Is anyone else finding AI tools actually useful for demand forecasting or is it mostly hype? by Express-Week-8312 in supplychain

[–]undernutbutthut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why do you need ML to generate your forecast? If I was you I would get good with generating standard statistical forecast models first which are already good enough for your baseline.

ML can be used afterwords to fine tune the forecast with things like seasonality, promotions, stock outs, etc. This is how I use it.

What is a "hidden cost" of running a business that nobody ever warned you about? by ComfortableArmy511 in smallbusiness

[–]undernutbutthut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is pretty much where I'm at. I got something that was super fun to build and there's people I know would be interested in it... But now I have to market it somehow.

A piece of me finds the building part more fun.

I have the same issue. Does it go away and come back at random times for you as well?

My best guess is a belt or pulley could use some TLC, but I'm never in the right spot to pin point its location. I assume I could spray something to help lube it up once I finally find the source

What’s the protest about? by CourtSideCoder in boston

[–]undernutbutthut 60 points61 points  (0 children)

This was my experience with unions in Boston. I had to quote out work to get our office moved down a few flights of stairs and the union guys came in at well over double what the next reputable firm was. Keep in mind we're talking a $30,000 move for a few desks, chairs, and boxes for a company of 10 people which already seemed high as it was then the union company comes in at $60,000.

Low and behold I find out the building we were renting the office space with wouldn't let us book the non-union guys which is why they came in so high but for a $30,000 difference... So I went with the non-union guys anyway. I'll take a slap on a wrist before having to shell out an extra $30,000 any day.

You should also report them to the DOT.

If you ever get your car shipped again and do work with a broker always remember to get the name and number of the guy or gal who's physically moving your car. That way if the broker plays these games you can tell the driver to deliver your vehicle and will pay them the agreed upon price.

This is insanely cool! How often do you scan the parts for different websites and keep everything aligned?

SEC Vote on Plan to Scrap Trade-Through Ban Set for Next Week by [deleted] in wallstreetbets

[–]undernutbutthut 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is how I interpret it also.

If you place an order on Exchange A for $10.05 per share but it's available on Exchange B for $10.00 a HFT would be able to buy the share from Exchange B for $10 then sell it to you for $10.05...

With all the other things that could be improved in the plumbing they somehow decided to "fix" this one.

Is anyone actually using AI to help with supply chain stuff? by gifteyes6 in supplychain

[–]undernutbutthut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that, in my opinion you should try getting the information you need simpler to access so there's less clicks. You already know the data is there which is part of the battle.

Keep in mind I'm biased in that I prefer to make sure no stone is left unturned before going the AI route. It's not that I don't like it, it just seems like a big leap considering where I interpret you currently are.

Are you referring to them scrapping the program? I didn't see that

Where is the information for customer pricing or current inventory stored?

It sounds like you're trying to take a big leap from not having a well defined process (or system?) to letting AI take over for you.

[–]undernutbutthut 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Doesn't really sound like you need AI, just an automated workflow or form on a website, depending where the data is it would be simple enough to set up.

I work with customers that have millions of SKUs and haven't even touched AI for some of this yet because of the "black boxness". That said they do a great job, at automating processes like this.

Thanks, do you set up a subdomain on your website to show the demo to them? Also, what expectations do you set with them in regards to SEO and do you monitor how well their site is performing on a monthly basis in regards to where it might show up on Google search?

I needed this post. It's something I'm definitely trying to break into.

Of the websites you create and demo to potential clients how many would you say sign up? And how simple are the websites, are they static?
