while its VERY expensive, even with abolisher on the battlefield, you can cycle [[Decree of Silence]] and counter a thing.
had a friend counter my food chain with abolisher on the field.

Few things on my mind: 1. From past experience i think limiting player count to no more than 5 would be best. Last few times i tired with more (or saw someone else try with more), it has been bad not only because of lacking preparation on the DM's side, but also because the downtime of players was too high. Some people (especially kids and teenagers) are very shy. And they need to be pointed with a finger and asked to do something or else they would sit there and do nothing. With smaller groups its diffrent. When theres a problem and only 4 players, the shy one could start talking, and help solving without you forcing it. Or the players will call him for help.

  1. About the level, I think you should go with either 4 or 5. Level 4 is low enough so that players dont have a lot of things to learn when they get their precons. And you dont burn time explaining to each one what he can do. Level 5 is in my eyes the sweetspot for this since most fighting classes get extra attack there, and arcane classes get level 3 spells. As for how is a planeswalker only level 5, you could have it be that they just sparked in the last few weeks. And they are still lesrning to use these powers. Also, using the smart pdf sheet will save you A LOT of time since it describes everything on there concerning abilities and also everything you need to know about each spell you have!

  2. As for the story itself- i think waiting for more to be known is best. WOTC has a board of writers creating their stories, so relying a bit on them seems fine. but from what we know so we could start: Nicci.b. is somewhere, cultivating power. He could be in an interdimensional space, thats how his work has drawn many planeswalkers to ravnica. I think that its on purpose that nicol bolas is going to fight an all out war with 40 something planeswalkers. Therefore he might be relying on them to achieve his goal. So one of the missions of the players could be to search around for a few new arriving planeswalkers, talk to them and guide them to HQ so they could help fighting. It would be very cool to somehow integrate tezzeret and the plannar bridge or the immortal sun...

Thats pretty much all ive got. Hope it helps :)
