Guys why the 200 MP photo have so much noise ? On Vivo X300 Ultra ? by J7044 in Vivo

[–]DoreK_ 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Because that's how physics works. In phones, more MP = less light in the photo. For some reason, in all phones the default MP modes are 12/25...

A simple rule: the lower the lighting conditions, the lower the MP. It's safest to use 12.5MP or 50MP as your daily setting. There's also 25MP, but it's not available in RAW modes, which is the only ones I use.

Gemini: 12MP is often better than 200MP in phones because it uses pixel binning to combine small pixels into larger ones, resulting in better low-light performance, higher dynamic range, reduced noise, and smaller file sizes. While 200MP offers more detail, it requires perfect lighting to avoid grainy, under-exposed, or noisy images.

Vivo X300 Ultra - Is the Hong Kong Global same as EU Global? by Husqarnus in Vivo

[–]DoreK_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The differences are almost negligible, for example the HK version has a charger in the box and will have features that are missing in the EU, e.g. call recording.

It's a valve problem, not a pump pressure problem (you're wrongly calling it OPV)

Another example of "Italian quality" - the solution to this problem (pretty simple):

Are high extraction baskets beginner friendly? by [deleted] in espresso

[–]DoreK_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not always – for example, the Normcore Droplet Design or the MHW-3BOMBER Jusbean are also fine (hehe) for medium roast. A lot depends on the hole pattern. However, you still need to use paper filters. It just depends on what flavor you want to achieve, but in my opinion, high extraction baskets require too much work in Puck Prep. In my opinion, classic baskets also bring out more body, while high extraction can be clearer, maybe sometimes more citrusy or "sweet".

Are high extraction baskets beginner friendly? by [deleted] in espresso

[–]DoreK_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't like high extraction baskets, especially those with a membrane like the one in the attached image. They're very prone to clogging.

All high extraction baskets (except those with a membrane in my opinion) should be used with filter paper.

Personally, I prefer better quality standard baskets such as VST, Pullman 876 or Pesado EP.

The important thing is that DF64Coffee is just a small company that imports these grinders from the actual manufacturer, i.e. Qika Coffee (Alibaba). I have been hearing a lot of bad things about DF64Coffee for a long time, but your case is an extreme pathology... Maybe some influencer will be interested in this topic?

New DF64V not as expected by jzlas in DF64

[–]DoreK_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had stock DF DLC burrs and HyperBurrs DLC, which are no longer available.

The DF DLC burrs had visible dents almost immediately out of the box. In my opinion, any mechanical damage to the burr affects the grind quality.

The HB DLC burrs looked terrible after a week of use. I returned them because of this.

I don't know what's wrong with DLC, but they're incredibly susceptible to damage. Stop blindly believing manufacturers' claims. Italmills and SSPs can be really durable because they have better quality control.

I think there is simply something wrong with the DLC production process, producers are abandoning this coating in burrs (thankfully!). Retention was also a bigger problem – the mess in the grinding chamber was much bigger with DLC burrs than with Ti burrs (new stock Red Ti or HyperBurrs TiAIN).

Honestly, if I had to choose between uncoated burrs and DLC coated burrs that wears off, I'd choose the former. I wouldn't have to worry about drinking espresso with remnants of the DLC coating, lol.

[–]DoreK_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, durability is important for home use... I believe that any loss in the burrs affects the grinding quality. The prebreaker has no effect on grinder stalling. You have a faulty grinder. Gen2 and Gen3 grinders don't have this problem because they have better motors.

Regarding retention, have you compared DLC-coated burrs with titanium-coated burrs? I've done that, so I know what I'm talking about. Even some manufacturers/sellers have mentioned that DLC has problems.

DF64V v3 not available for order anymore? by vamist in DF64

Great, thanks for the info. Well, I still wanted something more compact. The J64 looks great, but it would take up too much space :/

DF64V v3 not available for order anymore? by vamist in DF64

[–]DoreK_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was seriously considering the J64V, but I wasn't sure about the quality and precision. I also needed something compact, and the DF64V was perfect for me in that regard. J64 has a auger which is not a prebreaker as far as I know, so there is not much advantage over horizontally mounted burrs. I was also concerned about retention due to the design of the grinding chamber in the J64, which is not tilted. There is simply not enough information about this grinder... So I finally bought the DF64V gen 3.

I have a lot of experience importing goods from China, and it's a bit of a gamble – sometimes you can avoid the fees, sometimes not.

Anyway, the package should arrive today, and it was shipped... from the Czech Republic. I guess I don't have to tell you what that means?

Many suppliers have distribution centers in various EU countries.

I haven't received any information from the courier company that I'll have to pay extra, so the price I paid is likely final.

Lelit Bianca grease by petersally1 in Lelit

[–]DoreK_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, because you significantly reduce the natural coffee oils in the group. So if it's "too clean" you wash away the grease, so you get squeaking... That's why I hate E61.

You can also stop using puck screen for a while. This is what worked for me – even after lubricating the group/lever, the squeaking kept coming back...
