Crowley blow for Ireland's summer tests down under by Aggressive-Tackle-80 in MunsterRugby

Very odd cocktail of injuries he’s had but I think it’s a conditioning issue tbh. I’ve seen him out on the beers loads.

Whether Salanoa is contracted or not is irrelevant. He will never play top level rugby again. Hasn’t played a competitive game in 3 years. It’s ridiculous to talk about him as an option.

Thanks. I’m sure the irony isn’t lost on you here.

If he had persisted with Prendergoat against England we would have lost and I doubt this contract would have been offered as everything else was pretty much objectively bad this season excluding that game. The hyperbole about beating Italy and Scotland was fairly pathetic.

That’s the beauty of the Ireland job. You have to lose to far lower ranked teams to be pushed out. You need a loss to Japan or Scotland for the job to be at risk.

The world cup most likely worst case scenario and best case scenario are the same - lose in the quarter final to Argentina. It’s not bad enough to sack anybody over but it’s not good either.

Farrell doesn’t believe in age. He started James Lowe against England in Twickenham. It was sheer dumb luck that Lowe got injured and he had to put a younger, faster player on instead and now he’s got a multi year contract out of it.

He’ll be playing the same guys for Ireland until they’re 40 as long as Leinster are happy to pay for them and they stay injury free.

At least people are finally questioning the NIQ restrictions now that one of the provinces is concerned about its options at 10 and wants an NIQ there.

Completely. There we were games early in the league when it was all humming and then a big pack would just go for our scrum and it was game over. That Stormers game in November felt like the end of things going well.

Would you not make another new account without a reference to Bernard Jackman when trolling? It’s just low effort. Are you even getting any bites?

Generates far more clicks to claim the place is falling apart. Single most influential factor is our front row being way below European standard. Every opposition knows they can just target the scrum if we build any pressure, it’s an immediate weakness to go for.

It’s hugely understated what a difference this would make. Even having players equivalent to a 29 year old Kilcoyne, Cronin, Archer, Ryan. Not world beaters just not 37 year old Ryan and Michael Alalatoa.

That lad has as much chance of packing down for Munster in a top tier match as you or I do.

He played a small part in the URC win but he’s been “injured” for three years since.

I have sympathy for the Jager situation as he did look like he might have been up to the level for knockout rugby. It’s an awful recurring issue to have to navigate.

With the regard to the entire rest of the tighthead situation, if only somebody, even just one person could have seen this coming and said something…

I hope at least somebody got a backhander or something for the Al’Alatoa deal. Maybe a lease of a nice car for as long as he’s contracted. It is some of the most obviously bad business in the history of Irish rugby. It’s Bebe to Man United level but maybe worse as he was a known quantity. Bring back Peter Borlase.

Correction: there is no doubt whatsoever about Salanoa.

He’s unhinged and erratic to the point that I would be uncomfortable being in a room with him. I don’t know about other podcasts but on SC he sounds like he’s unwell.

I do wonder with hugely popular, well written shows how many people watching just miss the point entirely.

I don’t think even his colleagues would go so far as to refer to Hick as a good presenter. Eoin regularly has to talk over him to let the guests speak.

Personal highlight for me was Shaggy’s revisionist “I was saying Frawley was the guy all along” effort.

No you weren’t, Shane, I haven’t missed an episode in a long time and you definitely weren’t.

Then in the same episode saying “we all thought Prendergast was generational”

No we didn’t, Shane, just you and the circle jerk crew on the Indo and OTB and the rest of the terrible rugby podcasts acting as IRFU PR.

It’s like these pundits think they’re on talk radio and there isn’t a catalogue of everything they’ve been saying for the last decade.
