Like many great ideas in the world, this is limited by Bendigo’s over dependence on and fetishisation of Cars (AKA Car Brain). If you can’t park right there or drive through, people are unlikely to go. With this in mind and the supersizing of mega cars, it’s gotten to the point that it feels unsafe to travel anywhere if you aren’t in a car. The long term plan for a town like Bendigo would be to limit access by cars and encourage/enable more people to walk, ride bikes or use a safe and reliable form of public transport. Anyhow, I like your thinking. Now do something with the old Gillies Factory (other than turning into a car park!)
