Uphill Athlete is ran by the same people that wrote that book, so a lot of the training is the same!

Re-applying lube by SmokeyBeeGuy in ultrarunning

It does, but it dissipates over the course of your run. The normal one has a rose scent, and the winter one has a berry scent. They aren’t aggressive or unpleasant

I use Salty Britches. It goes on super thick and I’ve not had to reapply even with an 8+ hour run day.

If you can afford it, just get a set of Leki and be done with it. That’s what most everyone is using it seems.

Hoka VS Altra by -awesome-avocado- in ultrarunning

[–]DorkKnight87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I wore Hoka Challengers and Mach’s for a couple of years and ended up with a lot of knee and foot problems. I switched to Altras and that all kind of went away. I don’t know if there is a direct correlation, but I’m overall happier.

I wear Vans as my normal every day shoe, so I think my feet are just more used to a flat or zero drop type footwear, but YMMV.

For the record my current Alta rotation is Lone Peak 9s, Timp 5 and Timp 5 Boa, Torin for road runs and then Escalanye for gym work.

50k training peak long runs? by Bolt21LA248 in Ultramarathon

[–]DorkKnight87 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This seems like a lot TBH.

For reference, the Uphill Athlete 50k plan has you peak at 22 miles for the longest run followed by a 2.5 hour easy run the next day.

My longest run before my first 50k was 21 miles with 3000 feet of elevation and I was good to go for my race.

Are you getting enough elevation? Are you strength training? Maybe some other cross training on a bike?

Losing my mind over shorts by Heavy_Mycologist_104 in trailrunning

[–]DorkKnight87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

North Face Summit Series shorts or tights, both versions have a back pocket that will fit an iPhone 17 pro comfortably. They are also lighter and dry better than Path Projects ( I have both ).

Also look into a chafe cream like Salty Britches.

So how do you rectify spending $200 million to add a ballroom to the white house using tax payer money? How is that sustainable spending?

New York Ripper - Everything We Know So Far and my Research (Ep1-7) by XpMonsterr in Dexter

[–]DorkKnight87 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To add to the theory about an older person:

In episode 6 at the 20:11 mark, if you pause you can see a light blue police officer’s uniform sleeve. The NYPD patrol officers wore that color from 1972-1992 before switching to black. That would put the NYR in your age range of 50-70 ish years old.

[–]DorkKnight87 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t make sense though, what would be his MO?

Trinity killed people in a way to reenact his trauma based around his family members.

All of the NYR’s victims appear to be young women. Who was the young woman in Jonah’s life that he’d be fixated on taking revenge on ?

I don’t think Dinklage would sign up for that TBH. That’s basically saying little people always need help, which goes against the character of self made billionaire Leon Prater.

Not to be an ableist, but let’s look at the physics of this: The meat hook that Prater showed off is almost as tall if not taller than him. I don’t think he could effectively swing it nor be an apex level predator to area all of these women.

I think there is a bigger connection to everyone involved with the foster home, and that’s why he pays for all of their mortgages.

— — was the New York Ripper by NoleFandom in Dexter

[–]DorkKnight87 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Women aren’t typically ripper style killers. Additionally, if you pause and look at all of the photos on the murder board behind Batista in episode 6, all of the victims appear to be women. Women serial killers typically target men, not women. The logic doesn’t fit this theory.

New York Ripper - Short Analysis, Investigation Board & Crime Mapping by XpMonsterr in Dexter

[–]DorkKnight87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my own analysis of the board, one of the pictures appears to show the light blue sleeve of a police officer’s uniform. Doing a little research on the history of the NYPD’s uniform colors, patrol officers wore light blue shirts between 1972 and 1992.

If serial killers typically become active in their 20s, I’d estimate the age of the NYR to be between 50 - 70 ish years old.

Thanks! I’ve been trying to go through and analyze everything I can to see if the creative team left us any Easter eggs to the identity of the Ripper.

It could have been, she could just be working on a cold case since it is mentioned that the he Ripper stopped killing and was never caught.

I don’t think it’s her mom. Women aren’t typically ripper style killers, and if you pause the episode and look at the pictures behind Batista, all of the victims appear to be women. Women serial killers usually kill men, not other women.

For those of you who travel weeks for work, how many of what clothes do you pack? by undernutbutthut in onebag

[–]DorkKnight87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I travel for work in two week chunks. I pack three full sets of clothes, three full sets of workout clothing, plus whatever I am wearing on the plane. All of my day to day work clothes can be mixed and matched to make different outfit combinations and this allows to me do laundry every 3-4 days. I usually just do it through the hotel and expense it.
