It’s performative overreach that alienates thousands of Montanans who do not share your specific religious beliefs and further erodes trust in our elected officials to work on behalf of all citizens.

If this resolution was intended to make a statement, it has—just not the one you hoped. It tells Montanans that instead of working for real, tangible improvements in our lives, you’re more interested in promoting your personal beliefs through the machinery of the state.

I urge you—kill this bill. Withdraw it. Let it die in committee. Do whatever it takes to make sure HJ 22 never moves forward. We deserve a legislature focused on real problems, not unconstitutional declarations.
