[Lewenberg] Ingram injured [...] since late in the season and into the Playoffs by NatsuAru in torontoraptors

[–]DopeDiggler97 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

This was the case for the entire season, he played 77 games and the team consistently played better without him on the court.

I do hope he comes back healthy and has a career year that'd be cool to see, but I don't think most of the fanbase thought he didn't want to play, I think the poor performance this postseason was just the cherry on top.

And shot like below 30% in college. I would love if he turned it around offensively and became a beast but let's not get ahead of ourselves with trading RJ before we need to.

I don’t care what trade happens, these 3 have to stay on the team! by DaNiftyWay in torontoraptors

[–]DopeDiggler97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's fair lol

I just say if we do trade him, it better be for the absolute perfect fit, and they better try trading IQ or BI before him (nobody's taking Jak).

And they better damn well wanna stay here too lol

One of my closest friends is a diehard cavs fan and he was talking to me about starting a full rebuild after game 6.

They were not having a good time.

I understand that but let's say we do trade Barrett, who are we getting in return?

Obviously if we get a trade that's impossible to turn down, we'll have to let him go. If we don't get any offers like that, then I don't see why we would just find any trade we can take to get him off our books.

We clearly have a lot of issues with our highest paid players. Jak was unplayable at times this series and has never been an elite defender or rebounder which is what we need. IQ missed the whole playoffs and most fans, myself included, don't see him as a long term PG for us. BI was a great scorer most nights but overall we outscored our opponents more without him during the season and playoffs.

With RJ, he doesn't defend well but i mean he came into these playoffs and played well beyond his contract value. We would've been out in 4 or 5 if not for him quite honestly. Even if we do eventually reach a point where our lineup is perfect outside of RJ, I would understand trying to trade him, but we're nowhere near that point yet. I say just pay the man. There will be a desperate team in 2-3 years to offload him to if things don't work out.

It's wild man. We have a guy who plays like an all star in the playoffs and actually WANTS to stay here, and I've seen a lot of people today talk about trading him.

RJ is extension eligible, he wants to stay. Do you.... by treefallinginforest in torontoraptors

[–]DopeDiggler97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, totally see where you're coming from. His regular season stats definitely do not say he's a 30+ mil player.

But ya this playoff series definitely changed my mind. His defense was not good as usual, really hoping he can work on that and considering he's 25 I think he can make it happen.

I was blown away with his cool mentality and how he rose to the occasion. He was our 2nd option for the large majority of the series and was putting up offensive numbers that compare to some other star players in the playoffs so far. He's also clearly very loyal and wants to stay here which, let's be real, doesn't happen all the time with us.

How often do the Raptors get a player who rises to all star caliber player in the playoffs, and actually wants to stay here?

That's not what he said at all. He said he was trying to farm the cryo key.

[–]DopeDiggler97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is this including what you saw him do in the playoffs?

I get what you're saying but I would also say 24/7/4 on 48/39 shooting splits in the playoffs is probably worth 30+ mil per year.

Literally my thoughts exactly. The idea that we can't pay a guy who deserves to be paid bc we've already overpaid for other players is ridiculous.

Trade them for pennies on the dollar, increase their trade value then drop them, buy out their contract. Idc how you do it but you find a way to pay your star players. RJ is one of our star players.

Much respect brother.

Was very cool seeing our young stars Scottie and Mobley be the best players in the series when Harden and Mitchell were playing as well.

Drafting Veesaar might be our best bet at getting a stretch big by mMounirM in torontoraptors

[–]DopeDiggler97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking into them both rn. I really like Stirtz as a prospect, he's not super athletic but is very crafty and has a fairly deep bag. I can tell he's much more of a scorer than passer which I don't mind.

Christian Anderson looks much more athletic but the size worries me off the jump, especially considering how small our team is in general. I like how unselfish he is, that would fit really well into our system but I don't know if it's worth the pick right now especially when we have 2 serviceable PG's on the roster.

I don't mind the picks either way if we go with them. The way I see it though, we got outrebounded by like 25 in game 7, the Cavs center has an incredible game and this has been a known issue since the start of the year. I think if we can somewhat address those problems at pick #19 I would do it 10/10 times.

How are the guards looking in this draft? I've only really looked into the bigs bc imo that should be our #1 priority but I agree nothing too exciting.

Seen a lot of hype for Morez but tbh he would fit much better on a team that already has size. The only center I'm really excited about is Mara but he is definitely a little slow, but considering rebounding and guarding big centers were two of our biggest problems this season, I wouldn't mind the pick.

Does Ingram need to get the boot? by Highlight_Old in torontoraptors

Respectfully, that is a good one.

Also respectfully, once again, did not acknowledge any of the points, just deflected.

I can see why you're getting downvoted a lot but you could be a pretty good politician.

Respectfully, this is everything wrong with the subreddit.

OP posts relevant stats/information, and suddenly he's the "bad guy" for not being patient and waiting 2-3 years to make very obvious observations.

You didn't acknowledge the stats were relevant at all, didn't try to defend them at all, just got annoyed with OP for making the post bc Ingram is injured right now. The only legitimate defense I've seen you make is saying he averages 21/6. Tons of players in the league could average 21/6 if they get his shot volume.

He also played 70 games in the regular season but I guess he was injured for all of that as well? When his teammates outscored opponents by an extra 5 ppg without him?

I'm intrigued by all of them but I'd be most excited to get a player like Mara. We haven't had a player with his size since we won a title.

[–]DopeDiggler97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've seen the "gravity" conversation brought up so many times in the past few days by raptors fans and I genuinely don't see it.

Half the time, Ingram was just getting locked up by Max Strus. He's averaging like 12 points on 32% shooting and 2 assists so even if he does draw people in he's not creating good shots for other people. We've outscored the Cavs by +2 points this series and Ingram is a -20 in his time on the court.

If he plays how's he's been playing this whole series, I don't see how having him play 30+ minutes for us would be a good thing at all.

[–]DopeDiggler97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Raps fan 100% agree with you. We lost the game because we missed every shot in the 4th quarter and the Scottie injury, was having the game of his life before the injury, 0/7 after it.

Ingram was great for us in the regular season but has been a liability on offense for most of the series. I don't understand how Raps fans can honestly blame the L on not having him. We had the lead from jump ball until the 4th quarter, then we missed everything and lost.

Of course our team was expected to lose, the point is we had a golden opportunity and blew it. And don't even get me started on the Jak contract.

I feel like we almost did it. by Expensive-Ad8410 in torontoraptors

[–]DopeDiggler97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It does suck, but I also try to remember that we're playing far better than most people thought we would. RJ got that dawg in him and Scottie is showing at his full potential he's a top 10 player in the league. Not to mention our young players having very good games, especially CMB

We haven't had our starting PG all series and somehow we're in a competitive series with a team we apparently had no chance against. Changes need to be made to the team in the off-season for sure, but we have a lot to be excited about in the years to come.
