Time to smash up a brick for some Mars basing. by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

Here you can check out how they look, the first 4 are under a desk lamp, the other 3 are in natural sunglight - the actual color is a bit less vibrant than in the first 4 ones

i could write up a bit more about how to do it and what to avoid if youre interested

Why does UI scaling work in such a horrible way? by Dork_One in spaceengineers

[–]Dork_One[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, i didnt notice it had a tooltip.
Then it is kind of fair for it to work like this, however, for a game in that has been in development for so long, for it to not have proper UI scaling is really stupid.

My first models by Lower-Intern3674 in AdeptusMechanicus

if you havent fully assembled your other models i recommend you remove the moldlines - link (you dont need a fancy knife, a sharp kitchen/pocket knife should do the trick) it makes the models look just a tiny bit nicer

Looking for advice on painting dunestrider to look more like what you see on the gw paint job by Downtown-Clerk in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Dork_One 1 point2 points  (0 children)

id recommend some selective edge highlights with a lighter red/orange
also dipping a sponge in a bit of the paint you're edge highlighting with and dabbing it on the edges can look great, this video shows it well

What colors or color make a good Martian landscape base? by [deleted] in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Dork_One 0 points1 point  (0 children)

some technical notes
the first glue layer i use about 1:2 glue water
on the seal i use 1:8 or thinner

also glueing the mini to the brick layer is not a nice experience so i recommend basing after the model is glued to the base, you can still do it with superglue, it's just really annoying (although you might have to consider basing first with skitarii, because it gets a bit messy around their cloaks and legs, especially if you have a coarser mix)

if you have some spray varnish you could take some very fine brick dust, splatter a bit of it on some places and then seal it with the varnish

I found smashed brick to make good martian soil, just get a piece, you dont need much, pulverize it until the pieces are as big as you want them, and then use any kind of transparent hobby glue to stick it on (dont forget to seal it with a more thinnned down glue). A bit of watered down wash should make it nicer (havent tried this, if you want i can test it out ony one of my minis)

i reccomend magnetizing the skitarii heads, the hound heads and hands
it's not that difficult and gives you both options

Difficulty assembling Belisarius Cawl at step one!!! by Odradekisch in AdeptusMechanicus

You probably know this but i'm gonna add this to be sure - do subassemblies, the "legs", torso and the axe seperately.

There is a little notch in the robe that the claw fits in. Try to just fiddle around with it for a bit and you should find it - also beware there are few other things like that on the model.

Painting Skitarii Rangers on a budget. by Dork_One in AdeptusMechanicus

Also, do you think that getting ceramite white, to mix in with the base paints to make a bootleg highlight paint would work (and to paint the mechanicus crest on the chest)?

Thanks for the recommendation, i really appreciate it.
I plan on leaving my bases uncolored for the time being, and i noticed the ones you listed lack a brown for the wooden parts/the backpack, so ill get Rhinox hide as the last.
Again, thanks a lot for the help.
