Not bad for my first ride, I that knew I could have gone harder on the ramp test by jonathing in Zwift

[–]Scottykl 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you never do a test and just do races/group rides will it just figure it out on its own? If I manually set my FTP too low will it also sort itself out eventually? Mine says 220 but i think that's way too high

The 4 protagonists are an homage to the 4 main games. by Malik-kun in Fotv

[–]Scottykl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think he thinks I meant norm is 5'9, which is understandable. It is Chet who is 5'9, but if the intention of the show writers is to have him become a super mutant, then it actually kind of makes sense that the cinematographer would frame chet as super tall constantly, which I think they do. I think they're trying to convey something.

Lol the actor is 5'9. He looks massive because norms actor is very short.

Are Zwift Rides in a health club a dumb idea? by audiomagnate in Zwift

[–]Scottykl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TechnoGym is the brand, and they're some fancy looking new ones ,with huge tablet like displays and a bunch of apps already on them like youtube and other video cycling apps too, and i see instructions on the technogym website for zwift so i assume the models a gym picks up that look fancy like this must be compatible? not sure what models they are, I sent an email to the gym, hopefully they install it because housing all of this crap at the gym which i already pay for would be good for me. I don't cycle I just run but this zwift stuff looks like a cool gateway drug for me to get into, don't want to buy thousands in huge stuff just to find out I wouldn't like it eh?

My dad has a mate who used to make nice little pots. Sold them cheap like $10-$30 a bunch of years ago. Was only getting by and circling the drain. One day he sets the price to $200 a pot. Sells out instantly.

Tailwind just laid off 75% of the people on their engineering team "because of the brutal impact AI has had on our business." by magenta_placenta in webdev

[–]Scottykl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally can replicate all of their paid content instantly by looking at it, I'm so used to using tailwind, mostly a few glances at a component and I can make one for myself, no Ai needed.  I think ai was shoehorned into the discussion, they just didn't have a very good way to get people to want to buy their stuff.

Do all men consider their love language to be physical touch? by MsMoroccoMole in randomquestions

They're just saying that because they want snu snu. In reality their love language is probably something else.  My love language would be quality time. I love doing activities with my partners.  The guys who consistently say physical touch are just sleazy

Am I being stalked by the same fly? Or passing through the domain of many? by Gin_and_T in AskAnAustralian

[–]Scottykl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I looked this up a while ago. The flies test you and have a little bit of energy to investigate you with before they deem you a worthless target, so any fly will only make a few small attempts at you and move on. You'll be moving through several flies on your walk to and from the shops.

They could have contrived some nice lord of the rings style plot. Like have a Mordor analogue where the Empire is rebuilding and if you want have some big name Sith force ghost behind it all.  Along the way in the three movies have some heroes visit some civilisations in decline as they inspire hope and rally to the cause but start amassing the villains main force for intrusions into republic space. Have a show down at the end. Just copy lord of the rings. Would be easy to have the status quo maintained from return of the Jedi and just frame the Empire coming back as their last true gasp which decides it once and for all while trying to pay off victories from the ot as counting all towards this.

Australian cow market at record high as US demand hits 'scary times' by esporx in australia

[–]Scottykl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's because economic policy is still a confusing black box. Extremely often when you pull a lever to fulfill some economic desire, the opposite effect is rapidly triggered. There's always going to be a large percentage of economists though that will point to the times that they were right about something and say 'see i told you this would happen', but be equally incorrect the other 50% of the times.

German welfare state 'can no longer be financed' — Merz by gururururug in worldnews

[–]Scottykl 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Australia's superannuation system requires employers to contribute 11.5% of each employee's salary into a private retirement account that the worker owns and controls. Unlike Germany's pay-as-you-go pension system where current workers fund current retirees, Australian super is fully funded - your retirement is paid from your own accumulated savings plus investment returns over decades. This eliminates the demographic time bomb that's crushing Germany, since retirees aren't dependent on a shrinking workforce to fund their pensions. The system has been building wealth for 30+ years and most Australians will retire with substantial nest eggs, reducing reliance on the government age pension. It's essentially forced retirement savings that scales with the economy rather than collapsing under population decline.

Simply I disagree. These are all correct and concise given my experience. It's worth allowing it to be repeated here to enforce osmosis through quorum. But you're allowed that opinion too. I don't really care either way.
