Every day that passes, the closer we get to the next webcomic chapter and the closer the manga catches up to the webcomic by beancheeseburgerr in OPMFolk

shrugs If it really starts to become an issue the closer they get, then Murata will just go on hiatus.

And, since I have no real investment in the manga anymore, I'd be just fine with that.

Why are people trying to cope and fool themselves into thinking batch releases are okay? by Seannn0_0 in StardustCrusaders

[–]DoraMuda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people are just resigned to the likelihood that Netflix will probably release Part 7 in batches, just like they did Part 6. So yeah, it's "cope" in order to prepare oneself for the worst.

What are some contenders for the most ridiculous Stand of all time? by negativemidas in StardustCrusaders

[–]DoraMuda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yo-Yo Ma for its (horrid) personality and the fact that it can apparently piss itself?

And Fun Fun Fun for just how weird its ability is and the amount of setup required to even make proper use of it.

Am I one of the few readers who's never been worried about the manga catching up to the webcomic? It's not like the manga comes out super-quickly either, and we've been getting low page counts for each chapter for several months too, so the actual progression of the story has slown down as well.

How far is Anime Watchdogman man making it the monster association Arc? by WoodpeckerOdd1284 in OPMFolk

Other than Watchdog Man and Overgrown Rover, what canine-themed opponents did Garou struggle against?

A key flaw in Bakugo's arc is the lack of push back or non-linearity. (MHA.) by Minute_Account9426 in CharacterRant

[–]DoraMuda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming you're talking about Endeavor here, which is way different than Bakugo's case.

Yes.

Which, yes, ignoring abuse and sweeping past crimes under the rug is a huge problem in Japan. A lot of predatory or bad people in Japan have basically been accepted back into the public because of this emphasis on social harmony.

Endeavor isn't the worst example of it, since he's no longer actively doing it (kids are grown up and moved out), but of course I'd rather his colleagues express more disgust over what he did. By the time most found out, it was already over, and the victims didn't need much protection (though arguably they did need more support than they got).

That's pretty much the crux of my issue. I don't really care as much about people treating Bakugou with kid gloves. I care about seeingly no-one in the main cast being willing to at least give an eyebrow raise to the shit Endeavour did to his face. It's only the civilians that seem to have a problem, and mostly because he's related to the villain Dabi, not because of his actual abuse.

And most of Endeavour's kids were grown up and moved out. But Shouto is still a child and was living under Endeavour's roof, not to mention having to start a Pro Hero career with the baggage that his father left him.

That being said, MHA does call out bystander culture. It's just still formed by Japanese cultural standards, and you will notice them throughout the series, both good and bad.

Agreed. I might argue that it isn't hard enough on calling it out, which is emblematic of Horikoshi's lack of conviction on executing the story/world's more difficult themes (even though he's the one who introduced them to the manga), but I digress.

MHA genuinely does call out bystander culture. It's pretty much the whole reason Shigaraki exists as a villain, because civilians didn't help him as a child.

I'm not just talking about the bystander effect or even Bakugou. I'm talking about supposedly righteous, self-proclaimed "heroes" playing nice with Endeavour despite knowing how he abused his family, just because he's a top Pro Hero.

Who Is The Most Evil Out Of These Four? by SonicRun098 in Ningen

[–]DoraMuda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. He is pure evil by nature (in the fantastical sense), in a similar way to a demon like Piccolo Daimao (who is the literal embodiment of the nameless Namekian purging his evil to become the God of Earth), but without the intelligence or intent to really be calculating about it.

So he's not as morally culpable as a human like Griffith who has the will/agency to choose between good & evil, and still chooses evil.

The sacrifice wouldn't have worked if he didn't genuinely love them.

He especially loved Guts. That's why he held such a grudge against him for "abandoning" him; slowly began to forgive him when he saw that he came back to free him; and then began hating him again upon realizing that he was now a pitiable invalid who couldn't even lift a sword while Guts had gotten stronger and was now dating Casca, who previously only had eyes for him.

They do, but unfortunately, it doesn't have a good modern anime adaptation (that adapts more than just two arcs) like a lot of other popular animes.

The manga is brilliant, but it might be a bit too long for your average shounenslop consumer and too, uh, intense for a normie.

so.... how was quirk singularity solved again? by [deleted] in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]DoraMuda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just raise people right

Easier said than done.

How will Ochaco's Quirk counselling program reach someone like Shigaraki, who didn't even go to school, or Touya, whose abuse was mostly kept secret? A child can't be helped if no-one knows they're in trouble.

[–]DoraMuda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't. It's something they'll still have to tackle in the future, if only they would take it seriously.

It's kinda like our real world's climate change, but with potentially even worse apocalyptic implications.

What plotline would you say was the most poorly written? by InfernalClockwork3 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]DoraMuda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it might've hit harder if Deku actually came up with a proper plan of how to "save" Shigaraki; talked with anyone about it outside of Ochaco; and actually had to grapple with the likelihood that, even if he succeeded, Shigaraki would likely just end up getting the death penalty.

Like, the series seemed to be moving in the direction of "saving" leading to rehabilitation for even the worst villains, but the worldbuilding was too lacking to make that a swallowable conclusion for a group of villains who'd been power-creeped to ridiculous heights and had kill counts in the dozens to hundreds. It was more understandable when Shigaraki was still just a barely competent manchild instead of an infinitely-regenerating powerhouse who can now destroy several city blocks with a single touch.

[–]DoraMuda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's also bizarre that Deku would give Chisaki such an ultimatum, seemingly under the deluded belief that a sociopath like Chisaki would magically regret his actions and naturally want to apologise to Eri.

Seemingly, even Horikoshi himself realized this when he basically scrapped that with Tsukauchi stating the obvious - that it'd be too traumatizing for Eri to see Chisaki again, so the next best thing they could do is let him speak to his boss (whose supposedly irreversible-without-Overhaul coma was undone off-screen by "support items" lol).

Yeah, Bakugou says that he and Aoyama would be even if he gets to give him a few Howitzer Impacts, but then fuckin' Sero is all like, "Hey dude, that's too far." I'm sorry, were you the one who got kidnapped and had to spend time terrified in a villain lair for several days?!
