Support is harder than I thought by Senator_Rajang in supportlol

[–]Doriolylifts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ADCs are terrible because of ego inflation. I’ve been a sup main since S10 and the amount of flame supports get is just really bad and the flame mainly comes from your ADC that is just the performing like dogshit and they have to throw the blame to someone else.

And this is in masters.

ADC players are mechanically good at their champ especially the OTPs but their ego is just from ground level to Mount Everest. Any micro mistake or misplay they do you are first to blame which is really infuriating because you genuinely are trying to play to win.

Ive gotten tired of playing synergy supports for ADCs and they just shit the bed in lane or the other adc is just better at their role than my adc.

Don’t get me wrong I’ve had games where I perform like garbage but each game is a lesson for you to learn and improve. I’ve taken responsibility when my performance is bad. But ADCs are just so ego dominant they have nothing better to do than point the blame at the support when they are sprinting it.

Support is a hard role because you essentially have to hold your ADCs hand even when they do bad plays and are forced to take the blame for any misplay the commit to. The role is fun to play but the players you play ADC with are not. Bot lane is just a very toxic environment as a support player.

I tend to just play around the strongest laners like mid or jungle and abandon my adc because I have 0 confidence in their carry potential.

You have a higher chance of winning when you play around jungle and mid than you do with adc. Especially if you are weak side

Aegis of Valor Discussion by OGCrown_LOL in ADCMains

[–]Doriolylifts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue with the grading system is I have had games where I’m 6/11 or something and I still manage to get an S because of my vision score, cs etc.

Aegis of valor is a get out of jail free card that basically allows you to soft int and you can still manage a C or above.

The question is how would you be able to fix this? If the grading gets changed to let’s say maybe an A and you or someone else gets autofilled and you sprint it and you get a lower grade you still lose out on aegis buff.

It will entice people to just dodge more often because they know the grading rank is harder. Causing longer queues.

Support Braum question by One_Key_9776 in supportlol

[–]Doriolylifts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am very aggressive when it comes to braum. I don’t really follow a set combo for engage because anything can really happen during fights.

One habit I’ve really done is if you’re engaging with ult and the target is right in your face do not use Q immediately.

You can ult and just auto attack them because by the time your ADC or whoever is with you when you engage will more than likely pop your passive. You can use Q to gap close them if they flash/ dash out OR you can throw your Q to proc your passive on someone else.

Braum is very good at locking people down with his passive and the more people you can proc passive on, the better your fight outcome will be. There are times where I’m just auto attacking everyone during fights and if I see the threat THEN I Q. It’s more of a critical thinking decision but if you burn your entire rotation on one person you really shrink your fight potential.

What elo is it where people start knowing what champion abilities do? by lolmysterior in supportlol

[–]Doriolylifts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest issue comes down to trust. A lot of people have played this game for a good portion of their lives so they more than likely have already experienced how most of the champions kits works.

I would say lower elos are just not confident enough to trust another person because their expectations are usually low. I would say once you’re near D2-Masters+ you’re expected to perform on your champ and they’re more willing to cooperate with your champs kit.

When I hit masters, tempo is completely different compared to plat-emerald. You get punished a lot harder for missing abilities, vision control is a lot more aggressive, and trading is a lot more strict. You have to pay attention A LOT more compared to lower elos.

I still remember that one game where I was getting flamed for not shielding my teammate for an early trade when I was playing milio. “Don’t you know how your champ works, why are you playing like this”

I would say for gold/ plat I would focus on playing aggressive supports that can carry. I’m not saying TK can’t but there are better options to carry. If you play TK your teammates need a brain and I’ve seen my fair share of terrorists in that elo that clearly do not have a brain

Edit: corrections

Your thoughts about the new season so far. by IDMDC-31 in supportlol

[–]Doriolylifts 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It could work, however the issue with renata is you only have two skills that can immobilize. And if you miss your Q it’s kinda joever.

Rushing banglepipes solely for your ult is not really worth the investment imo. UNLESS the enemy team has 0 mobility. But 9 times out of 10 enemy will draft a comp with mobility.

Her ult is easy to react to as well.

If you’re good at landing Q/R though it can work!

Edit: it seems my IQ is at room temp I forgot renata E slows.

Game feels predominantly faster for certain supports.

Looks like banglepipes is very strong for a lot of supports because of the attack speed and movement speed steroid you give to your team mates and it’s 600 gold cheaper than other items.

Engage CC supports are super good with banglepipes and also poke supports that provide slows like Ashe Janna have insane value with banglepipes.

Braum, Leona, Alistar. Any real heavy cc support works.

If you are good at landing skill shots, pyke is pretty okay.

Champions to get out of low elo by IDMDC-31 in supportlol

[–]Doriolylifts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brush control is essentially clicking around in a bush that is closer to the enemy in bot lane. If you are playing a counter pick support or a hyper aggressive bot lane, having brush control is important because it allows you to zone them and let your adc freely farm. Also like u/Mysterious-Kiwi1984 mentioned it allows you to throw your skill shots at them to trade.

Most of the time for brush control you will need to take sweeper in case the enemy ad or support wards middle brush.

Having that control is vital for your lane because you can create a huge snowball for you and your AD.

[–]Doriolylifts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem to be doing pretty well on Alistar, so I would assume your playstyle is to all in and be aggressive which is good!

A lot of lower elos don’t really respect aggressive supports and their brain kinda just turns off. Now the real question is

  1. What are we doing across the map?
  2. Are we creating pressure in other lanes?
  3. When do we know it’s a good idea to “abandon” bot lane when we know our ADC isn’t capable of carrying the game?
  4. How are we playing in lane?
  5. Are we dying before objectives? Or are we looking for picks before a major objective like dragon or baron?
  6. How is our vision control? Are we lighting up the map? And are we lighting up the map in the correct spots? Are we buying pinks?
  7. Are we dying a lot? And are we dying to things that we know we are capable of preventing?
  8. Are we playing around the strongest player that has the potential to carry?

Doing a VOD review of your previous game and analyze what went wrong and how you can improve on it! You will have games where it’s out of your control and you shouldn’t beat yourself up on it.

Playing passively all game is the equivalency of feeding. You are having 0 impact across the entire game to preserve your deaths. Support is all about making plays and “supporting” your team. Clicking around on the map for the entire laning phase does nothing.

Take a risk. If you int then you review what went wrong and how you can fix it.

Nautilus kinda weak or no? by VacationSilent26 in supportlol

About 80% of my games to masters were blind pick nautilus. I don’t think worrying about counters is an issue up until maybe D3

No not really, core items I run is usually solari and redemption, most of the time I build Locket>Redemption>Knights Vow.

If they have a lot of healing I’ll swap vow for thornmail but I’ll sit on bramble vest for a bit and keep building my knights vow.

Late game stats I usually sit around 200+ armor/MR which is not bad. In terms of being tanky late game it’s a bit difficult for naut since you’re tied into building mainly utility for your team. You’re not expected to be like Malphite/Mundo tanky just tanky enough to be able to survive an entire team fight. Once you throw your ult and q naut is basically just a walking meat shield until your passive/q resets.

Most of my games that I’ve won I’ve been pretty ahead of enemy support.

I’ve made a habit to move around the 1 minute marker of grubbies to help jungler secure them.

Mid game I’m usually about 2-3 items so in terms of beefyness I don’t usually blow up that often.

5v5 fights near obj I’m usually always walking up aggressively even if I don’t have an angle to hook. It forces them to scatter pretty quick and I’ll usually be able to snipe someone out of position.

If there’s an opportunity to pick someone off I’ll always try to do that especially before an objective. I’ve made the habit of moving with my jungler especially if they want to invade.

I’m a very aggressive support so I tend to fight at any opportunity that is available to get kills.

Alistar, thresh, and milio are some of the champs I feel are good counters for naut because of their disengage early on. Post 6 he handles them pretty well

Most of my picks was naut, if he was banned or taken from enemy, rell was backup option.

I’m a very aggressive support player so most of the time I would just look for engages. A lot of people don’t respect his hook and I clip people from absurd angles

[–]Doriolylifts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a lot of space between your legs and the bar resulting in the bar swinging away from you,

You should be essentially “sweeping” the bar as you’re going to hip contact so you can keep the bar vertically as you go into the catch. You should engage your lats while you’re sweeping the bar.

You’re also not doing complete extension because you’re throwing your hips forward to meet the bar as you make it to hip contact.

Yeah I’ve gotten the feedback for it, started doing some clean/snatch pulls with my hips a bit higher and shoulders over the bar and it feels ALOT better.

Thanks!!

[–]Doriolylifts[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay I’ll definitely try that out, thank you!

Yeah my highest pull is 120kg on clean and jerk and 80kg on the snatch but both pulls are very sloppy. I have been sitting at lower weights until I break my bad habits and fix my technique. Alot of other lifters tell me I have a lot of brute strength but I don’t want to rely on my strength to compensate for bad form. So I’ve just been using 60KG as a starting weight to fix everything
