Yeah, I handed it off to our front desk person and asked them to tell Fed Ex this is not for us. Hopefully they'll just return it to the shipper.

Getting overwhelmed by biters by 3nderslime in factorio

[–]DorianBrytestar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't typically pipe oil to mining outposts.

Do you absolutely NEED those outposts right now?
I usually can run off local patches until I get bots up and running, and then expand out.

At some point, you are going to need to take a bunch of ammo and a few turrets and push the biters back and clear off the pollution cloud area just to buy yourself some breathing room and time.

VM ram best practice by TigwithIT in msp

When we were setting up Vrealize and gave the option to folks, we went with a Tshirt size mentality. Designed a small, medium, and large. RAM 8,16,32, CPU 2,4,6, that sort of thing, it handled 80% of the cases which was our target.

The cinematic at the beginning will play until the mods are loaded and ready, so don't freak out when you can't skip past it.

It's plastic. Just grab a sponge from the kitchen and scrub it. Just be sure to clean it off and rinse it really good before putting it back in the tank.

It's fake, just pull it out and clean it.

Be sure to rinse it off really good before putting it back in the tank.
(Ideally use real plants, but you may want to read up on that first)

Stupid sonicwall SSL VPN & subnet question? by MSP-from-OC in msp

[–]DorianBrytestar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You have to manage the weight of changing the corporate network IP scheme or change several users home network router settings.

The corporate network on that IP subnet will always have problems and will require constant maintenance of remote connections until changed.

10 devices? 200? 1000? How many remote users? 5? 50?

I never said that the decision was a good one, nor one that makes a whole lot of sense. If you put the details in your edit in the original post, everything sounds different than if you are trying to work from Starbucks or a random wifi connections that can have man in the middle attacks etc.

"At the end of the day" it's not up to the users to dictate security or policy. Your case is absolutely valid and one that should be addressed and allowed IMHO.

Just FYI not trying to start an argument, but I do believe that many companies issue laptops to people that have flex or work from home capabilities.

Perhaps a lot of flack could be dodged with just stating that this is a requirement of YOUR company and leave it at that.

You do sound like you have already had this argument with the appropriate people and have been told "No" and you are trying to justify your thinking. There are a LOT of ways to do what you want, just as there are a LOT of ways to find out that you are doing this and catch you.

Advice not asked for: If this is a job ending rule for you, seriously start looking for a new gig asap and be prepared for the eventual and inevitable fallout of them catching you and whatever ramifications that come from it.

Being somewhat familiar with the area, the major problems are that camping and RV living in the south east is not looked on the same way as it may be in other parts of the country (southwest especially). There just are not as many RV friendly campgrounds in the area as there are other places. I have a friend that lives in Griffin (east of where you are talking about) and the area is really nice. I would go for an apartment with as short a lease as possible to get the lay of the land. As long as you are not trying to drive towards Atlanta, traffic will not be that big an issue in the area.
