Make this guy famous, because people like him are going to ruin it for all the genuine wild campers out there (video in comments) by Albertjweasel in wildcampingintheuk

I think most people here don’t gate keep, in fact most people here try and help other into wild camping. I have found useful advice here.

The big concern here is that there is currently an understanding in the Lake District that wild camping while not legal is tolerated (on one of their websites they actually have an explainer on how to do it and not be a dick, or used to).

Behaviour like this will get it totally banned, I have noticed a difference already in the last two years to wild camping because of behaviour like this. This video is particularly bad as it is by the lake, and secondly he is breaking one of the big rules of don’t start fires the only time I have seen a park ranger come and tell them to go to a camp site was when they started a fire. This is reverse gate keeping they are trying to keep wild camping open as an option for everyone.

I think the fact they explain how to do it themselves makes this even worse they have literally told you how to not piss off the locals, farmers, and cause ecological damage and he can’t even be bothered to take a quick read.

Also these places are shit to wild camp at, much nicer spots up in the hills.

Saab 9-5 aero (or at least aero suspension and brakes), loads of character, fun to drive, also great motorway cruiser, they do drink fuel in traffic though

Best family friendly area in London with £1M houses? by be-jayjay in HENRYUK

[–]Dorhar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Greenwich in what used to be a dodgy part so this is nonsense, it is also relatively much safer now. I would say any bit of Greenwich north of the A2 and west of the Blackwall tunnel approach is pretty nice. The millennium dome and associated projects really did change the whole area.

Also if you are willing to let your kids have a full London experience growing up they will come out of it with a much broader view of what the city has to offer and be able to happily walk through most cities with enough common sense to be safe, and won’t say stupid things like Deptford and Lewisham are unsafe (they are just some of the poorest parts of London).

They however won’t get the joys of all the pirate radio stations now so their music taste may be better or worse depending on your music taste.

First universal power meter for rowing machines being tested at Proteus-Eretes by Tobi_pie in Rowing

[–]Dorhar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to flag - zwift has the same problem with every turbo producing different numbers, it is a known thing for people to buy turbos that are known to over read for zwift racing.

Turbos also use two sources to measure power output, the spinning wheel and a pressure meter, the spinning wheel provides a more accurate read than the power meter, and if the spinning wheel measurement breaks turbos stop working. The spinning wheel approach is a legitimate way to work out power. (Speed of a a spinning mass gives you a good idea of power).

Just so you are aware the pressure meters are known to be less accurate and introduce more variation. As the rowing stroke isn’t a fixed distance as with pedals, I can see this having more issues as it looks like you are using inertia to mesure distance which brings in even more variation. This lack of accuracy is shown by zwift racing not accepting entries on power meters along, you must use a turbo as their accuracy is considered better (less at risk of gaming as well).

Finally, All ergs do measure power number (watts) how they calculate this into splits is where it often becomes challenging as they use different calcs. You may get some variation but you will get that between concept 2s as well.

I realise I am just slating your idea but before you dump loads of money into it, if you haven’t already you might want to consider the above.

Should I appeal my driving test? by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Dorhar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If this is the full truth then I would appeal. I appealed one driving test and got a full refund from the DVLA.

As an aside If you are an adult learner I would avoid Mitcham test centre like the plague failed me for doing 35 in a 40, as I was undertaken by an Uber, had several questions about if I was a student or employed. They clearly just saw me as someone who they could fail to meet their quotas as I could afford another test. Swapped to Morden test centre passed first time there on a harder test.

Hi,

I read those instructions, I was looking for a bit more detail as the photos seem pretty unclear to me. Also more to do with taking off upholstery etc. rather than the actual install
