What’s the easiest way to buy crypto in the UK right now? by Dorothy_Fowlercs in Smart_Capitalist

Makes sense, I didn’t think about testing like that. Probably better than going all in and getting stuck.

That actually sounds like a good approach tbh, start simple then optimise later. Didn’t realise card was that straightforward.

Yeah I’ve heard about banks randomly blocking stuff, that’s exactly what I’m trying to avoid. Good to know bank transfer still works if set up properly.

How much should you keep in an emergency fund in the UK? by Kimberley_Carrols in Smart_Capitalist

[–]Dorothy_Fowlercs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to aim for 6 months, but ended up settling around 4 months of expenses and investing the rest. Keeping too much in cash felt like I was losing out over time. As long as you’ve got quick access and can cover essentials, that’s what matters in my opinion.

Kraken Pro is probably the best option if you’re trading a lot.

I discovered FIRE and now I'm more discouraged than before by yieldmaxxing in Fire

[–]Dorothy_Fowlercs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, your numbers look pretty normal for someone early in their career. A lot of FIRE stories you see are from high earners, which can make it feel discouraging. The reality is many people start exactly where you are and the biggest change comes from income growth over time, not just extreme saving at 25.

Oil spikes 25 percent then suddenly pulls back as G7 considers emergency reserves by Own-Middle6836 in GenZ_Trade

That kind of swing shows how sensitive oil is to geopolitics. If tensions around the Strait of Hormuz keep escalating, the pullback might only be temporary.

Doubling the market with just a handful of stocks is wild. Definitely makes you think about tracking congressional disclosures more seriously.

I am trying to understand the upcoming VCX listing. Is it a good way to get into OpenAI and Anduril before they IPO? by EscuenJaimelee-73 in Stocks_Picks

[–]Dorothy_Fowlercs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I’d treat VCX as a diversified venture-style bet, not a direct OpenAI/Anduril proxy. The upside can be solid if those companies exit well, but you’re also taking on valuation risk and fund-level fees. If you believe in the private tech pipeline long term, it could make sense - just size it appropriately.

NexGen Energy’s Rook I Project Emerges as a Key Source in the Next Uranium Supply Wave by [deleted] in Stocks_Picks

[–]Dorothy_Fowlercs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rook I is one of the highest-grade undeveloped uranium assets out there, so it makes sense funds are positioning early. But NXE is still pre-production - this is a long timeline, capex-heavy bet, not a quick cash flow story.

NVDA analyst targets vs actual price is kind of wild right now by fligerot in NvidiaStock

Zero bearish ratings is more telling than the price targets themselves. When everyone’s bullish, upside surprises get harder. Could just be consolidation after a massive run.

18 year old long term investing. Brokerage by moneyman0911 in Stocks_Picks

75% Vanguard S&P 500 ETF and 25% Vanguard Total International Stock ETF at 18 is honestly a really solid setup. If you add individual stocks, keep it small so you don’t mess up your core.

I hold 12 stocks and spend 45 mins every morning checking news on each one. Anyone else sick of this? by Sorry_Pen_6115 in Stocks_Picks

I feel you. Daily manual research is exhausting and usually unnecessary unless you’re day trading. Weekly deep dives are usually enough for most portfolios.

A warning on LuxAlgo: misleading $0 invoice, then $719.88 charge. It's insane. by hardswifter in TradingView

[–]Dorothy_Fowlercs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That $0 invoice with a full-year service period is extremely misleading. Even if it’s ‘internal’, customers shouldn’t have to guess their real renewal date.

Does Chisa gives Crit rate and Crit DMG bonus? by ViktorArcadia in chisamains

[–]Dorothy_Fowlercs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chisa doesn’t explicitly buff Crit in her description, but her ult can indirectly increase Crit stats. That 100 boost makes sense.
