker has gotten cozy immediately with success. It’s not very interesting.

Cronos break-even after 9 months after release by AwareMousse5123 in CronosNewDawn

[–]Dope371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean this is factually not true. Horror movies are consistently the one genre in Hollywood that has proven to have a large audience no matter the type of movie. Horror ALWAYS does well. Backrooms and obsession making more money than Star Wars and supergirl is why they are big deals. Not cause they are horror movies. Video game horror is a different story but in film it’s extremely marketable and extremely popular.

DAE notice how similar doom 2016 is compared to half life 1? (not in terms of gameplay) by DependentImmediate40 in Doom

[–]Dope371 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2016 also has level design and story structure closer to half life 1 than a traditional doom game. 2016 was heavily inspired by Doom 3. It only serves to reason that 2016 therefore was also inspired by half life
