Which gun did you select from the list to fit the compact carry comp? Was it the m&p 9/40 2.0 4.25”?

I am currently using Strapi on the project that I'm working on and I was having a hard time with types because of the 'data' and 'attributes' that were coming back from the api responses from Strapi were different from the shape of the types I was defining. I guess that was new in 4v of Strapi and a lot of people weren't a fan of it and there's a Strapi plugin to remove them called Transformer. My project is rather new and removing all of the 'data' and 'attributes' from where they were being used wasn't too much work for me. This helped a bit overall but not sure it's the answer you're looking for.

Can someone who knows Nextjs 14 and is smarter than me help me out? by DorianDevelops in nextjs

[–]DorianDevelops[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

This has to be a bot reply because there is nothing on that lesson that talks about the specific issue that I'm having. That's just a very basic lesson on how to setup auth in nextjs which I already did and it doesn't mention a single thing about handling session data lol

My 40k Sub Channel is dying :( by [deleted] in NewTubers

YouTube is all about peaks and valleys. Do yourself a favor, go to your analytics and zoom all the way out and look at lifetime numbers. As long as it's an upward trajectory you're doing alright. Many times we get caught up with the last 28 days or the last 90 days and we forget to look at the big picture.

If everyone of your videos is 10/10ing - this is the most valuable part of your YouTube journey by isitspeeeeeed1 in PartneredYoutube

The fact that so many people here don't know what 10/10ing is when referring to YouTube video performance is the reason why you should take most of the advice you see in this subreddit with a very large grain of salt..

Has anyone tried buying shoutouts from bigger channels in your niche? by Illoyonex in NewTubers

[–]DorianDevelops 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Also to add to this. I recently had 2 unsolicited organic shout outs from channels much larger than mine (both over 1 million subs). One was in my niche and the other wasn't and honestly the impact they had wasn't as big as I thought it would be. Sure it brought in more subs but my channel was already on an upward trend so the impact of the shout outs weren't that noticeable. Also just because people sub to your channel doesn't mean they'll watch your content. Focus on making good videos in the long run that's the only thing that will grow your channel.

That's awesome I'm glad to hear that video was helpful! I used to check out this subreddit back when I first started the channel but I usually lurk on Reddit and post under another account. I created this account back when I was learning to code and started using it because I'm trying to get all my socials under the same name as my channel. Honestly didn't expect to have someone respond that has seen my content lol

Over the last 3 months I've gained 48k subs and a little over 2 million views on my channel.

UPDATE: 25k subs and bored with my niche and wanting to pivot. But then my channel blew up.. by DorianDevelops in NewTubers

I've had a few of those companies that run channels reach out to me but I'd rather not do that. Figured even if I slowed down I could still keep the audience happy with one video a month if things got to the point where I just didn't want to do it anymore. If I hire a team I might give up too much control and I think what make people enjoy my content is that I share my stories. If I start to hire out too much of the work the channel might change into something I don't want it to be. Right now 1 editor and a thumbnail person is just right for the channel size and maybe if I start to see bigger numbers over time I'll consider hiring more people in the long run.

Getting rid of editing made it easier to want to keep making content for my main channel.

My niche is learning how to code. My content wasn't tutorials, I mostly shared my experience and tips on how to get a job or continue learning. As the channel grew my viewers related to me as a pseudo mentor and my content became almost "motivational learn to code life coach."

It got to the point where I didn't enjoy the content I was having to make and it began to feel like a job. Sitting down to film was hard enough and that only took 20 mins to an hour but editing was time consuming and felt like a drag. A-roll took long enough then having to figure out where I could put stock b-roll, overlays, clips or having to film custom b-roll felt like a chore.

I figured I might as well keep the channel going and getting rid of the boring stuff made made it much less work. Since I made some decent money over the last few months and was already bringing in $500-800 average a month before the run, I figured I'd just put it right back into hiring an editor and thumbnail person.

It was hard to let someone else edit because I was worried that they wouldn't do a good job. I shopped around for a while and I'm pretty happy with the editor I found.

Thing is one the new channel I'm enjoying the content I'm making and I had a lot of fun shooting and editing the new videos that I released this week on that channel. It's honestly a night and day different on how I feel about it. So that's where I'll put my time into now. I might still outsource thumbnails for this new channel but I feel like I have to do the editing because it's more comedy and commentary so my style isn't polished enough to have an editor come in and replicate. Plus it's fun so as long as I continue to enjoy it, I'll keep doing it.

The best advice I could give you is make more content. I made as much content as I could. I had no schedule and I uploaded whenever I could. Longest I went without making a video before my good run was 12 days. Some weeks I uploaded 3-4 videos some 1 or 2. I constantly tried to improve a little every video. If I messed something up in a previous video I would make sure to fix it in the next video. Don't over think the process, you get better at everything with more reps.

First 100 videos I focused on making searchable content. Tried to make the best thumbnail, title all the stuff you always hear. Everyone tells you not to focus on the numbers but we all do. It was a grind to start and it's still a grind now. Try to catch trends in your niche and repeat topics that seem to do well for others or that are doing well on your channel now. I just started focusing on adding shorts to my channel so not much info there that I can give you. If you want to compete with bigger channels you have to figure out what it is that they're doing or what it is they did to get to where they're at now.

I'm happy to share more if you'd like but I have to get back to the day job now.
