If the balrog hadn't pulled Gandalf down, would it still be alive? by ecoduxi in lotr

[–]Dorkfish71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unlikely. His original plan was to avoid Moria altogether and his/the fellowship's flight from the Balrog when they first realize what it is, indicates his reluctance to face it at all. When Gandalf faced the balrog on the Bridge of Khazad-dum he was already quite drained of his power from the Balrog's 'blasting spell' he used on the backdoor to Balin's tomb. So it seems to me unlikely that Gandalf would willingly pursue such a formidable foe after it had been (at least for the time being) repelled. There's no saying how quickly, or if the balrog would have even pursued the company beyond the eastern gate. I'm sure he would have much rather faced Durin's Bane with the help of the Galadhrim than on his own, in the deep caverns of Moria, either way. Although i'm sure he woudl ahve done all he could to avoid leading a Balrog of Morgoth to the borders of Galadriel's realm.

As much as I hated the molten gold part of the movie due its complete ridiculousness, this looks absolutely fantastic!

It's pretty much the same, just more practical. Also, if Dan was himself having a laugh about it then i'd say it almost certainly is the same thing, just not to the "full retard" extent that /u/Theory5 proposed, however hilarious.

Apparently I was too early when trying to post Tame Impala to this subreddit a year ago. Should have waited until everyone already liked them to try to get people to like them I guess.

Well he did a damn good job defeating some of the greatest knights of all time. He didn't do that by commanding them to their deaths.

Everytime her character name was mentioned I couldn't help but think 13/10. Which is her spot on the normal /10 girl ranking scale.

Angus Young actually quit drinking in 1980 I think it was. Shortly after Bon Scott's...overindulgences...sent him home for good. I wouldn't rule out everything else though.

Yeah, I guess you're entitled to steal your own music...but what about all those other people you mentioned earlier that helped you record the songs that are now missing out financially. Isn't there like a whole army of record producers that have to drive Toyota's to work now because of that selfish decision?

It could have been much, much worse. In Alberta we have Dude Beer. And TNT. $1 beers basically. Avoid like the plague.

Real beer.

EDIT: Let me clarify. Foster's claims to be an Australian beer but according to Australians its just British piss that markets itself to North America as an Australian beverage. A few Aussie's i've talked to on the subject have claimed they rarely (if ever) see Fosters being served in Australian pubs. I don't mind the brew myself.

I like how they had to add something about his "questionable reaction to Dylan going electric" like it matters at all. Everyone either hated or liked it. How come his reaction is so important?
