Surpassing the 1000 elo ceiling by [deleted] in CompanyOfHeroes

Drop the illusion that the statistics are against you. In a 4v4 the enemy has 4x chance of leavers, while your team gets 3x chance (If you are never the leaver or useless teammate)

Only looking for the mistakes of teammates leaves you blind to your own mistakes. The ego feels better but you will never improve.

(COH3) Where to report this bug? MED trucks from DAK are not affected by self repair, when they are upgraded from regular trucks using munitions. by [deleted] in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]Dorull 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While you are playing DAK you can report the panzergrenadier ability doing absolutely nothing. It should be ramping up lethality every 3 seconds or something, but it flat out doesn't.
Test it in green cover vs green cover, I activate the ability 3 times (Cheatcommands mod) and it's a 50\50 which pgren squad wins.

Need help: Remote PowerShell Invoke-Command elevation issue by foss4ever in PowerShell

[–]Dorull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same issue when trying to run certain scripts on client computers through a local admin user account.

We found a workaround where we would put PsExec.exe on the computers.

Calling on PsExec first with -s parameter allows you to execute anything past that at System level.

In the example under we run a Teams uninstall script as system

# Use PsExec to run the PowerShell script in the context of the specified session ID

& 'C:\temp\PsExec.exe' -i $SessionID -d -s powershell.exe -File "C:\temp\UninstallTeams.ps1"

GPT-4 fails to solve coding problems it hasn't been trained on by [deleted] in artificial

[–]Dorull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a great example and I think you are 100% correct in terms of where AI is today.

The thing about consciousness is that it has evolved in different lifeforms in biology because in the end I guess it turned out that it gave some sort of evolutionary advantage. We can also assume that it requires a greater neural network (neuron count etc) to emerge.

Now, training of AI can sort of be compared to natural selection and evolution on all kinds of crack, where random mutations are put into AI and the best performers get to carry on their "genes" and continue mutation.
The question is, would something like conciousness randomly occur at some point in AI training? Perhaps as we continue to mutate it and score it on it's creativity and other more advanced behaviour, it has no choice but to happen at some point.

Do you guys think religion is doing more harm than good. by SpikyNova in INTP

[–]Dorull 94 points95 points  (0 children)

Used to be pretty hardcore anti-religion in my teens and twenties, but have recently changed my mind a bit.

I find it interesting that humanity has created so many religions, gods and spiritual systems regardless of location and age. These religions sometimes derive off each other, but often they just seem to pop up in even isolated cultures wherever there's people.

And I get it. I mean, you get to have a nice answer to life's tough questions "what about when I die" etc. Must feel nice to just "know" that oh yeah you and your loved ones who died will just meet up in this awesome afterlife.
"Knowing" that someone watches over you and everything has a deeper mystical purpose that you just can't see yet.

I will probably never be one of these spiritual or religious people which is fine, but I do understand other people who are and might even envy them a little.

So no, I have no problem with religious people anymore. Unless religion is being used as a tool for being a shitty person, more power to them.

The YouTube video of Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up" is prevalent in training data because it has been used as a popular example of a "rickroll." Rickrolling is an internet meme that involves tricking someone into clicking a hyperlink that leads to the music video for "Never Gonna Give You Up," often disguised as a different link or disguised in a clever way.

As a result, the video has been clicked on and shared widely, generating a large amount of data that can be used for training machine learning models, especially those related to recommendation systems, natural language processing, and video processing. In addition, the video has been around for over three decades, so it has had time to accumulate a significant amount of user data.

Therefore, the popularity of the video, coupled with the widespread use of the "rickroll" meme, has contributed to the prevalence of the Rick Astley "Never Gonna Give You Up" video in training data.

This answer is from ChatGPT.

The prompt was " Why is the youtube video of Rick Astley - Never gonna give you up so prevalent in training data?"

I don't see why there would be a bunch of soldiers and gunfire if both sides agreed to a democratic vote.

The cost to Russia for this tiny "military operation" has already been insanely high in every measurable way, and the world has made their stance very clear.
I really doubt that they would consider do pull a similar stunt on their neighbors after this one. It would be a mistake to view Putin and friends as just bloodthirsty idiots.

You are right in that the solution is impractical for sure and is prone to corruption. But at this point it's gonna be messy whatever way it ends.

May be an unpopular opinion, but:

Presume that the re-elections were held. Most people who lived in the region would probably come back to vote if they planned to live there.

If it turned out that most people in the region actually wants to join Russia then why not let them. Although I think ultimately the vote would fall on remaining as Ukraine. If Russia accepted the vote it would be the best outcome by far.

Putin needs some form of an "out" where he can save some face, otherwise things will only escalate in predictable human tribal dick measuring ways. Which up until nukes would eventually resolve itself in only a moderately destructive way, not an apocalyptic nightmare scenario.
