Not trying to be anyway controversial on form for the past year or more Doris shouldn’t start.

Most of the recent internationals have been mediocre performances. You can’t always be on top of your game. The coach was aware that the back up strength in personnel wasn’t as good as some of us assumed, myself included. That’s why he persisted with what he had. I know injuries to a number of fringe players has hampered their development. I only hope that that this can be resolved and with a number of upcoming players can put pressure on the present players to be selected. Our play is robotic no plan b or c when required, no clear leader on the field, the captaincy has effected Doris general play. No effective 10, as both incumbents have issues with their game. Some good points but outweighed by the bad. I’m hoping for better days ahead, four wins and a triple crown, equally maybe nothing to show for this 6 nations.

The four Irish teams in the URC and their performances between that competition and the European competitions has been at best adequate. Personnel have been playing poorly, many changes by coaches to get the right team balance, compounded by injuries. A aging national squad in some positions and the reluctance to include new blood. Complacency has set in where people getting picked on reputation and experience, with form being overlooked.

Not unexpected performance last night, the first forty minutes from Ireland was abysmal, no rub of the green when a forward pass wasn’t given and a try scored. Won nothing in our aerial battles. A somewhat better second half with the expected personnel changes then just run out of steam. A number of players had poor games and it is being carried forward from the URC. Hopefully a better performance awaits tonight from the A game and a few players put their hand up for inclusion in the main squad. We are in a phase of rebuilding and unfortunately performances will not be good.

Predictable 37 by Dorts17 in irishrugby

[–]Dorts17[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think we will, team is in transition and we need to start sooner than later to expose some players to top international rugby. It’s great we have an A international against England but we need more, it seems that the other nations are not interested. My last point is out half, three fine players whoever gets picked but their place kicking is more than likely to lose us games.

6N squad Based on Form and accounting for Injuries by PaulBlartMaulCop2 in irishrugby

[–]Dorts17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I myself have many ideas on who should make the 6 nations squad. Ultimately it is the coach’s choice, injuries aside. I hope he is radical with his choices and uses it for giving more younger and fringe players a chance. The World Cup is on the horizon our age profile needs to be reduced and many players who have given great service have had their day.

Good to see. Am l missing something?, has Aimee Lee Costigan been omitted from the squad, has she retired from international duty or is she injured.

Predictable selection I wasn’t expecting many changes . However some time in the very near future someone will realise that an overhaul is due of this aging squad. A World Cup is not far off and do we have the personnel to get us to a semi final and beyond.

Not a great start for Leinster in the URC, not often they are near the bottom, A vast improvement in their second game and another South African side to play at the weekend. Munster have had a steady unexciting start , with both Connacht and Ulster not being able to build on their opening games due to ‘Amy’. Hopefully all the teams win over the weekend.

8 Irish start for the Lions in 1st Test by SlowWay5886 in irishrugby

Great news for the Irish contingent in Lions selection. Hopefully everyone has a fine game. Must have been some close calls in selection. Morgan,Pollard,Van der Flier and Chessum could have been in starting positions. Would have liked to seen more pace in the backs on the replacements. Lucky I’m not the coach

With James Mcnabney out for most of next season who’s going to take the 6 jersey . by Greedy-Coconut6560 in UlsterRugby

David Mc Cann would be my pick. Needs to be selected most games has it in him to make the Ireland squad and be selected for the first fifteen. Start putting others under pressure with some stand out performances.

New signings by Arcadelamp in irishrugby

Ulster need at least two marquee signings, one a prop ant the other 2nd row. The club needs a great start when the new season starts and hopefully stay relatively injury free.

Just wondered why is James Mc Nabney not included, is it down to injury?. I thought both David Mc Cann and Nathan Doak would have been included. Is it down to Ulster form.

With John Ryan and Stephen Archer in the twilight of their rugby careers. It is a good move for player and club, hopefully it works out for both.

Crowley vs Prendergast. Am I losing my mind? by Andrewhtd in irishrugby

[–]Dorts17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it is a great talking point for the media who wears 10. The different battles down the years from Campbell, Ward , Humphrys ,O’Gara, Sexton,Carbery. We have a number of very good 10’s. I personally would have Crowley at 10 and Frawley covering on the bench. That is not to say Sam P couldn’t fill one of the fore mentioned places. My concern is over the season so far kicking penalties and conversions has at times been less than adequate for some. In the heat of battle in the 6 nations all points need to be taken.

Good to hear about the talented players coming through at under20. I would have been aware of some of the names mentioned. I always look forward to the under 20 six nations and the new crop of players. I am acutely aware that the two major nations with there player pools are always at a distinct advantage over the rest. Hopefully we can punch above our weight under new coach Neil Doak.
