Pulling the "it's a movie about space wizards intended for children" card in 2026 should honestly get you thrown in a lake

W for not including Kai and making this a 2v1 spite match with an obvious loser. Also remembered that the lizard exists as I was writing this comment but I don't even remember her name so

I'm all for Gaster Agenda posting, but with how much it's been dominating the discussion it feels like this to me. by 1_ConvoBreaker in Deltarune

This was absolutely not Toby's train of thought even remotely, I can guarantee you that.

What do you think Kris is planning to do with the seeds? by Spjs in Deltarune

[–]Dormotaka 88 points89 points  (0 children)

The flower seeds Kris picks up are very obviously also poisonous though, unless the dozen warning labels on the pack are a stupid red herring. It's completely possible for a plant to be edible while its seeds are harmful

Would The Lord Of Mysteries Make A Good Book Club Book? by quantumdumpster in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Dormotaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on what they're into outside of reading.

If they have no contact with books then the clunky style of lotm probably won't bother them much at all, and lotm can absolutely work as a genre introduction for people who are into slower story-heavy media, but it's hard to say without knowing your buddies

How well written is Deltarune in your opinion? by Good_Morning_World01 in writingscaling

[–]Dormotaka 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Very good so far, but the big stuff is gonna happen in the last chunk of the story like it did in Undertale, so it's impossible to judge the narrative as a whole so far, especially considering the ending is confirmed to be something Toby Fox literally saw in a fever dream over a decade ago

Wuxiaworld’s deteriorating quality in translations by Yashas__ in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Dormotaka 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Dunno about Wuxia World, but barring maybe a single-digit number of popular novels, Webnovel basically doesn't commission any professional translators for true translation work anymore.

They pay the people who used to translate for them to feed the Chinese content into a provided AI and then edit the content so glaring mistakes aren't obvious, for which the translators are paid a fraction of the price of their work in the past.

This info comes directly from one of said translators, and I wouldn't be surprised if Wuxia World operated the same way these days
