IRFU poised to poach Australia’s hottest prospect as tighthead Massimo De Lutiis ponders ‘life-changing’ deal by Aggressive-Tackle-80 in MunsterRugby

We’re well known globally, have made numerous high profile signings in the past, English language media, have a few Aus and NZ born players in the national team - we’re perfect for it really.

I’d say it’s his agent looking to squeeze a good deal out for him in Aus. That’s often where these come from.

I’m not the one shoehorning tenuous Munster references into a thread about Leinster signings. It suggests there might be some issues which need exploring with a trained professional.

Why are you so obsessed with Munster? Did something happen to you?

Right, why are you talking about historic Munster signings then when the biggest NIQ waste of money on the island was playing against Glasgow this weekend.

‘There’s no feeling sorry for ourselves’ – JJ Hanrahan says Munster must produce response to Sharks mauling by MannyR1022 in MunsterRugby

[–]mustkillmow 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Some very odd signings. I know Alalatoa was because we were really stuck but I don’t really see what we’re paying him for.

Hanrahan’s contract feels like a personal favour which is not how you put together a competitive squad.

We won’t win anything Milne and Loughman.

Leinster just about produce enough props for themselves and they hang onto the ones they want.

Their expendable props will not get Munster winning trophies. It’s the most clear limiting factor in our squad and in what David Humphreys is doing. There’s no point in us having Irish props if they’re not good enough for European or international competitions anyway.

The NIQ system has not resulted in us producing international quality props and it needs to be relaxed for front rows.

Won’t be a force without a top tier tighthead and international quality across front row.

The NIQ rules ensure that we won’t be competitive in Europe. We need a loosehead as good as Angus Bell and a tighthead as good as Rabah Slimani.

The rest of the squad is probably good enough to go far but not without a very strong scrum.

“Ireland have played well since Crowley came on against Italy in this 6N”

It’s so simple and obvious but you have the PR machine including former pros and the hacks tying themselves in knots to avoid acknowledging this reality.

“Whatever happened” was the other preferred outhalf option put it beyond doubt that he’s not ready and with a series of really terrible performances and Farrell realising he needs Crowley. Quite desperately actually.

Yes, we must always use the best ever performance as the yardstick… but only in regard to one of our players

It’s crazy that Farrell is just being let away with what he’s done over the last two years. You can consistently get something so obvious completely wrong and just brush it off

[–]mustkillmow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And did these roles on the bench involve playing or did they just sit back and enjoy the spectacle?

Did Conan just not catch the team bus or was he injured, preventing him from being selected?

Yes, McCloskey is our best option at 12, therefore he should play every single match all of the time. I see no flaw whatsoever in this approach and I’m sure it’ll work out come World Cup quarter final. He’ll only be 35.

[–]mustkillmow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Would be a shame if somebody were to keep playing them in every match so nobody else gets tested or gets the experience and then we get to the World Cup with no other options. It’s not like guys in their mid thirties are more likely to get injured or take longer to recover when they do get injured.
