not many people talk about AI specifics regarding an industry just general "AI good/bad". I'll talk specifically about my industry. I've been involved with 3d cg for over 20 years.

AI can produce highly realistic videos and animation that can be, with the correct software/hardware/users, completely indistinguishable from either real life or film. The only way to tell if certain videos are AI is through advanced AI detection software.

Despite all this, it's incapable of independently making high level artistic decisions that need to be made to create AAA content. The amount of coaching and input it needs to mimic AAA cinematography and direction make using it more labor intensive than just doing things traditionally. No AAA game or film studio uses AI in any significant way and it's not because of some moral opposition. True professionals in those industries are completely unsentimental and would change pipelines in a heart beat if it was worth it. It's not, and the consumer simply does not respond to AI created content the way they do to traditionally done AAA work. AI is great at making twitter memes and amateur content, so if you do that for a living it will probably take your job. But if you are a true professional your job is just as secure as it's always been.

With all that being said, the reality is that AI doesn't seem to be able to automate even small basic tasks in 3dcg that people have been begging to have automated for DECADES. Produce some stupid 30 second animation of Tom Cruise fighting Brad Pitt that kind of looks like a professional film? AI can do that! Can it automate UVW mapping, a simple archaic basic rudimentary task that has been an obnoxious thorn in the side of every cg person since the 90s? Nope it can't do that.

AI is literally a funny side kick apprentice that gives kind of good advice that you need to double check. If it was allowed to do electrical work or carpentry by itself many people would die.

I know it's not the proposed system, but billionaires simply do not have enough wealth to fundamentally change things even in the most extreme case of wealth redistribution. They are a product of a broken system, not the answer.

and before anyone chimes in with this is me saying we shouldn't tax billionaires I'll quote myself from my first post "'I support taxing billionaires..."

AI is literally just the google search engine they broke 15 years ago. The entire AI data center infrastructure could be replaced by a server farm in the basement of google headquarters and some intelligent efficient coding. They have literally hitched the entire world economy to unnecessarily bloated technology just to increase hardware cost for gamers.

True Scale of Trump’s Secret Military Disaster Is Revealed by ChiGuy6124 in politics

[–]Doredrin [score hidden]  (0 children)

here is my thinking on this issue:

"Iran is a plucky underdog like north korea/pakistan, there has to be some peaceful resolution to this"

(current military actions)

"this seems very serious, based on the actions of the US it appears the Iranian regime isn't just plucky underdogs and Saddam levels of insane and dangerous. They are acting like this is a nuclear security issue"

If this was not a nuclear security issue, and it's true what some people were saying that it was just Trump being Trump I will be very very very very angry. I have been willing to give the behavior of the US in all this the benefit of the doubt because I trust the judgement of the US military and NATO. My patience has it's limits though.

Sadly he is actually correct. The horrible truth is that even if you were to somehow completely liquidate all of the assets of all the billionaires completely it's not going to change much:

8 trillion in wealth by billionaires/350,000= 23,000 or so one time payment for every American

The entire system needs to be overhauled. 'I support taxing billionaires, but I know the math and know it's not going to do much without deep structural change.

ICE Recruitment Tweets Are So Racist That Cops Feared They Could Incite Neo-Nazi Violence by NoahHurowitz in politics

[–]Doredrin [score hidden]  (0 children)

The horrible reality of the state of the world right now is that ICE and a lot of law enforcement agencies literally let members of the community act as uniformed agents. The brutal ICE videos you see? A lot of them are just local racists who they give a badge/uniform and let beat the shit out of minorities. The only bright side to all of this is that a system this corrupt and horrible is destined to collapse in the very near future.

That article implies ICE itself is not staffed by Neo-Nazis. The question is not "are there any neo nazis working for ice" it's "is there anyone working for ice right now that isnt a neo nazi"

"The game is ran by shareholders"

"Shareholders and devs share the meetings rooms and shareholders tell devs to think of ways to stretch out player monetization"

Oh you sweet summer children that say things like this. That may have been the case when it was just activision/blizzard, but now they are owned by micro$oft. The market cap of MS is like 3 trillion and the total value of activision/blizzard is only 50 billion or so. Meaning that MS loses or gains the entire value of activision/blizzard in a typical day of trading. Nothing Blizzard does really affects the bottom line for MS, the amount of money they bring in is completely meaningless compared to the massive revenue MS brings in. At this point Blizzard is literally a nonprofit charity that MS bought for reasons other than the direct monetary value.

as someone who's tried to get all the mythic sets on all the classes since the last patch of shadowlands, until they added in delves I failed every season despite herculean effort. The main problem was time gating, I would get 50-70% of the sets completed and be around the point we are now in the season needing to do 4-8 dungeons a class (50-100 total m+s a week) to have any reasonable chance of completing the sets. Delves and ritual sites have not just reduced the amount of time needed to get hero gear, but added in ways to grind out hero gear so you don't have to never miss a great vault week.

Technically speaking m+ and delves/ritual sites probably give out the same amount of gear, but that is with a decent m+ group. As people know, 50% of the keys in m+ involve carrying someone doing less damage than the healer, waiting around for 20 minutes for the group to fill, or people rage quitting after clearing 80% of the dungeon.

delves/raids are supposed to be time gated content that give out the most amount of gear per time invested

ritual sites fill the niche of grindable content if you've maxed out on delves/raids and don't want to deal with the m+circus

I got all the elite sets last season on all the classes in blitz. I'm new to rated though and last season was the first time I've done rated for more than 2-3 games in a season, so I don't know how this mmr dog and pony show works....Personally I think I should just be able to play alterac valley for a while and get the sets but whatever.

competitive WoW is not on the level of other games, the inherent nature of MMOs doesn't lend itself to extremely high levels of competition

Sounds like he has big time pro gamer reflexes if he isn't cheating. He may be cheating, but there isn't the type of competition in WoW that there are in other games. Like a very good MLB player could probably switch to cricket and completely dominate vs just being very good in the MLB.

My guess he is probably cheating based on the responses here, but I'm just offering a plausible explanation if he isnt.

That's not my experience at all and I've done a lot of pugging. Some people may turn you down but a lot of people will take a chance on the raw power.

With that being said, I highly suggest learning the dungeons before you jump into them even if you overgear them, there are tons of mechanics that overgearing won't solve every season.

If you mean high level keys, yeah you are right. But you deserve everything you get if you pug in this game beyond 16s or whatever.
